Congratulations on organizing a Game Day event! Game Day is an excellent opportunity
to showcase the Standard decks featured in the most recent high-level tournaments.

How Do I Run the Tournament?
The event should be run Swiss-style with players of the same record playing each other. The
number of rounds depends on the number of players you have; Wizards Event Reporter will
calculate this for you automatically. To run a playoff after the Swiss rounds, make a cut to
Top 8 for single elimination. If you have 16 players or fewer, cut to a Top 4 instead (though
the Top 8 players still receive prize cards).

What Does a “Standard Deck” Mean?

your Game Day event
The Standard format uses only the newest sets the Magic™ game has to offer. The current
block, the block that was released the previous year, and the most recent core set or sets
are all legal to play in a Standard deck. As you can tell from the name, Standard is the most
commonly played format. The sets legal in Standard rotate when the first set of the year’s
new block is released, typically in September or October.
The following sets are Standard-legal as of the release of Dragons of Tarkir™: Theros™,
Born of the Gods™, Journey into Nyx™, Magic 2015, Khans of Tarkir™, Fate Reforged™,
and Dragons of Tarkir.
