A Christmas Gift
‘Two thousand years ago a baby boy was born.
A child whop cried and gurgled and sucked at his mother’s breast like every baby.
A miraculous new life:
A gift as old as humankind
And as new as the wonder of every new born child.
This child was an extraordinary gift
The gift of God- made flesh. God with us.
How simple, how awesome… outrageous really, that God’s intimate presence would
be made known to us through such ordinary human experiences:
Babies; childbirth, dusty stable, young parents with questions and anxieties.
Amidst all the ordinariness of what it means to be human-
There is a God
Unmistakably present
Alive, affirming our humanity
Demanding our attention and response
