Dr. Arnold and Joanne Zuroff, A”H The Zuroff’s were known well beyond the Detroit Jewish community for their chesed and philanthropy. With legendary caring and a fabulous sense of humor, Dr. Zuroff’s humanitarian work included millions of dollars of free root canals which he performed for people in need throughout the world. Joanne selflessly gave of herself to her family and community in many different venues. She was beloved by all. When Israel first became a state, Ben appealed to the Cincinnati Jewish Community for clothing which he packed and sent to the fledgling country at his own expense. Rose supported Ben in all his endeavors and was active herself in efforts to support Israel like the World Mizrachi Movement. Together with Rabbi Eliezer Silver, zt”l, Mr. Levinson was instrumental in the founding of the Cincinnati Hebrew Day School. Dr. Gary and Lois Marcus Mr. Dick Weiland, step brother to Lois, shared some of his thoughts with us on the Marcuses. “You will not find more caring people than Gary and Lois. They have committed themselves to continuing, both here and in California, the legacy of devotion to Jewish causes that was their grandfather Ben Levinson’s trademark.”
