Dear Friends of the YWCA,
The YWCA Greater Lafayette will be celebrating our
85th anniversary in 2014! What an impact this
organization has made in our community and we are
still going strong! All throughout the year we will be
offering events to highlight all that your YWCA has and
is doing to make a difference in the empowerment of
women. Let me personally invite you to take a look at
all of the exciting programs we are offering this winter!
Our Network Luncheon series will focus on “Vision to
Action: 85 years of Impacting our community.” As
always, this is your YWCA and we are here to offer
assistance, if needed, through our Domestic Violence
Intervention and Prevention Program and Women’s
Cancer Program. We wish to serve you in any way
possible to the very best of our ability. Our dream of
getting a new shelter and reopening our pool lives
strong. If you are so inclined and wish to support our
efforts, take a look at the donation form on the back of
this program guide, or visit us online at
www.ywcalafayette.org/donate to make a donation.
Please stop in, say hi to our wonderful staff, meet new
friends and check out what we have to offer. We always
love seeing you at your YWCA!

So? Does birth order matter?
Alfred Adler, the first

implications of birth order,
called it “the Rosetta Stone”
for understanding the
dynamics that govern family
members’ roles and

late to learn and laugh about
who we are and why we

(Published by Purdue

Angie Klink, Author
Angie will talk about five
inspirational women of substance:
Dorothy Stratton, Helen
Schleman, Beverly Stone,
Barbara Cook and Betty M.
Nelson
Often thwarted in their feminist
humanist endeavors, the Purdue
Deans of Women and Deans of
Students advocated for students
and others from the 1930s to
1990s. The women passed down
a secret Bible symbolizing their
professional and personal bond,
and their indomitable spirit of
justice. In the “deaning” trenches,
the women always knew they had
one another.
