PERFECTION, PROFESSION and PASSION
Tradition ist für uns mehr als ein Wort, es ist ein Bekenntnis:
Schon seit mehr als 125 Jahren werden von der Scheren
manufaktur Paul erstklassige Scheren nach den Methoden
überlieferter Handwerkskunst produziert.
Gründer ist im Jahr 1886 der Solinger Messerschmied
Karl Paul. So gut ist die Qualität der Scheren, dass bereits
wenige Jahre später an tausende Geschäfte weltweit geliefert
wird und Paul zu einem technologisch führenden Unternehmen
der Scherenfertigung aufsteigt, das wiederholt Weltneuheiten
patentiert. Es ist auch heute noch inhabergeführt und viele der
über 60 Mitarbeiter sind bereits lange Jahre bei uns tätig.
Aus Überzeugung sind wir eine Manufaktur, in der ein
hoher Anteil traditioneller, handwerklicher Fertigung von modernsten Präzisionswerkzeugen unterstützt wird. Die Verbindung
von harmonischer Formgebung und optimaler Funktionalität
garantiert die Langlebigkeit unserer Produkte.
Wir fertigen ausschließlich in Deutschland. Von der Pro
duktentwicklung bis zum Versand erfolgen alle Schritte unter
einem Dach und sämtliche Materialien, die wir verwenden,
recyceln wir auch. Als Familienunternehmen sind wir eingebunden in die Region. Wir erhalten einen der wenigen verbleibenden mittelständischen Produktionsbetriebe und schaffen
Ausbildungs- und Arbeitsplätze.
Kein Werkzeug ist so feinfühlig und vielseitig wie die
menschliche Hand und auch die beste Präzisionsmaschine kann
sie nicht ersetzen. Manu factum bedeutet von Hand gemacht –
und wir sind seit der Gründung vor über 125 Jahren aus Über
zeugung eine Manufaktur.
Jedes Werkstück geht durch etliche geduldige Hände,
die ihm die Perfektion und Qualität verleihen, für die Scheren
von Paul bekannt sind. Es braucht viel Erfahrung und Kunst
fertigkeit, um ein Scherenblatt im exakt richtigen Winkel an das
Schleifband zu halten, damit die Schere später wie von selbst
durch Stoff oder Papier gleitet. Unsere Mitarbeiter sind Meister
ihres Fachs, die mit Sorgfalt und Hingabe jedes Detail be
arbeiten. Am Schluss wird jede Schere noch einmal aufmerksam überprüft, bevor sie in die Hände ihres neuen Besitzers
gelangt.

The Solinger cutler Karl Paul founds the family business
in 1886. The scissors are of such excellent quality that they are
distributed worldwide to thousands of shops within only a few
years, and Paul advances to become a leading enterprise in the
technology of scissor manufacturing, patenting one worldwide
innovation after the next. The manufactory is still under ownermanagement and a large number of the 60 staff members have
been working at the company for many years.
By firm conviction, we are a manufactory with a high
percentage of traditional, hand-crafted production that is
supported by state-of-the-art precision tools. The combination
of ergonomic design and optimal functionality guarantees the
durability of our products.
All components are exclusively “made in Germany”. From
product development on to shipping, all steps are coordinated
under one roof and we recycle all materials used. As a familyowned business we are integrated in the region. We operate
one of the few remaining mid-sized production companies and
create jobs and training opportunities.
There is no tool as meticulous and versatile as the human hand – and it can’t be replaced by even the best precision
machine. Manu factum means made by hand – and we are a
manufactory by firm conviction, since our establishment more
than 125 years ago.
Each workpiece passes through many patient hands,
which furnish it with the perfection and quality that hallmark
Paul scissors. It takes great skill and craftsmanship to hold
a scissor blade on the grinding band at exactly the right angle,
in order to create a pair of scissors that seems to effortlessly
glide through fabric or paper. Our staff members are masters
of their craft, who process each detail with great care and
dedication. In the final step, each individual piece is carefully
examined once more before it is received by the hands of its
new owner.

