November - Lincourt Vineyards
Greetings
Greetings from the Sta. Rita Hills,
With harvest finishing early this year, we
are all looking forward to some rest. As
always, harvest was a wild ride filled with
six day work weeks and long fourteen hour
days. As I mentioned in my last letter,
the picking season started early this year
due to 2013’s warm growing conditions.
However, this resulted is beautifully rich
and ripe fruit with concentrated flavors
and balanced acidities. I predict the
wines of 2013 to be absolutely fantastic!
In this month’s shipment you have the
pleasure of being the first to try our 2012
Santa Ynez Sauvignon Blanc and our
2011 Annie Dyer Pinot Noir. For those
of you not familiar with the story behind
the name, the Annie Dyer Pinot was
named in honor of Bill’s grandmother.
She was a wife, mother and successful
writer who spent most of her life at the family’s ranch on the Texas panhandle. She was a
short story writer and had many articles published in the famous West and Frontier Times
Magazine. Like Annie herself, the 2011 Pinot Noir is generous and complex with rich, ripe
flavors and just a hint of spice accenting its plush dark fruit. Pair this wonderful wine with
a cozy winter meal or just by itself next to a warm fire.
On the flip side, you have our crisp and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc that’s a wonderful
reflection of the 2012 vintage. Its bright and zippy fruit expressions make it a fun wine
to drink as an aperitif or I recommend pairing it with a mild, herb-crusted white fish or
roasted chicken.
