Presidents Message: Happy February to All, As I write this entry it’s January 13th or more importantly, the 2015 Corvette Z06 reveal day. While at the plant today I was able to watch along with some of the staff the live reveal; very exciting to see the next Euro super car killer. Imagine 6.2L supercharged 625 hp and 638 ft. Wow!!! On to club items, February is the month of love and romance so make sure you tell that special person how you feel. By this time we should have had our first activities meeting. I know everyone is looking forward to a spring and summer full of events. One item that was discussed at the January meeting was the discontinuation of the Master Member program. The board would like to have input from all members on whether we keep the program or discontinue it. Please contact myself or any board member. We will discuss this topic at the monthly meeting and plan to have a vote at the March meeting. Canine Companions for Independence "Help is a Four Legged Word" Canine Companions for Independence is a non‐profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships. Proposed changes to the Master Membership Program The Master Membership Program guidelines are listed below … please review and bring your comments and suggestions to the February and March meetings. Membership will be discussing then voting on retiring this program in March 2014. The program as currently implemented is not incentivizing participation in club activities. For the most part, the same small group of club members achieves Master Membership status each year. The Board would like to hear the membership’s ideas and suggestions for promoting club participation in place of the Master Membership program. MASTER MEMBERSHIP POINTS PROGRAM The purpose of the Master Membership Program is to recognize club members who participate in club functions. The program will begin at the January club meeting and will end after the last event in November. To become a Master Member you must earn at least 100 points for the year in the following manner: Point’s breakdown: 1.

Meetings (10 points possible per meeting) a. 5 points for attendance. b. 3 points for driving corvette to the meeting. c. 2 points for wearing name tag. NCM event volunteers (4 hours minimum per event) a. NCM C5/C6 Birthday Bash in April (10 points) b. NCM Labor Day Celebration in September (10 points). 3 points for every article you write for SkidMarks up to a total of 12 points. 3 points for being an officer or officer‐at‐large. 6 points for being a committee chairperson. 3 points for being a committee member. 20 points for an event activity coordinator. Master Membership is a family program, so if only one family member is able to participate at any of the above functions or events, they will receive points for the entire family. Revised May 5, 2012 Page 2 of 8 MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES CORVETTES LIMITED OF BOWLING GREEN, KY Monthly Membership Meeting January 4, 2014 President Dan Garrett called the meeting to order at 6:10 and welcomed everyone to the monthly meeting of CLBG. He wished everyone a healthy and prosperous new year. Visitors: Two visitors were introduced: David Parker who has a new C‐7, and Richard Greer and Retta Poe who has a 50th anniversary corvette. Dan invited them to join CLBG. January Birthdays and Anniversaries were recognized as published in Skidmarks. Minutes: Minutes from the November and December membership meeting were published in the January issue of Skidmarks. Gloria Ford asked if there were any corrections or additions. There were none. Gary Cockriel moved and Bill Nye seconded approval of the November and the December Minutes as Voted: presented. All in favor; motion passed. Treasurer’s Report: Pam Johnston reviewed the December financials noting that our beginning balance on December 1 was $6,865.87. Income included one new member ‐ $55, sale of merchandise ‐ $2.50, Christmas party Guests/Take Home food ‐ $89 and banner sale ‐ $130 for a total income of $276.50. Expenses included $323.60 for Christmas Dinner table and chair rental, $155.27 for annual recognition awards, $136.89 for cookout food/supplies; $899.62 for Christmas party caterer; $54.95 for Christmas Party cleanup, $50 for Memorials (Matukas), $22.26 for new member nametags and $9.20 for postage for 2013 treasurer mailings ‐‐ for an expense total of ($1,651.79). December 31, 2013 balance was $5,490.58. It was noted that there was not a 50/50 drawing at the December Christmas Party; income from the 50/50 drawings for 2013 was $530. Voted: Dennis Smith voted and Christine Perrielo seconded. All in favor; motion passed. Sunshine Report: The Sunshine Report was given by Erika Hullhorst. Updates were given about those who were ill. Erika reported that she sent a card to Donna Matukas. Tuesdays with Torie: January 14 – Red Lobster – 5:45 p.m. Please let Torie know if you are planning to attend. January 28 – TBD Old Business: Dan presented David Wiseman and Butch Rush with the Rookie of the Year Award. (They were unable to attend the Christmas Party last month when the awards were handed out.) New Business: Larry & Vickie Crosbie out of town but they will be having a meeting later this month to discuss 2014 activities. They will be emailing the membership as to the date and time. Be thinking about activities for 2014. Name Tags: All members were encouraged to wear our name tags at our meetings so we can all get to know one another better. New Recruits: All members were encouraged to look for prospective members . . . talk the club up . . . bring prospective members to meetings, etc. Master Membership: There has been discussion about whether or not to continue the Master Membership program. Whether or not to continue this program was tabled from the November 2013 board meeting . . . the new board decided to bring it to the membership. Discussion followed with pros and cons. The membership was encouraged to check the website for details about the Master Member Program to refresh their memory. Website ID: CLBG73 Password: CLBG740 It was noted that if we do not continue the Master Membership we will need to find other ways to recognized members when