A MATTER OF EXPERIENCE: ASSEMBLY AND CONTROL
Die Seele einer Schere ist ihr Schliff. Für jeden Verwendungszweck bieten wir einen speziellen Schliff an. Geflügelscheren
zum Beispiel sind ausgestattet mit einer gezahnten Wate,
einige Küchen- und technische Scheren haben unsere Mikro
verzahnung, die das Schnittgut optimal in Position hält. Die
meisten Scheren werden bei uns von Hand an traditionellen
Präzisionsschleifmaschinen geschliffen – ein Vorgang der viel
Erfahrung erfordert.
Am Griff der Schere entscheidet sich, ob man ohne zu
ermüden mit ihr schneiden kann. Für unsere hochwertigsten
Scheren wird der anatomisch geformte Kunststoffgriff im
Spritzguss-Verfahren direkt auf die Scherenhälften aus Stahl
aufgebracht. Die Griffe von geschmiedeten Scheren bestehen
aus Edelstahl, sie werden zusammen mit den Becken in einem
Stück geformt.
Dass die sorgfältig vorbereiteten Becken zu einer Schere mit
präzisem Schnitt und weichen Gang zusammen finden, liegt an
unseren erfahrenen Monteuren. Von Hand legen sie die Hälften
aufeinander, fügen die Lagerbuchse ein und ziehen die Schraube
vorsichtig an. Dann wird die Schere „auf Spitze gesetzt“, also
noch einmal ausgerichtet. Es braucht viel handwerkliches
Feingefühl für die Montage: In diesem Moment wird die Schere
zum Leben erweckt.
In Sachen Qualität machen wir keine Kompromisse:
Bevor sie unser Haus verlässt, wird jede einzelne Schere noch
einmal sorgfältig überprüft. Unsere Mitarbeiter inspizieren
sie auf perfekte Oberflächen, sauber gestaltete Griffe, sowie
auf den richtigen Gang. Erst wenn die Schere diese Tests über
standen hat, ist sie bereit für Ihren ersten Besitzer.
The grind is the soul of a pair of scissors. For each individual
intended use, we offer you a special grind. Poultry shears,
for example, have a serrated grind, some kitchen and technical
scissors are provided with our micro serration, which holds
the material to be cut in the correct position. We grind most
scissors by hand on traditional precision grinding machines –
a procedure that requires great skill and experience.
The handle of the scissors determines whether it rests
comfortably in the hand and does not cause fatigue during
cutting. For our top-of-the-line scissors, the plastic handle is
directly applied to the steel scissor blade by an injection
moulding process. The handles of forged scissors are made of
stainless steel; they are formed in the embers in one piece
together with the blades.

It is the responsibility of our assemblers to join the two meticulously crafted scissor blades to make a pair of scissors that is
defined by cutting accuracy and smooth operation. The halves
are placed on top of each other by hand, and those same hands
insert the bearing bushing and the screw, to carefully tighten
them. After joining the blades, the scissor is “pointed” for final
alignment. Great sensitivity is required for the assembly: this
is the moment when the scissors comes to life.
Before leaving our premises, designated employees care
fully inspect each individual scissors to ensure perfect surfaces,
cleanly designed handles, and smooth, precision operation.
Only when the scissors has successfully passed all of these
tests, is it perfect enough for its first owner.

