2014 Silver Coupe
Before the start of the meeting, Chatty Reed, coChairperson of the September 2013 Car Show
presented a check for $5500 to a representative from
the Home of the Brave Foundation in Milford. This
money is the proceeds from our car show at the
Delaware State Fairgrounds. Accepting the check was
Home of the Brave board of directors member Toni
Bergfeder with her husband Henry. Toni gave a short
narrative on how the Home of the Brave is
progressing and announced the opening of a
Women’s place in February. She also answered a few
questions from members that were not familiar with
this organization.
President: Bruce welcomed visitors to our meeting;
Tom Livingood from Townsend Brothers Chevrolet and
Paul & Georgia Pendexter, past members of FSCC.
Bruce also announced that with sponsor monies due,
we need to discuss donating some of our growing
treasury.
Vice-President: Chatty announced that he will be
doing a Spring Cruise-In (somewhere??), and the
October Drive Around Dover Downs again. He is also
working on a Summer ride-around at the New Jersey
Motorsports Park, which has a road course. Upcoming
meetings are scheduled as follows:
Wed. Feb 5 Grotto Pizza, Dover
Wed. Mar 5 Abbott’s Grill, Milford
Wed. Apr 2 Roma Italian Rest, Dover
Secretary: Always check the website for newest
activities and past happenings. And with so many
new members, please remember to sign in at the
meetings. People seem to have trouble with the
sign in sheet – PLEASE check your name off in
FRONT OF YOUR NAME. I tried to make it
easier by color coordinating the boxes….There
are people attending that don’t even know
it…… The TENTATIVE schedule of activities is now
on the website. If you think of something to do, be
sure to let an officer know.
Treasurer: Submitted by Kathy Olechny
Beginning Balance
Deposits
Withdrawals
Ending Balance
A motion was made by Tyler Bullock, seconded by
Dave Zerbe to accept the treasurer’s report as read.
Passed Unanimously.
Kathy explained that this
balance does not include the $5500 check to the
Home of the Brave or the amount owed the
Harrington Casino for the Christmas Party.
Membership: We currently have 169 members.
Corresponding Secretary: no report but we
wanted to mention that cards were sent out to
those sick or in the hospital.
Joyce Melvin is still in the University of Penn
Hospital in Philadelphia.
Philomena Meehan is home after surgery in Dover.
Linda Baker is home after surgery in Dover.
John Cullen is recovering from hand surgery.
And we send our condolences to Frank & Linda
Silvaggio in the death of Frank’s mother.
Publicity: no report
Parade Chairman: no report
Quartermaster – Sandy reports she sold 13 items
at the November meeting. She also has extra 2013
Car Show dash plaques available – pick one up.
National Corvette Museum – No Report - Check
out www.corvettemuseum.com.
Committee Reports:
Christmas Party – Sandy Powell reported that we
made just less than $2000 on the raffle and silent
auction. We also had $234 in the Food Bank jar
and this was presented to the Food Bank in
December by Jack Powell. Speaking of Jack, we
send out our condolences to his foot that had a
brief encounter with the tire of their new Corvette.
Seems while Sandy was backing out of the casino,
and Jack was directing, he decided to put his foot
right in the path of the tire. I can’t repeat most of
the suggestions for next time. At least he wasn’t
limping……
Scholarship – in the absence of Chairperson Lois
Murray, Bruce relayed the information that with
Scholarship letters going out at the end of January,
Lois will be calling her committee to meet next
week to go over changed in the application.
2
Car Show Committee Meeting – Chatty wanted to
let everyone know that the Car Show committee will
be meeting on Thursday Jan. 16th at Teal
Construction office on 612 Mary Street in Dover, at
6:30pm. All members are welcome. This meeting
will start discussion on the 2014 Car Show. If you
have ideas, please come.
Past Events
Upcoming Events
Sun. Jan 26– Mystery Lunch Cruise – Even if the
weather is bad, we will go in our “civilian” cars, as
Norm calls them. Short ride – about 30 miles.
Sun Feb 16 – Bowling at the Milford Bowling
Lanes.
Sat. Mar 22 – Bus trip to the World Trade
Center Memorial.
Sat. Apr 5 – Breakfast Cooking at Ronald
McDonald House in Wilmington
May 2-3-4 – Apple Blossom Festival near

Old Business
New Business
Scholarship – a discussion was brought up about
the dollar amount for scholarships. In 2012 we
voted to use the money from 50/50’s to sponsor
$500 scholarships – the number being determined by
the 50/50 amount. Kathy Olechny suggested we
should consider using $2000 of the treasury since it
is too large. A motion was made by Darlene Hurley,
seconded by Ken Messer to offer 4 - $500
scholarships this year. Motion was passed with one
opposed.
New Members – Richard and Linda Cooke of
Smyrna have a 2014 Silver Coupe that is
somewhere on the assembly line in Bowling Green.
The Cooke’s were sponsored by Donnie and
Dorothy Ringgold. Welcome and can’t wait to see
your new Corvette.
Good of the Organization:
Visitor Tom Livingood from Townsend Brothers
Chevrolet brought some stats sheets on the new
Sting Ray to share with members.
He also
announced that Townsend Brothers will be getting
a 2014 Green Coupe in February and a 2014 Black
Coupe in March.
Ed Marcelle wanted to remind members that
Townsend Brothers, one of our sponsors, will sell
you any kind of Chevrolet, not just a Corvette.
Support our sponsors.
Norm mentioned that the “guys” will be getting
together for breakfast at Bob Evans in Camden on
Friday morning, Jan 10th. 9am. The ladies Booed
over that “guys” remark so careful Norm, you may
be flooded with women…….
Motion made by Mel Geiger, seconded
by Dave Zerbe to adjourn the meeting.
Meeting Adjourned at 7:55 pm
Respectfully Submitted,
Donna Ballard, FSCC Secretary
