Earlier this year Inspiring Stories launched a nationwide project to connect and support
young filmmakers to kick-start short films about young Kiwis making a difference in
their community. Through a series of workshops in almost every region of New Zealand
participants developed their storytelling and filmmaking skills and connected with local
industry mentors. Some of the participants went on to make and submit their projects into
the very first Inspiring Stories Film Competition.

‘STORYTELLING FOR A BETTER WORLD’ STEVE BARR 20mins
The purpose of the Awards Night is to celebrate the achievement of those young filmmakers
and announce the winners of the competition. There’s nine category awards to be given out
and we’ll be screening the highlights. Award categories include the following:
Steve Barr moved to New Zealand after working for 16 years
in the Hollywood system. He has been a post-production
scheduler and studio “suit” for Universal Studios and a
feature screenwriter for Walt Disney Pictures.
