Tri-County Record, Rushford, MN Thursday, October 30, 2014 PAGE 9 AND THE WINNER IS... Tim O’Hare 2nd place goes to... Terry Cook MOST CORRECT $30 These two gentlemen were the only contestants with three wrong so we headed to the tiebreaker (32) once again. They both were over and it came to a fractional difference with Tim (42) topping Terry (42.5). That’s right, a half point difference. Right behind them with four wrong was Garry Ronnenberg, Jeremy Boyum, Clark Cords, Heath Ronnenberg, and myself. As someone who digs into statistics, I found some interesting ones for college football. With the powerhouses of the SEC-West having to play each other throughout the rest of the season, there is a 43 percent chance that one of them will end up with two losses and still make the final four. Of those teams with one loss, the best bets to win out are TCU, Michigan State, and Oregon with a 47 percent chance. Will a team with two losses knock out someone with one loss like the aforementioned teams or possibly Notre Dame, Ol’ Miss, or Georgia? The first Selection Committee rankings are out but who are these very powerful people? Spring Grove @ Grand Meadow 32nd Annual Tri-County Record/Merchant Football Contest $15 2nd PLACE Archie Manning has now resigned his position leaving twelve people. They include one writer, three with college coaching experience, three former NFL players, five current or past Athletic Directors, one former NCAA Director, and one Condolezza Rice. Some come under multiple areas of expertise….. except Condolezza Rice. Absolutely nobody got my trivia question right until the Monday mail came. In the mail Don Carlson of Houston correctly said Jon Lucivansky of Rochester was an NFL official. Jon is a field judge in the NFL and has worn #89 since 2009 with Pete Morelli’s crew. Last week he worked the Colts-Steelers game. Last weekend Ben Rothlisberger got his 100th win in his 150th start. Only three other quarterbacks won 100 within their first 150 starts. Name two of them and write them on the bottom line. R-P and Faribault both “came to play” last Saturday night and neither shied away from contact. There was a lot of heavy hitting going ALL CORRECT $100 OFFICAL ENTRY FORM WEEK #10 Name___________________________________ on and the B.A. boys got a bit frustrated when they fell way behind. Head Coach Scott Hanson told me, “We came out a little flat and they (R-P) got the jump on us. We’re a running team and have a hard time coming from behind. We’re not built for the passing game and we really had a hard time with their size. They really controlled the line of scrimmage.” R-P heads for Rochester to play the Blossoms Saturday night. A B.A. assistant told me if R-P plays like they did Saturday night, they won’t have any problem with the Bloomers. Well guys, play like you did last Saturday. It looked pretty good to me. The Blossoms are lead by senior QB John Rumpza who has passed for more than 100 touchdowns in his career. They seem to be a little pass-happy. Enjoy the weekend and we’ll see you back here next week. Don’t give up and as Casey Kasem always said, ‘keep reaching for the stars’. Happy Halloween and happy picking.