THIS MAKES OUR SCISSORS SO UNIQUE
Drei Qualitätsmerkmale sind es, die eine gute Schere kennzeichnen: Funktionalität, Ergonomie und Verarbeitung.
Zur FUNKTIONALITÄT gehört natürlich als erstes, dass
die Schere scharf ist. Dafür ist der Winkel der Schneidkante
– auch Wate genannt – verantwortlich. Jeder Anwendungsbereich erfordert einen anderen Winkel und damit dieser wirklich
optimal gerät, schleifen wir ihn von Hand. Damit die Schere
dauerhaft scharf bleibt, verwenden wir bestes Ausgangsmaterial:
Solinger Stahl. Dieser wird gestanzt, gehärtet und gerichtet,
bis er unseren hohen Qualitätsanforderungen entspricht.
Für die meisten Scheren setzen wir die Verbindungsschraube in spezielle Lager aus glasfaserverstärktem Polyamid.
Diese Schraubverbindung haben wir selbst entwickelt, sie ist
elastisch, verschleißfrei, gibt der Schere den notwendigen
Halt, und lässt sich nachjustieren. Nachhaltigkeit ist uns sehr
wichtig: Ein Fachmann kann die Schraube lösen und die Schere
nachschleifen – so gewinnt sie eine außerordentlich lange
Lebensdauer.
Die schärfste Schere wäre nutzlos, wenn sie nicht angenehm in Ihrer Hand läge. Hier kommt die ERGONOMIE ins
Spiel: Unsere Scheren lassen sich mit gleichbleibend geringem
Kraftaufwand öffnen und schließen, weil wir die Innenseiten
auf Präzisionsmaschinen schleifen, um den Reibungswider
stand zu minimieren. Die Form unserer Griffe und das Scherenauge sind auf die Anatomie der menschlichen Hand abgestimmt, so dass die Schere sich sicher und ermüdungsfrei führen
lässt und sich die Kraft Ihrer Hand optimal auf die Schneid
kante überträgt.
Funktionalität und Ergonomie sind das Ergebnis erst
klassiger VERARBEITUNG. Die Oberfläche unserer Scheren ist
glatt, akkurat geschliffen und sorgfältig mattiert oder poliert.
Der Reibungswiderstand ist optimal justiert, das Innere des
Scherenauges ist gratfrei und glatt. Die Spitze der Schere passt
in geschlossenem Zustand perfekt aufeinander. Die Schere
schneidet durchgängig - von der Spitze bis zum Ende – gut,
sauber und ohne zu haken. Jede Schere wird geölt und per
Hand auf ihren Gang und Schnitt getestet, bevor sie das Haus
verlässt.
Das alles ist nicht selbstverständlich – für uns allerdings
schon. Die Qualität unserer Scheren können Sie spüren und
sehen.
There are three features of quality that characterise a good pair
of scissors: functionality, ergonomics and workmanship.
FUNCTIONALITY, of course, is based primarily on a pair
of scissors being sharp. This is the result of the angle of the
cutting edge – also known as the grind. Each application
requires a different angle and in order for this to be optimally
realised, we grind our scissors by hand. We use superior quality
raw materials to keep our scissors sustainably sharp: Solingen
steel. This is stamped, tempered and aligned until it meets our
high standard of quality.
Most of our scissors are fastened with a connecting screw
in a special bushing made of glass fibre reinforced polyamide.
This screw connection was developed in-house, is flexible, wearfree, gives the scissors stability, and allows for readjustment.
Sustainability is of particular importance to us: a professional
can remove the screw to regrind the scissors – this provides it
with an exceptionally long service life.
The sharpest pair of scissors would be useless if it didn’t
rest comfortably in your hand. Here is where ERGONOMICS
comes in: our scissors can be opened and closed with a uniform
minimum amount of force, which is the result of minimal friction
due to precision grinding of the inner surfaces of the blades.
The form of our handles and the eye of the scissors anatomically conform to the human hand, so that the scissors can be
guided safely and without causing fatigue, and that the force of
your hand is optimally transferred to the cutting edge.
Functionality and ergonomics are the result of highest
quality WORKMANSHIP. The surface of our scissors is smooth,
accurately ground and meticulously brushed or polished. The
friction is optimally adjusted; the inside of the eye of the
scissors is de-burred and smooth. The tips of the scissor blades
are perfectly aligned when closed. The scissors cuts along the
entire length of the material – from the tip to end – well, neatly
and without catching. Each pair of scissors is oiled and manually tested for cutting ease and performance before leaving the
premises.
While this may not be a matter of course at every
company, for our manufactory it is a matter of pride. You can
see and feel the quality of our scissors.

Bei Scheren, die zum Basteln und beim
Spiel benutzt werden, kommt es vor
allem auf Sicherheit an. Für die ersten
Schneidversuche ist unsere Kinderschere
ideal. Sie hat abgerundete Spitzen und
ihre auf die Form von Kinderhänden abgestimmten Kunststoffgriffe unterstützen
eine sichere Führung. Die Klingen dieser
Schere sind so geschliffen, dass sie zwar
ausgezeichnet Papier oder Bindfäden
schneidet, nicht aber in zarte Kinder
finger. Die Bastelschere ist geeignet
für größere Kinder mit gut entwickelter
Feinmotorik, sie hat spitz zulaufende
Klingen aus Edelstahl, die sauberes
Schneiden von Papier, Pappe, Garnen
und leichten Stoffen erlauben.

scissors. It has tapered, pointed stainless steel blades, which enable precision
cutting for paper, cardboard, thread
and lightweight fabrics.

haben für jede Aufgabe das passende
Instrument. Die klassische Papierschere
zum Beispiel besteht aus rostfreiem
Edelstahl, sie hat bruchfeste Kunststoffgriffe und es gibt sie auch in einer
Version für Linkshänder.

