MAY 27-30, 2016 - Greater Houston Gun Club
k c a b w o r th MAY 27-30, 2016 ATTENTION ALL SKEET SHOOTERS! We are calling you out for the 2016 Briley Blue Goose. Saddle up and come on down Memorial weekend to Greater Houston Gun Club for the 2016 Briley Blue Goose –Throwback. The theme this year is “Throwback”. Meaning we are reviving everything that is fun about skeet shooting. This is not going to be your basic skeet tournament. YOU WILL HAVE FUN and if you don’t there is no hope for you. Think back long and hard about why you started shooting skeet tournaments. Why you are passionate about it. What about it makes you feel good. Yes, shooting the targets is fun but the entire experience is what it’s about. Our program…. Wait… our “Super Program” is filled to the brim with the stuff you remember and love about coming to shoots. To start we encourage everyone to bust out your old vintage skeet gear. This could be anything from the 70’s to the 90’s. We have a very special prize for the person who shows their Briley pride with the best vintage Briley gear. So dig deep into your old sock drawer and let’s see what you got. While we encourage you to participate all weekend, Saturday night we will have participants show off their gear for a chance to win some great prizes. A panel of judges and YOU will decide whose got the best Vintage Briley gear. See the program for prize info and further details. The prelim event on Friday is a timed event that will test your shooting skills while under the pressure of a clock. That’s all I will say on that for now. See the program for details. When is the last time you went to a shoot that had a Calcutta? Saturday night during dinner while the margaritas are flowing we will have a live auction. Bring your check book and get ready for the fun! Again more details in the program. A 64 person single elimination Handicapped tournament will run concurrently with the shoot as well. Shooters buy in for $15 and try to last through each round until the finals in the .410. The two finalist will shoot off Monday for the cash. Winner and runner up split 60/40. Door Prize madness, Crab legs, perfect targets, best refs in the game and the standard of excellence you have come to expect from Greater Houston Gun Club and the Briley Blue Goose. REGISTRATION This year Myskeet will be the official registration and scoring program. At www.myskeet.com you can very easily register and pay your deposit online! Every person who signs up online before May 1st will receive 1 box of Winchester 20ga ammo. You can always send in your registration form the traditional way as well. There is no need to run from station to station as you will only be timed while on the station when you are actually shooting. In this game its not just how many targets you break, your score is calculated using a progressive formula that includes your score and your time to produce your “Time/Target Ratio”. Your Time/Target Ratio will determine who wins. All participants will compete within their 20GA class. Format 72 targets –20 Gauge For each round participants will shoot a high house, low house and a pair on stations one through 6. Each round consists of 24 targets and no option shot. On station 4 participants have the option of shooting the pair any way they choose. Referees will score and operate the stop watch. Shooters in the squad will pull the targets. How it works The Referee will have a stop watch. You step into the shooting station and load your gun. As soon as you call pull the clock starts. You shoot your singles and then reload (clock is still running while reloading) and shoot your pair. Once the referee hears the last shot of your pair the timer stops and your target count and time are recorded for that station. *For any gun malfunctions, timer malfunctions or broken targets the shooter must start the station completely over with nothing established. **For safety reasons a minimum time per station of 9.5 seconds will be the fastest time you can achieve. If your time is faster than that the referee will record an 9.5 second time. *** Max time for a station is 14 seconds. How your final score is determined The scoring will be progressive so you’re never out of the game. Round 1 –Your target score x 5 Round 2 –Your target score x 10 EXAMPLE #1: Kevin Round 3 –Your target score x 15 Round #1 –Breaks 22 targets x 5 = 110 Once you complete the last round we add up your total times from the entire three rounds. We add your target scores including the multipliers and divide that by your time for your Target/Time Ratio. Round #2 –Breaks 20 targets x 10 = 200 Round #3 –Breaks 19 targets x 15 = 285 Total score with multipliers = 595 Your target/time ratio will determine your place in your 20ga Gauge class. Kevin’s total accumulated time is 61.23 seconds 595 / 61.23 = 9.717 All practical skeet shoot offs will be regular shoot offs. s e i t i v i act EXTRA CURRICULAR Vintage Gear While we are encouraging people to where vintage shooting gear from the 70s-90s we have a very special prize that will be awarded to the person with the most interesting vintage Briley gear. Saturday night we will enlist a panel of judges who will judge the participants on their attire. Your applause will also help in judging the participants. Get ready to fall out of your seat during the “Pageant”. 1st place prize –Full entry into the 2017 Briley Blue Goose 2nd place prize –Case of 12ga Ammo 3rd place prize –Yeti cup Last place –Customized Yeti cup So dig bust out all the old shooting gear and lets do this!!
