Shawn and Natasha
How We Met
Shawn and Natasha were both stationed in South Korea in 2009. During
one of the penninsula wide training events, they were both tasked to work
at the Korea Battle Simulation Center. Shawn was in charge of the guards
while Natasha was an aid for a retired Army General. It was only a matter of
time before Shawn and Natasha met. That first week of training was the
first time they saw each other. Shawn was instantly attracted to Natasha
the first time he saw her. They started having lengthy conversations after
Natasha wore a UW- L sweatshirt after work and Shawn stopped her to let
her know he had went to the same college. Natasha would stop by to talk
with Shawn almost every night after work from that point on. They would
run into each other around post, where Shawn would give her workout tips
in the gym or would start a conversation in the recreation room of their
living quarters. At the end of the month long training event, Shawn and
Natasha went on their first date.

The Proposal
Shawn and Natasha both love to go backpacking. Shawn wanted to go on
one last trip before Natasha's final surgery which she was eager to do as
well. They drove up to Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky with their dog
Bandit. After getting everything situated, they started on their 6 mile hike.
At 1.1 miles, there was an opening in the woods that overlooked the lake.
Natasha naturally wanted to stop and take some pictures. After a few
minutes, Natasha was ready to continue their hike but Shawn insisted that
they sit down and take a break. While Shawn sat behind Natasha, she was
distracted trying to wipe some of the dog hair off of her. He secretly pulled
the box he hid out of his bag. Shawn then asked Natasha if she was happy
and she replied with a casual yes. At that point, Shawn surprised Natasha
as he put the box in front of her and opened it. She was so excited as he
put the ring on her finger. She then made him get up and onto one knee to
officially ask her to marry him.