Von der Praxis des Hausarztes bis zum
Operationssaal: Die Anforderungen an
medizintechnische Scheren sind hoch.
Obwohl sie sehr scharf sind, dürfen sie
den Patienten nicht versehentlich ver
letzen, die Spitzen sind daher oft
rund, die Kanten besonders sorgfältig
entgratet. Vor allem aber müssen sie
absolut hygienisch sein; unsere Edelstahlscheren lassen sich problemlos
sterilisieren. Braucht ein Mediziner
Griffe, die besonders guten Halt bieten,
so dass er nicht abrutscht, dann wählen
wir dafür antibakteriellen Kunststoff.

to the operating room: extremely high
requirements are placed on medical
scissors. Although they are exceptionally sharp, they should not accidently
injure the patients, which is why they
frequently are produced with rounded
tips and with particularly carefully
de-burred edges. Above all, they must
be absolutely hygienic, and our stain
less steel scissors can be easily
sterilised. If a physician needs a pair
of scissors with handles, to prevent
the instrument from slipping, then we
select synthetic material that is antibacterial.

In der Pflege ihres Fells sind Haus- und
Zootiere auf die Unterstützung „ihrer“
Menschen angewiesen. Bei langem
oder gelocktem Fell sorgt regelmäßiges
Ausdünnen mit einer Effilierschere
für lockeren Fall. Unsere Fellscheren
verfügen über einen zweiflächigen
Spezialschliff; teilweise auch über eine
Mikroverzahnung, die verhindert, dass
die Haare beim Schneiden wegrutschen. Für Pfoten- und Gesichtshaare
bieten wir Scheren mit abgerundeten
Spitzen an. Robust und mit einem
zweiflächigen Facettenschliff versehen
ist die Mähnen- und Schweifschere.

on their owners to care for their coats.
Regular thinning gives long or curly fur
a soft bounce. Our fur shears have a
dual-surface special grind, some even
with micro-serration, which prevents
the hairs from slipping during cutting.
Our face and paw shear product line is
equipped with rounded tips. The mane
and tail shears are sturdy and have a
dual-surface facet grind.

SCISSOR CARE
We guarantee you scissors of superior quality and long-term
durability. When treated with due attention, this precision
instrument will accompany you throughout a lifetime. We re
commend that you use a pair of scissors for the purpose it was
designed for; this guarantees excellent cutting performance.
REINIGEN
Zwar würden unsere Scheren auch eine kleine Runde in der Spül
maschine überleben, wir empfehlen jedoch eine Dusche unter
fließend warmem Wasser mit ein wenig Spülmittel. Traktieren
Sie Ihre Schere bitte nicht mit dem Scheuerschwamm, er fügt
ihr unschöne Kratzer zu und kann die Schneidleistung mindern.
CLEANING
Although our scissors would survive a bout in the dishwasher,
we instead recommend rinsing under warm running water with
a bit of dishwashing liquid. Please don’t abuse your scissors
with an abrasive scrubbing sponge; it causes ugly scratches and
can diminish cutting performance.
AUFBEWAHREN
Aufbewahrt werden möchte Ihre Schere stets sauber und trocken.
Hin und wieder ein kleiner Tropfen mineralisches Pflegeöl in
den Schraubenschlitz und zwischen die Becken hält die Schere
leichtgängig. Das ideale Spezialöl erhalten Sie in unserem
Web-Shop.
STORAGE
Your scissors would prefer to be kept in a clean, dry place. The
scissors will retain its smooth handling properties if a small
drop of mineral oil is put on the screw slot every now and then.
You will find the ideal special oil in our web shop.
