CELEBRATES - Kingsville Community Church
March 2016 Newsletter 1860 Division Rd. N. Kingsville, ON N9Y 2Z1 phone: 519.733.5691 web: www.kingsvillechurch.com Are you Blessed? After viewing the new film “Risen” a young man from the Ukraine, who had only been to church once in his life on Christmas Eve, sat puzzled about what he had just seen. Jesus the saviour of the world? Jesus really rose from the dead? If Jesus really is alive why doesn’t he just show himself, and everyone will believe in him? I’m sure that everyone has at least thought the same as this young man. If Jesus would just show himself then everyone would believe in him, all our world’s problems would be over, and countries would live in peace. The early Christians had the same desire, and would greet each other with the word, “Maranatha” which means, “Come Lord Jesus.” One of Jesus disciples, Thomas, refused to believe that Jesus had risen from the dead until he physically saw him, and touched the wounds left in his hands, feet and side from the crucifixion. When Thomas was confronted by the resurrected Jesus he fell on his knees exclaiming, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus replied, “Because you have seen me you believed, blessed are those who have not seen yet have believed.” Jesus’ reply to Thomas indicates that there are more important ways of seeing the risen Christ than with our physical eyes. God honours and blesses the person who sees the risen Christ with their faith. Through faith in the risen Christ people have experienced freedom from guilt and forgiveness of their sins. Through faith marriages and relationships have been restored because Jesus is alive! Through faith people experience the risen Christ’s love and power. Through faith in the resurrected Jesus men and women have been healed from spiritual, emotional and physical disease. Through faith people who were bound by addictions and habits have been set free by the power of the living Lord. Billions of people have found hope because on the first Easter morning the tomb was empty, and the angel proclaimed, “He is not here, He has risen!” This is what Jesus meant when he said, “Blessed are those who have not seen yet have believed.” Are you one of the blessed? All it takes is to believe that “Christ has risen!” by Pastor Tom March “Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime.” Martin Luther Good Friday Free Breakfast!
