Member Retention Week is an annual program to help our volunteer leadership highlight retention, with the opportunity to gain recognition and
awards for our Lodges and our Chapters. This Sunday-through-Saturday
time frame falls after all of the state/provincial conventions and before all of
the major holidays. It also marks the first week of the second half of our
fiscal year, so there is plenty of time left to achieve membership goals for
all of our units.
Moose members know that retention is an on-going process, however, we
are asking EVERY Lodge, Chapter, and Moose Legion to spend just a little
more time this week focusing on activities to renew your expired members
and reinforce your value with existing members.

your next meeting assign a captain for this event, who will co-ordinate your

Hello all!.
Our 82nd annual CNMA Convention is now history and a new Executive Board of Officers,
District Presidents, Secretaries and Committee men have been elected by our membership to
serve the finest Association in the Loyal Order of Moose.
I like to humbly thank you for electing me to be your President for the 2015/2016 year.
I know with All your help that we as an Association will meet all our goals and obligations.

Brothers and Co-Workers,
Wow! How fast this past year has gone by! But it has been a once in life opportunity for myself and my
lovely wife Sherry. Thank you all for making our experience so rewarding!
Our 82nd Annual Convention in Reno is in the books. And it was well attended while enlightening. There
were many new programs and subjects covered for those in attendance. Our Executive Board along with our
official visitor Byron Dalton and all of the Presenters did an awesome job! Thank You one and all! Please continue to support our newly elected Executive Board for the New Year. And please also continue to promote
Membership Production, Membership Retention and all of our Charitable Donations for both Mooseheart and
Moosehaven.
I’d be remised if I didn’t welcome our 2 newest Moose Lodges to the CA/NV Moose Assn! Sparks 2710
and Carson City 2709! It was an honor to be present for their institution! These new Moose Lodges have
brought a new excitement and promise for us all. And I hope it becomes contagious! Thank you brothers and
welcome.
Our future is bright and I know there are new challenges in front of us. But we are Moose and we get things
done. Won’t you help us get the work done this year, while we have fun doing some good thing for someone
each day?
I have one more favor to ask, as close out my last letter as your Proud Association President. Please keep the
Ebbetts Pass and Clearlake Oaks lodges, their families and the communities that they reside in your prayers.
The wildfires are currently threatening homes and lives.
God Bless Mooseheart and Moosehaven. And may God bless each and every one of you and your families,
along with those currently serving in our armed forces to help protect our freedom. Take care and thank you for
all you do for our Great Association and Fraternity.

Greetings All
In the months of October and November, new Opportunities for Membership and Retention, come
forth, in that we have Halloween and Thanksgiving. Working with children and parents provides exposure to the community, and with Thanks Giving, the possibilities of helping those in the Community that
need a little more help, as this is what we do. .
I would also like to take the opportunity in thanking our Official visitors Assistant General Governor Byron Dalton and Past Grand Regent Carolyn Allen for coming to our Annual Convention. Their talks were
well received and appreciated by all.
Congratulations are in order for the new Board of Officers. Our new President and Pilgrim Andrew Boardley will do a
great job for us. Brothers Ben and Joe moved up and make way for a new Treasure; join me in welcoming Richard Balthazar, out of the La Habra Moose Lodge 1858, to the CNMA Executive Board.
For those who could not attend on the August 29th installation of two new Moose Lodges, Carson City Moose Lodge
2709 and Sparks Moose Lodge 2710, a photo of all those in attendance is shown below. With permission, the new members were able to attend the Reno Convention and of course, answered the Roll Calls, We look forward to seeing more
of the two lodges.

