New installation of "KIX-Medipac," a facility compliant with export
packing of pharmaceuticals
- First facility for the packing of pharmaceuticals in Japanese airports Kansai International Airport has been promoting the export and import of pharmaceuticals taking
advantage of its strategic position in coordination with local governments and the business
community.
Now, a facility specialized in the export packing of pharmaceutical products (called “KIX-Medipac”)
has been developed in the international cargo area of the airport. This is the first time that a facility
capable of providing export packing and storage of pharmaceutical products in one building has
been developed in a Japanese airport.
Kansai International Airport has been engaged in the creation of a cool chain connecting the whole
of the airport including the “constant temperature warehouse for pharmaceuticals (KIX-Medica)”
and the “operation of storage dolly” among others. With the completion of the development of
KIX-Medipac, it has now become possible to provide a safe and secure transportation of
pharmaceutical products to the destination by providing the export packaging.
We will continue to provide high convenience and quality to all those who handle pharmaceutical
products in the Kansai area and in the western part of Japan.
 Name of Facility:
KIX-Medipac
 Overview of Facility:
Constant temperature warehouse with an area of about 150m2
which is kept in the two temperature zones of 20˚C (about 50 to
100m2) and 5˚C (about 50 to 100m2), which is installed in the
Building A with an area of about 1,450m2 (including the area
under the eaves) in the International Cargo Area
 Characteristics of Facility:
Installed a variety of packing facilities and an constant
temperature warehouse with an area of about 150m 2 in one
building. Simulation of external environment such as an outside
temperature at the time of export in order to individually pack
pharmaceuticals of small to medium lots to be exported from
Japan requiring temperature control and the use of specially
prepared packing materials, refrigerants, heat storage agents and
the like within the constant temperature warehouse allow risks
such as temperature deviation, etc. to be eliminated and the
products to be transported safely to the destination.
