Background
Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers has been serving up fresh, stone-baked pizzas to
order in an eclectic, art-filled, and family-friendly environment since 1974. Each Mellow
location is locally owned and operated and provides a unique feel focused around great
customer service and high-quality food. Mellow Mushrooms offer an entertaining dining
experience in an art-filled environment. Each store carries on this tradition by adding
unique elements within the branded experience.
For Mellow Mushroom, LumaStream designed a lighting environment that highlighted
its kitschy artistic design elements and provided a comfortably lit dining experience for
customers.

How We Did It
Common sense and some very smart technology.
We have the only low-voltage solution that can convert AC to DC power and run that
power over 200 feet. Each of our power drivers supports 12 channels that can run up to
24 60-watt equivalent lights from a single low-voltage source. This technology allows
us to design a highly efficient system for our clients. For Mellow Mushroom we were
able to reduce the number of circuits required for lighting from ten (10) to three (3).
Additionally, our fixtures can be controlled individually and placed strategically to focus
attention to details with more interest, like the pop-culture souvenirs that are central to
the Mellow Mushroom brand. Here’s how we did it:

We installed the system in two days: Our low-voltage lighting system does not
require conduit, only Class 2 wire, which is safer and easier to manage
We reduced hardware costs: We make many of the products we sell which keeps
hardware costs in-line
We spared seven circuits: Only three (3) circuits to run our low-voltage solution,
rather than the originally specified ten (10).
We simplified the lighting control: The original lighting design recommended a
two panel, 22 dimmer system. Our solution reduced that to two single- gang “scene
stations” offering a simplified interface and superior lighting control
