Attachments Defined Why Electronic? • • • • Reduce cost of mailing attachments Reduce man-hours Expedite claims processing Improve collection rates Workflow Defined • In EDI Batch Window – Sort by Procedure Code Add Attachment Option • Step 1 – Mark procedure as: • Requires Attachment • Identifies which line items need attachments Sort by “Attach” Column • OPTIONAL STEP: • Possible to divide duties – Staff #1-Send claims not needing attachments in separate batch – Staff #2-Work the claims requiring attachments Add Attachment Option • Step 2 – Mark procedure as: • Send For Attachment • Sends information to NEA Application Attachments “Pending” • Status changes to “Pending” • Indicates action required in NEA Application The NEA Fast Attach Step • Step 3 – Launch NEA • Add attachments • Links the attachments to a Reference Number Launch NEA Application • Icon on Windows Desktop • Login with Facility ID • Add individual NEA credentials – Client can have multiple users with access to NEA App Working List • All “Pending” items in axiUm will display in NEA “Needs Attention – Add Required” • Highlight claim, “Edit” button Screen Capture • Screen Capture is most common method Click and Drag • Switch to axiUm • Locate/view attachment • Click and drag Import and Define • Import Image • Define: – Orientation: “The left side is the patient’s right side” option. – Date Taken: In this field, enter a date (e.g. today’s date). – Select Type: From the drop-down field select an image type (e.g. Bitewing) Next? • Click Next to save image • Repeat to attach additional images if required Save • Click “Save” to finish Ready to Send • Status changes to “Ready to Send” Add Attachment Option • Step 4 – Mark procedure as: • Update Attachment Status • Updates the status to show which items have attachments Meanwhile… Back in axiUm • Right Click, “Update Attachment Status” Attached • Status changes to “Attached” Viewing Details • To view information being sent to with the Electronic Claim Data Viewing Details • Electronic Attachment • NEA Attachment Reference # Add Attachment Option • Step 5 – Submit the Claims • Select All • Submit Available in Print Held • Electronic attachments work with Printed Claims too! • Same options except NEA attachment number appended to Printed Claim Getting Started • Available in axiUm version 6.01 and up • Just another reason to upgrade!
