Douglas Byrd High School's" Whitney Generette" "has been chosen to serve as a summer intern with CEED. Whitney" was the sole student from Cumberland County chosen from among 200 applicants" to the North Carolina Community Development Initiative program. She will be with us two months. Fayetteville’s "first Alternative Medicine Health Fair was held Tuesday, June 21, at the Headquarters Public Library. The event, named Think Outside the Pillbox, was sponsored by CEED, Complimentary Alternative Medicine and the Cumberland County Public Library. Fourteen vendors participated. Jessica Alarcon Farewell to Jessica Alarcon, who worked as a business consultant in the Business Center for more than a year. She is relocating to Tennessee to work for Planters Bank as a commercial credit analyst. We wish Jessica all the best in her banking career. Capital Access, speaks at the WBC Partners in Progress meeting June 12. N.C. Capital Access has enrolled 54 lenders with more than 1,100 branches across the state, putting access to loans within reach of businesses statewide. SUCCESS STORIES Regina Wesley, the owner of" A Place for Us, received help to prepare her business plan from lessons she learned at CEED workshops. Jaqueline (Jae) Haire is the owner of Just Desserts. She received business counseling as well as loan assistance through CEED. Diana Cannizzaro, who" owns Louie’s restaurant in Stedman, came to CEED for business plan assistance to open her second family restaurant. The Fayetteville Louise’s held its grand opening""in June. PARTNER OF THE MONTH We recognize the value of all our partners to help CEED improve. This month we would like to thank the North Carolina Community Development Initiative program. The program gives opportunities to interns - highly capable and motivated rising high school seniors to serve eight weeks helping nonprofit groups. The Initiative is also a funding and resource partner. VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH Betsy Stuart has been working on the front desk since January 2008. Since then, she has been giving us 4 hours of her time every week. CEED recognizes her great contribution and thanks her for her dedication, commitment and contribution to our organization. BOARD MEMBER OF THE MONTH Patty Griffin facilitated a staff building workshop with the goal to have better c o m mu n i c a t i o n , m o t i v a t i o n a n d cohesiveness within the organization.