For the scholarship drawing, we had 17 students submitted for the drawing. This year Congratulations goes out to Levi
Leveille, out of San Diego Ca., the proud winner of $1,000 dollars. Please remember, the more students submitted, the
drawings we can have.
At the Banquet, we had the Annual drawing and the Tehachapi Moose Lodge 1678 will walk away as the winner and
seller, Congratulations and thanks for participating.
In closing I would like to reach out one more time and thank Alice Mackay for all her work with the Hotel and meal reservations, As you are aware, this was her last year doing this and now welcome Rhonda Drake, as she is picking up the
job and her address will be on the registration forms for the Mid-Year in March 2016, Thank You both.
With Communication and support, we are reinforcing our Foundation, which leads to a Stronger Lodges, Chapters,
Councils, Moose Legions and our Moose Riders. Always remember that “Communication is the Key to Success for all our
Programs.
Speaking of Communication, I mentioned earlier about the importance of Retention. Send me what you are doing and if
it is posted in the next Goldminer, it could be worth $100 for your efforts.

Henry Weaver Sr. - Past Association President
Loyal Order of the Moose after returning home from our state convention I am renewed with excitement for
the Ca./Nv. Moose Association. Especially after opening our first two new Service Centers in this Association
in nine years. I went to convention with two cities names in hand with hopes of recruiting Family and Friends
to join in Lone Pine, Bishop area and Catalina Island as I have had a lot of interested people who believe in our
values and are wanting a Moose Center in there cities. I came home with five potential cities and I am willing to
answer questions and help start new lodges through out this fraternity. Anyone from the Lincoln California Area, Elko Nevada, or anywhere in California, Nevada that has family or friends that would be interested in helping children,seniors, our Veterans, and there community can contact me. I LOVE opening new lodges. My

Carson City Lodge#2709. Also I have been asked to help another Association but they are still Loyal Order of
Moose, Boise Idaho is in need of a lodge so if you have family or friends in that area I will be helping Stormin
Norman Dean organize some people up yonder.

Reminder to all Lodges: A Completed Lodge Safety Inspection report is due to Moose International by September 30, 2015. It is okay if you complete it now and send it in. Don't get
penalized by not turning in your report or having it late. Also winter is coming and hopefully
we will get some rain. Lots of slips and falls occur during the rainy season. Particularly hazardous areas are parking lots and entry ways that have wet leaves or snow. It's a good idea to
have daily walk-around your property to identify and remove hazards.

I'm so proud to be a member of this wonderful organization. Everyone works hard to
support Mooseheart and Moosehaven.
But why are we not keeping our members?
Ask yourself:
Are we doing all we can to get members back?
Are we welcoming them in to our moose home?
Do we explain why we exist?
Is orientation being done?
Is the social quarters clean and inviting?
Your Higher Degree members are there to help you get the answers. Call on them to assist you. The honors
they have received are because they love the Moose and want it to grow. So, Membership Retention chairmen,
please ask for our help. When we work together, there is nothing we can't do.
November 1-7th is Retention week. Get together with your Chapters and Lodges . Do something fun! Have a
dinner and play the DVD you have about why we exist . Some may not pay attention, but, if just one does, that's
a start.

I can’t believe this is my last article for the newsletter. This year has just flown by, and I
must admit I’m a little sad it’s over. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the co-workers
of California/Nevada for all their hard work. Without all your hard work and dedication we
would have nothing.
I hope everyone enjoyed the Annual Conference in Reno I know I did. I felt the meetings
went well and that a lot of useful information was shared. I think one of my favorite parts of conference is the
questions and answers and when we share our successes. I was also so happy that we were able to make a Tommy Moose donation to the local fire department and police department. In addition we made a donation of a
Cop in a box to the local sheriff department. All three organizations were very grateful for the donations.
I truly enjoyed our official visitor Past Grand Regent Carolyn Allen and her husband Louie, they were amazing. I had a great time getting to know her she is a “HOOT”. I hope you enjoyed her as much as I did. I also
enjoyed hearing from the Loyal Order of Moose’s official visitor Byron Dalton. I got a chance to speak to him
a little bit at the banquet and I really enjoyed the conversation. What I really loved about both official visitors
is that they were both so personably and very approachable. After all, they are co-workers and brothers just like
the rest of us and I’m so glad we were able to spend the weekend with them.
I want to thank the hostess chapter Yuba City they did an amazing job. The registration ran smoothly and
they were calm and cool always with a smile on their faces. I cannot thank them enough. Thank you to all the
Past Deputy Grand Regents for all their support this past year. Thank you for answering the phone when I
called and for answering all my questions. Thank you to the State Chairman, you all are amazing thank you so
much for all your hard work and all that you do to make California/Nevada look good. Thank you to Charlene
Mead and the conferral for a job well done. Convocation was beautiful and your decorations added to the beauty. Thank you to the California State Association for your support I enjoyed working with each of you. Thank
you Sunnyvale Lodge and Chapter for all your love and support even though I can’t get there as often as I’d like
I know you are always supporting me. Thank you to my Lodge and Chapter Hayward/Castro Valley you are
amazing. You have supported me all year long I am so grateful to each and every one of you. You are my family, I love you all. Last but not least, thank you to my mom (Florence), my kids (JT, Alexis and Jason), my
granddaughter (Bailey) and my honey Earl for sharing me with the Moose. Without your support I could not
have done any of this.
Before I end my thoughts and prayers go out to all our co-workers and brother who are facing these difficult
fires that are growing in our state. Please keep us updated as I know everyone will do anything they can to help
in this time of need.

