Riderss announced the launch of Hot Air Ballooning in Lonavala
from 29th October 2013. Hot Air Ballooning has taken the tourism
industry of Rajasthan by storm & is now ready to set ablaze the
tourism industry of Maharashtra.
Initially there will be one balloon with carrying capacity of 8
passengers priced at INR 12,000/person, the ride last for
approximately one hour but the whole experience lasts for six hours
from pick up to drop back. As Hot Air Ballooning is seasonal and
dependent on wind movement, the first year will have flights from
November 2013 to mid April 2014. From the base at Lonavala the
balloon will be airborne twice a day at sunrise and late
afternoon/early evening.
Concierge Association of Western Region had the pleasure of
being invited on 28th October 2013 for the maiden flight of Hot Air
Balloon ride organized by SKY WALTZ at Lonavala. Albert
Amanna, Shaunak Vengurlekar, Abhash Bhowmik and Sachin Rao
were the few to attend the event.
It was the most beautiful way to look at Mumbai’s favourite
weekend destination.

The Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum was established in 1872 as
the erstwhile Victoria & Albert Museum, Bombay. It is
Mumbai’s oldest museum and the third oldest in the country.
The Museum's collection showcases the Decorative Arts of
India and the life and history of nineteenth century Mumbai.
The UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture
Heritage Conservation have been established to recognize the
achievement of individuals and organizations within the
private sector, and the public-private initiatives, in
successfully restoring structures of heritage value in the
region.
Concierge Association of India – Western Region had
organized a private tour of this Museum for its members so
that the clear picture can be portrayed in front of the visitors
and guests enquiring with them for information. On 08th
November 2013 from 1600hrs to 1730hrs, 19 Concierges from
different hotels of Mumbai were present for the tour. The tour
was conducted by Ms. Kaveri Agarwal the Public Relations
Manager of Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum who shared her
knowledge and experience with the entire team. We were
shown a video about the brief history of the nineteenth century
Mumbai city & the Museum and then were taken for a show
around of the Museum.

61st UICH Congress took place in beautiful Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where over500 Concierge members from 45 countries all across the globe
including 14 Concierges from Indiaattended the Congress from January 10th to 15th 2014. The opening ceremony commenced with the theme
“Colours of the World” &the Minister of Tourism & Culture Malaysia YAB Dato’ Seri Nazri Aziz was the Guest of Honor. The host hotels were
“The Royal Chulan” & “The Prince Hotel & Residences” Kuala Lumpur. Educational Presentations were made by Mr. Greg Dogan – President &
CEO of Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, Mr. MarklandBlaiklock – Sr. VP Asia Pacific of Sofitel Hotels, Mr. Roger Paull – VP, Global Brand
Management of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Ms. Rebecca Hawkins – Global Brand Manager of Intercontinental Hotels Group &Mr. Jeff Rednour
– Hotel Manager of Four Seasons Hotel, Singapore. Mr. Jean Claude Biver (CEO, Board Member & Shareholder of Hublot) made a special
presentation about Hubolt watches and gave an inspirational speech about Love & the ability to connect with Love.Our impressive General
Assembly took place at the Grand Ball Room of The Royal Chulan hotel & official welcome was done by Mr. Emmanuel Vrettos (Hon President
UICH). Qatar was officially announced as 44th member section & Macau as 45th member section. Mr. Rajiv Kaul (President Leela Palaces Hotels
& Resort) was nominated from Indian section for Honorary International Diploma. 12 nominees for Andy Pongco award were present on main
stage out of which Mr. Noel Sumitra (Hon PRO Western Region) represented our Indian section. Mrs. Pongco was the chief guest to announce Mr.
James Elliott from Great Britain as the winner of Andy Pongco award 2014. The delegation met again for the Royale Gala night at the Hilton hotel
KL Sentralwhere everyone dressed in their tuxedo & black tie; complete with live music, local entertainment and certificates of appreciation to our
guests and sponsors.Truly an impressive Congress and spectacular time spent by our Indian Concierge delegates in beautiful Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia.

IN SERVICE THROUGH FRIENDSHIP
Les Clefs d’Or India is an association affiliated to the Union Internationale des Concierges d’Hotels (UICH). This
association represents hotel Concierges who are recognizable by the crossed keys on their lapels, sharing a common
interest & goals. It is a non-political, non-religious & not a trade union of any sort but is based on friendship between
members to assist International tourists & travelers.
The association has been registered with the Registrar of Societies & has been into existence since July 2000 under Les
Clefs d’Or Singapore & later on accepted as an Independent chapter by UICH in April 2011. Les Clefs d’Or India now has a
presence all over the country, including all the metro cities. Its members have grown in numbers & major activities are
organized to promote awareness of the Concierge profession.
Les Clefs d’Or India now plans to host the 10thAsian Congress in 2017 which brings all the Asian countries together for
growth of tourism and hospitality in these regions. It is the best time to showcase India and its tourism to the
participating countries of the world. This cannot be possible without the support of the Government sector, the hotel
industry and tourism industry as well.
