THE BEST OF THE 2009
The Best of Ottawa program showcases many of the outstanding films presented in our
Official Competition. The 2009 program includes such exceptional films as: David OReilly’s
award-winning sci-fi drama “Please Say Something”; the innovative and mesmerizing “The
Bellow’s March”, directed by Eric Dyer; Diego Maclean’s haunting student film entitled “The
Art of Drowning”; and the crowd-favourite travelogue “Madagascar, A Journey Diary”, by
Bastien Dubois.
Best of Ottawa 2009 is only a sample of the outstanding animated works screened at the
2009 Ottawa International Animation Festival. Don't miss out on the full festival experience!

The program began touring internationally in November 2009 and wraps up at the beginning

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Ottawa International Animation Festival
(OIAF) is the largest of its kind in North
America, attracting film buffs, art lovers,
filmmakers, and cartoon fans from around the
world to the nation's capital. Yet again, the
2009 Festival received a record number of
entries, with 2185 film submissions from 78
countries around the world. Of the entries
submitted, only 100 were chosen to compete
in the Official Competition, which took place
October 14th-18th, in Ottawa, Ontario. The
selected films competed in five main
categories: Feature Film, Independent Short
Films, Commissioned Films, Student Films
and Animation Made for Children. Prizes
were awarded for each competition and
individual competition category.