As the fiscal year for the Association comes to an end, I’d like to thank all of you for your
support of the Moose Fraternity.
We had a good attendance at our 82nd Annual Convention in Reno. I’d like to commend all
of the committees for their outstanding work this past year. For those who set up displays in the
Membership Room - thank you, thank you, and thank you. They were GREAT! It’s very important that we get this information back to those members who couldn’t attend.
A special thank you to Alice Mackay for all of her years of service with the men’s registration and a thank
you to Rhonda Drake for taking over with Alice’s retirement. Joe Dillon and the Credentials Committee did an
excellent job – as usual, along with Merchandise Sales. We also want to recognize Bob Bakman and the Special Projects Committee for their hard work on the Mooseheart Renovation Project; the Councils of Higher Degrees for their sponsorship of the Youth Awareness Program; and the Moose Riders for funding the
California/Nevada Moose Association Youth Awareness Scholarships. Thanks to all of you!!!
Thanks to the Membership and Audit Committees who work hard at all of our Conferences and Conventions.
And thanks to the Equestrian Unit for their donation to the General Fund.
We have a new “Heart of the Community” Chairman, Rick Dandridge. For his first year, he did an outstanding job putting together a committee, who then pulled together many community service projects in Reno.
Thank you all!!!
There’s so much going on and so many people involved, it’s hard to list them all. But to all of you, you’re
truly appreciated and please keep doing what you’re doing. Our kids at Mooseheart and our senior members at
Moosehaven need you.
I have truly enjoyed working with all the committees this past year and am looking forward to working with
the District Presidents next year.

