Foreword
Another wonderful chance to buy art works from some of South Australia’s best known artists. Many who
are established artists, and others emerging on their journeys into their art practices.
Selection Royale 3 is not just a Major Fundraiser for the Royal SA Society of Arts, but an opportunity for
RSASA Members to demonstrate their dedication, their willingness to assist the Society in major projects
for the future of art and artists in South Australia.
As artists many or most of us, speaking for myself have a store of art at home which we are willing to share
with others. Sometimes we share our works by creating swaps with other artists, or in this case artists
willing to share and donate to the RSASA, for them to go on show for the Ballot on Sunday 8th May 2016.
These artworks demonstrate a journey of each artist, a piece of their thinking, their ability, their techniques
in establishing their art practices. We thank them whole heartedly for their generosity.
As artists we have work sitting in our studios, and know they should be elsewhere, but the RSASA mostly
only permits works executed in the last two years to be submitted for exhibitions. Hence we have excellent
works laying around, and here are many of them, at the ready for a future home.
We are hoping for 100 works/100 tickets sold, or at least that is the aim, and many of these works will be
worth well over $100, bargains for the selector, and funds for the RSASA to further projects, especially with
the 160th in 2016, a history book being collated, Youthscape 2016 for young artists 15 – 26 years, RSASA
Portrait Prize in 2017, and the list goes on.
The RSASA is a not for profit organisation, where we survive on members subscriptions and the sale of
artworks. We value sponsorship in kind or monetary with open arms. We are here for the development of
art and artists. Many members have seen ways to donate to the Society, which is a tax refundable.
The RSASA is your art society and as a member, and we thank you all for your generosity in donating and
for purchasing a ticket for the Ballot, of $100 for the 8th May. May your selected ones on your list be there
when your number is called. Also don’t be disgruntled if your artwork is still hanging at the end. We have
known works to still sell, and it could be through size, not their cup of tea at the time. Never give up, strive
forward and continue creating.

The RSASA also welcome “Friends” Membership
During RSASA Members’ Exhibitions Practicing Members can be awarded (by the Selection Committee) Merit Awards, once 3
merit awards have been achieved they become an Associate Member, and are then eligible to submit artworks for consideration of
“Fellow”, granted by RSASA Fellows.
From the Director:
These artworks have been donated by RSASA Members specifically for “Selection Royale 3” in the aim of
raising funds for the Society, further assisting members and continuing to promote art and art practices.
We know that you will enjoy viewing this collection of artworks, and it is anticipated there will be much
deliberation taking place in collating a list of preference for the Ballot Draw on Sunday 8th May, from
1.00pm.
There are some very interesting works and may be more than one Ballot ticket should be purchased, but
you will need to get in quick. We aimed at 100 artworks and 100 tickets for purchase, but there will only be
enough tickets per artworks.
