Perfetti Van Melle is a privately owned company, producing and distributing candies
and chewing gums in more than 130 countries worldwide. The company was established in March 2001 and is now the third largest confectionery group in the world,
and the first to be present in the main Asian markets. Employing over 14,000 people
and operating 32 companies throughout the world, Perfetti Van Melle has a true global reach. It is present in the Asia Pacific Region, Europe, Middle East, Africa and the
Americas. Its corporate headquarters are located in Lainate (Italy) and Breda (The
Netherlands).

Management for its Global Transactions
“We first came across Hanse Orga when we were looking for a solution to automate
our bank statement and remittance advice processing back in 2008. Due to the integration in SAP ® and sophisticated functions we chose the FinanceSuite AutoBank Automatic Cash Application of Hanse Orga and have since then achieved automatic reconciliation rates of 84 % and more. As we have been very satisfied with their solution
and know-how, we immediately included Hanse Orga in our shortlist when we issued
a request for proposals to technology providers to help us improve our payments
processes and cash management” explains Martijn van de Graaf, Associate Corporate
Treasurer at Perfetti Van Melle in the Netherlands. “At that point, treasury was not on
our list of goals. However, during the business case Hanse Orga presented on their

they identified further optimization potential with
the new FinanceSuite module for Treasury Management. As we did recognize the fact that we could
do with an update of our treasury transactions, we
were very interested in this new solution of Hanse
Orga. As their Treasury Management is fully integrated in SAP® and provides lean and efficient
treasury features, we decided to go for it and become a launching customer for this product. Due to
our involvement of the first hour, we were able to
provide some useful input and help shape the product”, continues Perfetti’s Treasurer.
Project implementation
With the previous system Perfetti Van Melle did not
have an up-to-date, daily cash visibility across the
group which put limitations to their cash forecasting
horizons and treasury transactions. Moreover, they
had to input all data in their central SAP® system as
well as the treasury system. With the FinanceSuite,
on the contrary, the company can now avoid such
double administration, as the system is fully integrated in SAP®. The different levels of sophistication
between the entities had made the former system
environment very heterogeneous. No remote access
for signatories was available which slowed down the
authorization processes when the signatory was on
a business trip, for instance. Urgent payments and
financial transactions were often delayed due to
fragmented processes. This is particularly challenging in such a fast moving area as treasury operations. Hanse Orga has provided Perfetti Van Melle
with everything that is important for a state-of-theart treasury: homogenous and automated processes, security, unlimited cash forecasting horizons,
daily cash overview, evaluation of treasury trades,
automatic posting of treasury trades in SAP® and
much more. Moreover, the solution provides comfortable entry masks that are tailored perfectly to the
needs of a treasurer, and all transactions can be easily viewed in a single screen giving the treasurer the
clear overview that was desired. “The greatest advantage of an SAP ®-integrated treasury solution for
us is the fact that we can follow the entire process
of a transaction from when it is entered into with a
counterparty via registering, posting, settling and
finally reconciliating of the statement. Therefore,
we have gained a more holistic view of the entire
process which significantly helps us in our business
decisions”, affirms van de Graaf. “Thanks to Hanse
Orga, we now have achieved homogenous levels of
sophistication and have harmonized the processes
for the authorization processes as well as for cash
reporting across the group including cash positions,
intercompany positions, hedging positions, KPIs,
limit management, counterparty risk to name but
a few. We have achieved a detailed counterparty
risk analysis as well as a central and harmonized reporting across the entire group” summarises Martjin
