Financial Strength

insurance company located
in Alexandria, VA that is
currently licensed in 49 states,
the District of Columbia,
Puerto Rico, the Virgin
Islands, Guam, American
Samoa, and the Northern
Mariana Islands. 5Star Life is a
member of the consolidated group
of 5Star Financial LLC that provides insurance, banking,
and investment services to members of the Armed Forces
Benefit Association, “AFBA”. 5Star Life offers group
life insurance programs to affinity groups, worksite and
employer insurance plans, final expense products and
other individual term life insurance products.
At December 31, 2010, the Company had 489
thousand policies and certificates, representing $38.3
billion insurance in force.
The Company’s total statutory admitted assets and
capital and surplus at December 31, 2010 were $202.9
million and $52.8 million respectively.
The company is currently rated A- (Excellent)*, stable
outlook by A.M. Best Company (reaffirmed 2/2011).
AFBA and its Related Enterprises
Armed Forces Benefit Association, known as AFBA,
was established in February 1947 as a non-profit
voluntary membership association with the support
of the Secretary of War, Robert Patterson, and
Chief of Staff, General of the Army Dwight D.
Eisenhower “to promote the general welfare and
economic interests of its members and their families
by providing low cost group life insurance and related
benefits and services principally to military families
during peace and war.”
AFBA is under the leadership of a Board of Directors
of retired senior flag and non-commissioned
officers and business leaders from private industry
who continue to honor the mission set forth by its
founders.
