Bully (2011) (PG-13)
Prebook 1/15/2013
Street 2/12/2013
WR1
Directed by Sundance and Emmy-award winning filmmaker, Lee Hirsch, The Bully Project is a beautifully cinematic, character-driven
documentary. At its heart are those with huge stakes in this issue whose stories each represent a different facet of America's bullying
crisis. The Bully Project follows five kids and families over the course of a school year. Stories include two families who have lost
children to suicide and a mother awaiting the fate of her 14-year-old daughter who has been incarcerated after bringing a gun on her
school bus. With an intimate glimpse into homes, classrooms, cafeterias and principals' offices, the film offers insight into the often
cruel world of the lives of bullied children. As teachers, administrators, kids and parents struggle to find answers; The Bully Project
examines the dire consequences of bullying through the testimony of strong and courageous youth. Through the power of their
stories, the film aims to be a catalyst for change in the way we deal with bullying as parents, teachers, children and society as a whole.
Documentary/Bullying. Starring David Long, Tina Long, Kirk Smalley. Directed by Lee Hirsch. Rated PG-13 (intense thematic material,
disturbing content, and some strong language - all involving kids). Young Adult. Nonfiction.

"I'm going to tell you a story and it's true... I always have to tell people that," so asserts comedian-turned-playwright-turned-filmmaker
Mike Birbiglia directly to the viewer at the outset of his autobiographically inspired, fictional feature debut. Birbiglia wears his incisive
wit on his sleeve while portraying a cinematic surrogate. We are thrust into the tale of a burgeoning stand-up comedian struggling
with the stress of a stalled career, a stale relationship threatening to race out of his control, and the wild spurts of severe sleepwalking
he is desperate to ignore. Based on the successful one-man show, Sleepwalk With Me engages in the kind of passionate and personal
storytelling that transfigures intimate anguish into comic art. Comedy. Starring Mike Birbiglia, Lauren Ambrose, James Rebhorn, Carol

Winner at the Sundance Film Festival, 5 Broken Cameras is a deeply personal, first-hand account of non-violent resistance in Bil'in, a
West Bank village threatened by encroaching Israeli settlements. Shot almost entirely by Palestinian farmer Emad Burnat, who bought
his first camera in 2005 to record the birth of his youngest son, the footage was later given to Israeli co-director Guy Davidi to edit.
Structured around the violent destruction of each one of Burnat's cameras, the filmmakers' collaboration follows one family's
evolution over five years of village turmoil. Burnat watches from behind the lens as olive trees are bulldozed, protests intensify, and
lives are lost. "I feel like the camera protects me," he says, "but it's an illusion." . Documentary/Foreign Film. Starring Guy Davidi.
Directed by Emad Burnat AND Guy Davidi. Adult. Nonfiction. Hebrew/Arabic with English subtitles.

Alex and Nica are young, in love and engaged to be married. The summer before their wedding, they are backpacking in the Caucasus
Mountains in Georgia. Walking for hours, they trade anecdotes, play games to pass the time of moving through space. And then, a
momentary misstep, a gesture that takes only two or three seconds, a gesture that's over almost as soon as it begins. But once it is
done, it can't be undone. Once it is done, it threatens to undo everything the couple believed about each other and about themselves.
All the while, they are not alone. They are always with the guide, who witnesses their every move. The film plays off the relationship

For more than 30 years, Wayne White has made an indelible mark on the creative world. As a designer, painter, puppeteer, sculptor

Part biography, part live performance, Beauty is Embarrasing tells the irreverent and inspiring story of this one-of-a-kind visual artist
and raconteur. The film traces White’s career from an underground cartoonist in New York’s East Village to his big break as a designer,
puppeteer and voice-over actor on Pee-Wee’s Playhouse as well as his work animating music videos for The Smashing Pumpkins and
Peter Gabriel. At its core, Beauty is Embarrasing shows what it takes for one uniquely talented, profanely hilarious and utterly

Game Change is a searing, behind- the-scenes look at John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign, from the decision to select Alaska
Governor Sarah Palin as McCain's running mate to the ticket's ultimate defeat in the general election just sixty days later. Told
primarily through the eyes of senior McCain strategist Steve Schmidt, who originally championed Palin and later came to regret the
choice, Game Change pulls back the curtain on the intense human drama surrounding the McCain team, the critical decisions made
behind closed doors and how the choice was made to bring Palin on the ticket. The film examines how we choose our leaders by
offering a unique glimpse into the inner workings of an historic campaign. CC. Drama/Biography/History. Based on the novel by Mark
