track and trap wildlife, and hike. The majority of our time will be spent in the woods
on WT’s campus as well as in Hartwood
Acres. Campers will leave this week
with skills that will travel with them
beyond summer 2015!
Grades: 1, 2, 3
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Lead Instructor: Janna Lettan, WT Music Teacher
Grades: 3, 4, 5, 6
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
NEW! Zine Scene Cartooning
and Storytelling Workshop
Did you know that zines are all the rage? Short for “magazine,” a
zine is loosely defined as an independently produced and self-published underground publication. A zine can be
a messy hodgepodge of personal thoughts
(a “perzine”), a series of stories written
by you about characters in your favorite book, movie, or video game (a “fanzine”), a serial comic strip, a “how-to”
guide on a subject of your choice --anything you want! In this camp you will
learn all of the skills and techniques needed to write, design, layout, and produce your
own zines using both the old fashioned methods of scissors, tape,
and photocopier, as well as digital new media methods to create
and distribute “webzines.” By the end of the camp, students will
have created their very own zines to trade with other zinesters and
to give to friends and family.
Grades: 3, 4, 5, 6

Giddy up! Campers should be ready for a full day of horse-loving
fun! Each morning will be spent on campus and each afternoon
will be spent at the Cedar Run Farms (only a
five minute van ride from WT’s campus).
While on campus, your little horse lover

of horses and riding in China. They will
research and study the characteristics
of different breeds of horses unique to
China, prepare special snacks for horses,
paint horseshoes, meet a farrier, play games

activities and projects. While at the barn, the teacher/counselor/horse to camper ratio will be 1:3. Under the watchful eye of
knowledgeable instructors and counselors, campers will enjoy a
45-minute horseback riding lesson each day, and campers will
practice the constant respect and understanding for safety when
working with horses. Each camper will assume shared responsibility for their horse for the week, handling the daily stable chores for
grooming, feeding, tacking, mucking, untacking, and riding. Amid
the daily horse activities, riding instructors maintain the camp
spirit of fun, new friendships, and the discovery and celebration
