Presented By: John Callender Outline Based on the amount of time the United States has spent in war, we question whether or not the money spent in war is profitable for the country. We will cover the amount of defense spending throughout the years based on state of war and see how it affected the economy and health of the state. President’s Message As I mentioned last month, our own Great Lakes District of APICS will be hosting its 19th annual Student Case Competition on February 21 and 22. We have 24 teams (our limit) already signed up and ready to participate. It is a busy and fun-packed weekend for the student competitors and for the professional members that attend. I am looking forward to it. The winning team will represent our district at the International APICS Conference in New Orleans in October. APICS hopes to have a team from every district competing. There is no meeting this month, but we hope to see you in March. We will be having presentations from grad students and their professors at U W Parkside. Are you interested in having a student as an intern? You can find out more at the meeting on that also. Our CSCP certification class is running currently (when the snow/cold does not close the school!). Speaking of which, I would like to share a short poem I received. WISCONSIN POEM It’s winter in Wisconsin March 19 May 21 And the gentle breezes blow Seventy miles an hour At twenty five below.