Moose Riders-Derrick Morris
CALIFORNIA/NEVADA MOOSE RIDERS
Our activity group celebrated our 1st birthday during the CA/NV Moose Association Convention
held in Reno on September 10th - 13th, we were formed September 6th, 2014. As of this writing we
have just under 400 members in our activity group.
The Purpose of the CA/NV Moose Riders are:
1. To raise funds for Mooseheart / Moosehaven / Moose Charities
2. To raise funds for CA/NV Association Moose Riders chosen Charities
3. TO HAVE FUN AND CAMARADERIE BETWEEN THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE
CALIFORNIA/NEVADA MOOSE ASSOCIATION
We have young members, elderly members, very new members (some joining the Moose to be a Moose Rider), very
seasoned members and everything in between. But one thing for sure, is we have VERY Active and VERY Caring Members. Those that have and ride motorcycles and those that do not. Our activity group has now donated $7225 in its first
Year out of our activity fees/fundraisers. This does not include the thousands and thousands of dollars from lodge level
Moose Rider Activity Groups throughout the Association.
During our annual meeting we approved our 2nd LIFE donation in the amount of $500 and donating $1000 to the
CA/NV Special Project for the second consecutive year. We also are supporting the Florida Bermuda Moose Riders by
being a “TOP SPONSOR” for their Fall Rally.
We approved our second CA/NV Moose Rider Initiative of providing a LODGE VISITATION RECONITION PROGRAM. Our activity Group will provide a Lodge Visitation Patch to CA/NV Moose Members that visit 25 lodges within
the CA/NV Moose Association. The patch is shown below. The outside ring is where the 4 rockers go. Rockers are
earned at 50, 75, 100 and Association levels. It is our hope to increase Moose Members visiting other Moose Lodges and
creating lasting friendships and visiting with other Moose Members to increase the loyalty and fellowship amongst
Moose Members. It will also bring visibility to the Moose Riders.
The officers appointed/elected at the annual meeting for our 2015-2016 year are: Chairman/President – Derrick Morris
– Monterey Lodge; Northern VP – Don Bray – South Sacramento Lodge; Central VP – Skeeter Martin – Atascadero
Lodge; Southern VP – Bill Martin – Mint Canyon Lodge; Secretary – Fran Sullivan – Monterey Chapter; Treasurer –
James Stone – Atascadero Lodge; Sgt-At-Arms – Ed Corliss – Monterey Lodge.
I am so PROUD of what this group has accomplished in just it’s first year with members from every corner of this association and most points between and look forward to increasing activities and membership within this activity group. If
you are not a member of this activity group, check out an event and see if this is something you may want to be a part of.
We just presented a COP-IN-A-BOX from the Moose Riders of Atascadero and Paso Robles to the Atascadero Police
Department.Their equipment was antiquated at best prior to this donation. They are actively working on tracking down
Child Porn rings and online predators in the Atascadero and Paso Robles communities as a part of the ICAC (Internet
Crimes Against Children) Task Force. Great job by the Atascadero and Paso Robles Moose Lodges (Men and Women).

CNMA MAJOR PROJECTS (PE OFFICE & WSS) COMMITTEE NEWS
We can add little to the update we sent out to all California/Nevada Fraternal Units in August
and will not put out another spreadsheet and total donation received until after Moose Charities
has had time to update their records of the checks received at the Annual Convention. As we stated then our
current total donation level as of 7-20-2015 was $102,552.78 and that we are continuing to solicit donations for
our current CNMA PE & WSS Major Project until notified otherwise in order to help cover a $1.3 million cost
overrun on the School Renovation total cost.
What do we know? We know that there will be another International Major Project. We do not know when
it will be announced or what part of the Project that the California/Nevada Moose Association will have or the
amount we will be expected to raise and donate. Based on empirical evidence gathered from those attending the
International Convention, reading of press releases and Moose Official Publications would certainly indicate
that a Major renovation and update of our Senior Campus at Moosehaven might be at or near the top of the list.
But this is only speculation based of observation and discussion. Whatever the Major Project is we need to be
ready to do our part.
So what are we going to do? As stated above we are going to continue asking for donations to the current
Project and prepare for our next Project.
So how are we going to get prepared? Our committee along with a lot of help from the outgoing and incoming District Presidents will continue sharing our belief that PARTICIPATION BUILDS UNITY. UNITY
BUILDS STRENGTH and THE STRONGEST ASSOCIATION IS #1. Thus, we will continue our quest for
donation, of some amount, from every Lodge, District and Council of Higher Degrees until we reach and maintain a 100% participation level. We will continue to invite the other two Fraternal Units within the
Nevada/California borders, The Moose Legion Jurisdictions and The Women of the Moose Chapters, to continue the past high levels of support they have provided, even after meeting the donation expectations set by their
International Leadership.
To all of the Fraternal Units within the California/Nevada Association boundaries we say THANK YOU. To
the others we can only once again ask you to make a donation and become part of a UNIFIED Association.

