Modern cooling systems now require very specialised coolants,
depending upon the make & model of your car.
There are 3 main types of coolant technology that vehicle
manufacturers are fitting at initial fill:£ Organic Additive Technology (OAT)
£ Silicate
£ Silicated Organic Additive Technology (Si-OAT)
They have all been developed to protect the different metals
found in the engine from corrosion and erosion. These metals
include:£ Aluminium
£ Cast iron
£ Brass
£ Copper
As well as protecting these metals, a high quality coolant needs
to safeguard the system from overheating in the summer and
freezing in the winter.
