Winkley Howler Co mmun icatin g the n ews and a cti viti es o f th e Win kley PTA A M e ss age from our P TA P resid ent... Welcome to Winkley Elementary! If you are new to Winkley, I would like to extend a special warm welcome to your family. I hope you will introduce yourself- I’d like to meet you! I trust that everyone had a restful and enjoyable summer and you are ready to begin a BRIGHT new school year. Your PTA Board has been working all summer planning and preparing to bring back many of your favorite Winkley traditions, but with some added FUN! Of course, stay tuned for some exciting new events as well! We are ready to get the year glowing! I hope you will plan to join us for the Glow in the Dark Welcome Back Dinner on Thursday, September 12th. Come and BE BRIGHT with your friends and teachers- you won’t want to miss it! I want to take this opportunity to personally ask YOU to JOIN PTA this year and join us in the mission to make every child’s potential a reality! We invite parents, teachers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, & community members to invest in the life of a child by joining Winkley PTA (or renew your membership). Last year, we had our largest membership to date. With your help, this year we are striving to increase our membership by 100, and ideally have all 800 Winkley students represented by a PTA Member. Do you know what your PTA dues support? Legislative Advocacy - Texas PTA will represent YOU for legislative issues such as limiting class sizes, cell phone free school zones, minimizing funding cuts in public education, bullying & cyber bullying policies, and MANY MORE. Your dues also support the many programs right here at Winkley. (See more PTA accomplishments on p.5). With so many fun events & programs planned, we need your help! If everyone does a little, together it equals A LOT! We are asking that you get involved in some way- just 2 or 3 times this year. We have many, many opportunities for you get involved. Whether you work outside of the home or not, whether you have a few hours or many hours to give this year, WE WANT YOU! Do you want to get more involved, and have FUN? Do you want to make a difference by investing in our children’s education? WE NEED YOU! I am so excited to partner with you for a bright & glowing year! We have so many amazing opportunities, fun events planned, and much to accomplish! You must renew your volunteer status each school year. Welcome Back! What makes Winkley work? You do! Our weekly jobs and special events would not be successful without the help of our fantastic volunteers. The number one reason why parents don’t get involved with their children’s school is because they are not asked! Please consider yourself asked! Whether you want a weekly commitment or just want to volunteer for an upcoming event; We’ve got a job for you. There are many opportunities to fit any schedule or interest. From 30 minutes to a couple hours a week or even take home tasks, contact me to see how you can help out. [email protected] Dads/Uncles/grandfathers: Feel like there is no spot for you to volunteer? Our WatchDOGs Programs could be just right for you. Visit winkley.my-pta.org and sign up to receive Winkley PTA emails which will update you on all upcoming volunteer needs and allow you to sign up for these events.