Cheryl Volden - Training Coordinator
The purpose of learning is growth, and our minds, unlike our bodies, can continue growing as we
continue to live. ~Mortimer Adler. If we wish to continue to grow in the Moose fraternity so we can
provide support to Mooseheart and Moosehaven into the future, we must continue to learn. Otherwise
we become complacent and are unable to move forward. We have to ensure a future for our kids at
Mooseheart and our seniors at Moosehaven. Training provides us with the tools we need to be successful.
A presentation on Moose Training in the 21st Century was provided at the September 11th LOOM meeting at the Annual Conference in Reno. This presentation has been placed on the California Nevada Moose Association (CNMA) website for those who were unable to attend the meeting. It can be found at www.ca-nvmoose.org, select LCL NET. Or
check the “What’s New” section, click on the link and review the latest updates on training.
A Regional Membership Seminar is being offered in the southern portion of California. This valuable workshop was
well attended at the Lodi, CA lodge last year. What a great opportunity for us to learn more about how to improve the
membership in our lodges and chapters. The seminar is being offered at the Ventura Moose Family Center on Saturday
November 7th. Visit the CNMA website, click Fraternal Education, and click on the link on the November calendar to
get all the exciting details on the seminar.
Classroom training will continue to be offered by the CNMA training staff. Three Administrator Schools were offered this year; multiple instances of the 2 Day Hands on Technical Training (2 HOTT); Lodge Leadership; TIPS; several Moose Legion Educational Conference sessions; one Moose Legion Secretary Education Conference and multiple
WOTM Training sessions. All scheduled training will be posted on the CNMA website under Fraternal Education.
Please check the website often to see what classroom training is being offered.
As provided in the last bi-monthly newsletter online training is available for those who wish to take the training by
computer. It can be found on the Moose International website at www.mooseintl.org, log into the Members Area, select
Moose Training, then Online Training. There are several instances of training that everyone is welcome to take to gain
additional knowledge regarding many Moose subjects.
Training (including classroom, one-on-one support, & tutorials) provides us with the tools we need to be successful in
all fraternal operations. Moose Trainers schedule and provide training opportunities to fraternal officers, brothers and
coworkers. We all need to make a commitment to take advantage of these opportunities. Inquiring minds want to know
what is preventing you from attending training. If we don’t take the required training, then we will not continue to grow
in our fraternal operations. Each of us took an obligation to support the purposes of our Order. Did you know that one
of the purposes of our order is “Educate and improve their members and the families of their members, socially, morally,
and intellectually?”

I would like to start out by thanking all those that came to my robing on the 13th. The
number of Pilgrims, Collegians, Fellows, Academy of Friendship and all members was outstanding. I could not ask for a better day or turn out. Thanks again.
We are back from a great convention and I am proud to say that I have been elected to the
position of Prelate for the California/Nevada Moose Association and I sure am proud.
My primary function is to give the blessing at all the functions and to be the coordinator
for all comities. If you are in need of help or need information or any kind of assistance, then I’m here for you.
The function of the comity chair people is to oversee all of your coordinators. To assure they are doing a
good job and reporting back to you. This should be done a minimum of monthly, and you need reports to me
quarterly. I need to make my reports every 6 months starting in February and August and I need to turn in reports for our conventions. You should contact me if there are and problems with this.
I am looking forward to a great year with all comity chair people and plan on staying in contact with
them a minimum of monthly or sooner if necessary.

