Elizabeth’s to host
Ribbon Cutting and Grand
Opening event Friday
You are invited to the Grand Opening of
Atchison’s new premier event space, located
above Jerry’s Again.
Join your fellow Chamber members for
this exciting event, beginning at 5 p.m. this
Friday, July 12. Enjoy complimentary hors
d’oeuvres and soft drinks. Following a
ceremonial ribbon cutting at 5:15 p.m., stick
around for the rest of the celebration.
Both levels, Jerry’s Again on the lower
level and Elizabeth’s on the upper level, will
have cash bars open. Courtney Edmonds
will provide musical entertainment beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by The Garin
Nolan Trio at 8 p.m.
Local business people invited to
tour Citadel Caverns and attend
Ribbon Cutting
Coby Cullins, owner of Citadel Caverns
(formerly Atchison Strategic Storage Facility), invites local business people to a tour
of the facility also known as the Atchison
Caves. Citadel Caverns is the newest member of the Chamber.
Tours are available at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and
3 p.m. on July 24, and at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., 1
p.m. and 3 p.m. on July 25.
There will also be a ceremonial Ribbon
Cutting at 12:45 p.m.
Tour spots are limited, so please call the
Chamber at 913-367-2427 to reserve your spot.
Free Labor Law posters
available for Chamber members
Thanks to a generous donation from
Coby Cullins and MO-KAN Underground,
the Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce will
offer free 2013 Labor Law posters to all of its
member businesses.
The State of Kansas made some changes to
the laws, so all businesses will need new posters
this year.
Stop by the Santa Fe Depot at 200 S. 10th
Street to pick up your set of two posters.
Cullins, the owner of MO-KAN Underground, recently purchased the Atchison Strategic Storage Facility, also known as the Atchison
Caves, and renamed it Citadel Caverns.
Tinker family to attend vintage
baseball game in Muscotah
The grandson of baseball hall of famer Joe
Tinker (of the Chicago Cubs’ famed Tinker to
Evers to Chance combination) will attend the
vintage baseball game set for July 27 at the
Tinker Museum in Muscotah. The family will
participate in a Q&A before the 4 p.m. ballgame.

Festival! We will welcome

community. This is Atchison’s time to shine! We’re

great time at the Festival,

We have finally completed the work on our
tobacco barn event space at our Estate Vineyards
location and are now taking reservations for weddings, receptions, parties and corporate events. We
also have several exciting events planned for this
new space.

July 22: Stained Glass Angel Making
Working with stained glass is an art many are interested in! Participants will get to make a free-standing angel to take home! The class will be limited to
six people and will be led by Michele Gaskell, owner
of Michele’s Glass Studio. 6-8 p.m. $20.
July 25: Extreme Couponing
Come learn the tips and tricks of saving money at
the store! Participants will learn how to get organized
and how to save the most money locally! The class
will be led by Kim Bottorff, organizer of the Atchison
Couponers group. 6-7:30 p.m. $15.

Summer Blood Drive

The Community Blood Center, the provider of blood
to the Atchison Community Hospital is in need of summer
blood drive sponsors.
The flu and snow has had a significant impact on our
overall collections. Unfortunately, we continue to experience a significant decline in our collections. The Community Blood Center in St. Joseph Missouri is currently seeking church, clubs, organizations, businesses, and schools to
help meet the demand for summer blood. We are in need
of summer blood drive sponsors. If you or your group
