By early 2012, the Mater Campus Hospital Development
will be complete. This project involves the rebuilding
of key parts of Mater Misericordiae University Hospital
including new Accident and Emergency, Outpatients
and Radiology Departments, 120 beds and a 444 space
car-park. It will bring substantially improved healthcare
facilities and services to patients, staff, visitors and the
local community. A National Paediatric Hospital is also
planned for the Mater site. Both the Mater adult hospital
and the National Paediatric Hospital will be served by
the Mater Metro Stop.
Construction work will necessitate a significant reduction
in the parking capacity of the Mater Staff Car Park and
the Mater Foundation Car Park, Eccles Street. Children’s
University Hospital Temple Street has limited staff
parking available.

travelling to and from the hospitals. Vipre (Ireland) Ltd
manages the Travelways Commuter Centre on behalf
of the hospitals as part of the implementation of a
workplace travel plan and to address transport issues in
the context of the ongoing developments.

The Cycle to Work Scheme allows staff to
purchase a bike and accessories through their
employer tax-free up to a maximum cost of
€1,000.
Pool Bike Scheme
The Pool Bike Scheme provides free bikes for staff,
which are well maintained and safe to ride, with
the necessary safety equipment. The bikes are
available for any kind of journey, typically for work
related trips or to try commuting to work.