they volunteer above and beyond the call of duty. Voted: Gary Cockriel moved and Dennis Smith seconded. All in favor; motion passed. Page 3 of 8 Inventory: There are several items in inventory that need to be sold. We will announce the items for sale in Skidmarks and then at the next membership meeting display and have these items ready to sell. We will need a volunteer(s) to work the inventory table. Please, Do Not Cross the Barriers: Everyone was reminded 1) to be respectful of the museum’s property and the property on loan to the museum, and 2) not to park in the fire lanes. Gary Cockriel travels the United States talking to corvette clubs and raising support for the Museum. He has been a museum volunteer since they broke ground in 1992 and has been a part of CLBG since its inception in 1980. Tonight he was given the opportunity to remind us of some of the history of the museum – it opened in 1994 and was $12 million in debt. The museum now owns 40 cars and has many corvettes on loan. We are the only club in the world that gets to meet in the museum in exchange for volunteering at two museum events per year. The museum was built for corvette people. It is our museum. It is the greatest thing in corvette history. We should not take it for granted. The museum has members from all over the world. The Motorsports Park will be an asset to the museum; it has already been featured in Kentucky magazine and featured on CNN. He stressed that GM does not own the museum – the members do! GM sells the museum 30 cars a year at cost for raffles. Mr. Cockriel suggested that we donate to the museum any corvette memorabilia lying around they we are not using ‐ these items can be used for a silent auction or added to the library or even to the archives. The museum’s 20th anniversary will be in August. We have approximately 2,500 cars already registered and the museum only has 600 parking spots. The Museum needs volunteers!! He left us by saying, “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” CLBG Ambassador Report – Fred Kayser ‐‐ Fred thanked everyone for allowing him to be CLBG’s ambassador. He said he was available if anyone has questions. He reiterated that we are the only club that meets at the museum and we need to take care of it. 1) CLBG banner raffle proceeds totaled $130. Thanks go out to all who supported this raffle. The winner was James Bailey. All proceeds will be donated to the NCM toward our club's Motorsports Park pledge. 2) Motorsports Park update: ‐ Rough grading has been completed. ‐ A paving fundraiser is on‐going, whereby a donor may purchase asphalt. 6,822 tons are needed at an estimated cost of $682,200. The asphalt may be purchased in increments of $100 per ton. Approximately 1500 tons have been purchased so far. ‐ Total pledge receipts as of 12/27/2013: $10,203 ‐ Remaining pledge balance as of 12/27/2013: $4,797 ‐ Donations may be made directly to the NCM or Fred is willing to discreetly deliver donations to the NCM. Be sure to write our club name in the memo field on your check in order to insure that our club is credited for the donation. 3) Some of the upcoming events at the NCM are as follows: ‐ Rolex 24 at Daytona (January23‐26) ‐ Astronauts & Alligator MIM (April 8‐13) ‐ Dragon Run Tour MIM (April 24‐26) ‐ Bash (April 24‐26) ‐ 20th Anniversary Celebration (August 28‐30) ‐ Teen Driving: Car Control & Situational Awareness Clinic (1st Tuesday of each month, 1 hour/session, 2PM & 3PM, Teens 16+ with a permit, $10/student) 4) Corvette raffle update: ‐ 1/9, 2014 Coupe (Build Your Own coupe or convertible or $55,000) ‐ 1/16, 2014 Laguna Blue coupe ‐ 1/30, 2014 Torch Red coupe ‐ Tickets may be purchased directly from the NCM or through Fred. 5) If you are interested in purchasing anything from the museum, except items that may be purchased in the store, such as bricks, benches, raffle tickets, asphalt, NCM delivery, buyer's tour, photo album, VIP tour, or Museum Experience, Fred will be glad to help you. He would appreciate it if you put his name in the "sold by" field or notify him of your purchase. 6) Please consider volunteering for various activities at the NCM throughout the year. The museum will appreciate any time that you may be able spend there, regardless of whether it is during a formal event or any other day. Page 4 of 8 Proposed Activity: Roy Carman has been talking with Major John Hamric at Ft. Campbell about a proposed quarterly road trip to Ft. Campbell to spend some time with vets and perhaps take them for a ride. We will discuss this more next month. Upcoming Events: Tony Feckter reminded of the swap meet at Westmorland next weekend and other upcoming car shows. Page 6 of 8 CLBG National Corvette Museum Ambassador Fred Kayser CLBG Ambassador Article January 20, 2014 The NCM presently has a GPS Adventures program going on until May 4. This is a good opportunity to learn more about navigating while using a GPS. There is still time to support the NCM "Paving The Way" fundraiser for the carousel on the east road course at the Motorsports Park. You may support the NCM in this endeavor by purchasing asphalt in one ton increments at a cost of $100/ton. Please contact me if you would like to receive additional information on this activity or assistance in purchasing a ton (or more!). Mark your calendars for the NCM Bash from April 24 to 26. The NCM will need more volunteers for this event this year than in the past. Please support this activity as much as possible. Keep in mind that volunteers are welcome at the museum at any time, regardless of whether there is an event scheduled or not. Please register for the 20th Anniversary Celebration as soon as possible. Thousands of registrations have already been received and many activities are filling up. Be sure to check the museum's website (www.corvettemuseum.org) often. There is a lot of information on it and it is constantly being updated. There is a Corvette raffle scheduled on February 13 for your choice of a coupe, convertible, or $55,000 cash. The 13th could be your lucky day! Raffles are an important part of the museum's income and are guaranteed to make at least one person very happy. Membership in the museum has many benefits.
