First Launch and Initial Setup Launch the application, create your Ensoul Library and configure device sync settings. 1. Launch Ensoul directly from your Dock or from the Applications folder right after you obtain it at the Mac App Store: Ensoul User Guide - 7 MacPaw Inc. 2. Choose the type of your iPhone: 1) Select 'Retina Display' if you have an iPhone 4 device or 'Classic Display' if you have an older model. 2) Click the 'Choose' button to continue. The main Ensoul window is ready to help you create new Wallpapers and Contact Photos: Ensoul is ready to go, but we recommend to set up your synchronization settings before you start creating new images. Ensoul User Guide - 9 MacPaw Inc. Synchronization Settings Configure the way you will be transferring your new Wallpapers and Contact Photos to your iPhone. If you still haven't synchronized your iPhone with your Mac, we recommend you to do that via iTunes: 1) Connect the iPhone to your Mac and launch iTunes. 2) Select the device in the left bar of the application: Now you are able to configure some sync settings of your phone in the main area of iTunes. Configure Wallpapers Synchronization Choose your Ensoul Library to be synced from its original location on your Mac. Note: If you already have your iTunes set up to sync iPhoto albums, you don't need to change your Ensoul User Guide - 10 MacPaw Inc. settings. You will be able to share your Wallpapers with iPhoto and sync them like an iPhoto album: Configure Contacts Synchronization Set all your Address Book contacts to be synced with the phone. This way all your new Contact Photos will immediately appear on your iPhone just after you sync it with your Mac. Note: If you use MobileMe to synchronize your Mac and iPhone, you don't need to set up sync in iTunes. Just synchronize your Address Book as you did before after you create some new contact photos. Creating Wallpapers Learn the easy steps to create custom wallpapers for your iPhone using literally any image you may have. 1. Open the Wallpapers area of Ensoul: Ensoul User Guide - 13 MacPaw Inc. Have a look at the right bar of the application: Ensoul allows you to navigate through your photos and create Wallpapers from a variety of sources: - iPhoto - Aperture - Photo Booth - Default 'Pictures' folder or any other folder in Finder - The Examples Library of Ensoul Ensoul User Guide - 14 MacPaw Inc. Select the image you would like to work with: Just click on any image in the right bar of Ensoul and you will immediately see a preview of it on the iPhone screen in the middle. Edit your Wallpapers: If you would like to modify the new Wallpaper, please use the 'Edit' button below the iPhone screen to open the Navigation dialog of Ensoul. Ensoul User Guide - 17 MacPaw Inc. This dialog will help you see the particular area that covers the device screen while you move or zoom the image using any gestures directly on the iPhone screen. If you would like to access some additional color and orientation adjustments, please click the 'Adjust' button from the bottom bar of Ensoul: Ensoul User Guide - 18 MacPaw Inc. You will find this separate dialog on your screen: Adjust any of the available settings and preview the immediate result on the iPhone screen. Use the 'Reset' button if you would like to revert the changes. The additional buttons on the bottom bar will also help you rotate or resize the image without having to use any gestures or opening the adjustment dialog: Lock or unlock the iPhone screen to make sure the created Wallpaper looks great in both cases. Sync your Wallpapers: All you need to do now is click the Sync button in the bottom left corner of Ensoul or share your Wallpapers with iPhoto and sync them like an album. In this case you basically do not need to set up anything in iTunes. Just create contact pictures for your Address Book using Ensoul and sync your devices as you did before. 2. My iPhoto albums are already set up to sync via iTunes. How can I also add Ensoul Library to the sync list? In this case you should share your newly-created pictures with iPhoto by selecting them and clicking iPhoto in the Share menu of Ensoul. Sync the images just as you did before without having to reconfigure anything in iTunes. 3. I have some nice pictures in a separate folder on my system, which I cannot seem to access from Ensoul. How can I add those pictures? Please note that Ensoul supports drag&drop functionality from literally any location. Just open any folder or external device, select your pictures there and drag them onto the Wallpaper area of Ensoul or onto the iPhone screen inside it. 4. Can it only crop pictures to fit the iPhone screen or do I have any other options? Ensoul can adjust your images in a variety of ways. What you need to do is select a picture you would like to modify, add it to Wallpapers or set as one of your Contacts and click 'Edit' in the left lower corner of the main Ensoul area. Use gestures to rotate, zoom or move the picture and click the Adjust button if you would like to work with some color settings. 5. How do I go back to the initial dialog where I could choose the iPhone model I have and create a new library? Just click the 'New Library…' option in the main Ensoul menu to create another library or select another ready library to work with. You can create numerous Ensoul libraries if needed.
