 Mt. Bethel Elementary PTA General Meeting Minutes March 31, 2016 6:30 p.m. – Mt. Bethel Elementary School Cafeteria The meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m. by Shawn Lieth Quorum was met. See attached attendance record. Presentation of the colors and Pledge of Allegiance The colors were presented by Girl Scouts Troop #13427 Minutes Emily Ratliff reported that the Minutes from the previous General Meeting on March 2, 2016 had been approved as distributed and therefore the reading of the Minutes was waived. Inspiration Heather Kindschy, Media Center Specialist • Read the book “It’s Okay to Make Mistakes” by Todd Parr. Principal’s Statement – Jessica Appleyard • Thank you to Mrs. Gardner for the music performance we will see tonight from our 2nd graders • Asked for everyone’s help and engagement with current legislation that affects public education and our school and welcomed John Palmer. Opportunity School District (OSD) Amendment – John Palmer, Teacher Liaison, GaPTA Executive Board • Mr. Palmer spoke about what Opportunity School District is and what the Amendment would mean to our school. The GaPTA is against the OSD Amendment. We will see this as a voting item in the November election. Please visit the GaPTA website for more information. Treasurer’s Report • Shawn Lieth presented the P & L and Treasurer’s Report as submitted with the minutes. Treasurer’s Report As of March 29, 2016: • Beginning cash balance $21,941.39 • Income $147,465.71 • Expenses ($136,944.32) • Ending Balance $32,462.78 Awards Presentation • Shawn Lieth presented the Phoebe Hearst Outstanding Educator award to Heather Kindschy for the 2016-­‐2017 school year. • Kathleen Corrao, Sarah-­‐Kate Bozza and Chana Wade presented the Jeanelle Brown award to Shawn Lieth for outstanding work bridging PTA and Foundation.