It is important to really understand what the Heart of the Community program is all about. It is all about
“making our communities better places in which to live”. What better way to grow our Fraternal Organization
than allowing our communities to know just who we are. What we learned at the International Convention in
Nashville is now be duplicated in the CNMA Heart of the Community and then some. I was so impressed at
what our Moose International Heart of the Community did for the city of Nashville during the Moose International Convention. Men and Women of the Moose volunteered to go out into the communities of Nashville and
donated their time on many needed projects. Nashville was so grateful for the things we did for them. Whether
you stayed on ranch at Gaylord’s or, ventured out to exciting destinations, the residents of Nashville always
made the Moose feel “special”. It was very heartfelt.
Talking about helping our communities, how about our Moose Lodge in Clearlake Oaks with the Rocky
Fire? The Clearlake Oaks Moose Members were absolutely Heroes in the eyes of their community and to all
Moose Members! They opened their doors to over a 100 evacuees escaping the Rocky fire. The evacuees were
fed and housed until it was safe for them to return home. Thanks to social media, the generosity of the Clearlake Oaks Moose Lodge was broadcasted to all areas of the United States and Canada. I’m sure it reached a lot
of foreign countries also.
I was fortunate to be selected as the Heart of the Community Chairman in March 2015 prior to the MidYear Conference in Reno. Granted, I certainly had a lot of challenges at the Convention; but, now the challenges are not so large anymore. This is due to all the dedicated men and women of the Moose that have volunteered to join our dynamic team. We are growing strong in all programs of the CNMA Heart of the Community.
March was a learning curve for me. I felt that if the Heart of the Community was to be a viable program for the
California Nevada Moose Association, it had to grow; and, not just be complacent to get through until the next
convention. It would have to be active on an ongoing basis. Luckily for me, we are well into developing a proactive team that is doing just that.
During the recent CNMA Annual Convention in Reno, we had a very successful Blood Drive and a Salvation Army “Stuff the Bus” for the Reno community. Thank you “Chip Wilbur”, “Joe Henderson”, “Jim
Smith” and all the rest of all the wonderful volunteers who took shifts in manning the “Stuff the Bus” and the
“Blood Mobile”. Eleven cases of Tommy Moose were presented on stage to the Reno Fire Department and to
the Reno Police Department. Our Tommy Moose Mascot (Henry Weaver) played a fun and entertaining role
while the Tommy Moose were being presented. Thank you “Darcy Wilbur” for putting this all together. A
“Cop- In-A-Box” computer, key board, and printer were presented to Sargent Dennis Carry of the Washoe
County Sheriff’s Department. Sargent Carry is the Cybercrime Unit Supervisor for Washoe County and, he
gave us a small presentation on his affiliation with various programs dealing with catching and arresting child
predators. Immediately after his presentation, Sargent Carry preceded to go and arrest a sexual predator in his
jurisdiction. Our “Safe Surfin’” Coordinator Lloyd Fletcher and his wife Christy, demonstrated the Child Identification Program in the membership room. This program is so important to help parents of missing children.
Three kids are abducted every 2 minutes according to statistics provided by the Crimes Against Children Research Center. Jesse Orta, our new Veteran Affairs coordinator, talked with CNMA veterans and passed out
important new information on Veterans legislation and benefits in the membership room. Our new Special
Olympics Coordinator, Roddy Myers, displayed pictures of the recent Special Olympics events held in Yuba
City in which he was directly involved.
During the upcoming year, The Heart of the Community for the California Nevada Moose Association
will be looking for more volunteers to join our dynamic team in all regions of California and Nevada. We will
be reaching out into our communities to promote our values. If you have a burning desire to get involved in
helping your community while promoting our Great Moose Fraternity, please contact me.

help you 1) advertise our membership campaign, 2) start your own chapter membership campaign, 3)
hold an Orientation, 4) start a call group to save delinquent members, 5) invite them to be a guest

DID YOU KNOW?
Every year since 2003, the Membership Motivators have had some kind of campaign to help you personally and every
chapter have a successful year. We offer healthy money prizes. All you and your co-workers need to do to get into a
drawing for $500 or $400 or $300 or $200 or $100 or $100 or $100 or $100 or $100 or $100 or $100 is sponsor three
women into any unit of the order. You could be a big winner! This year the campaign is called, “Grow With Us”. We
hope you will decide to do just that.
DID YOU KNOW?
If you will take the time to print campaign posters, available on the ca-nvmoose.org website, you will use a great tool to
help increase your membership. The posters are colorful and eye-catching. Put them up in the ladies room where everyone has time and opportunity to read them. Ask your bulletin editor to put maybe a small version in the newsletter each
month. Ask your Senior Regent to talk about the campaign at meetings to remind the co-workers to sponsor members. It
really works and I believe every chapter can make it happen.
DID YOU KNOW?
All chapters should concentrate on retaining members. Personal contact by a simple phone call can be a member-saver. It
is not up to just one person to make those calls. Any officer and any chairman and any co-worker can volunteer to help
with calls. Ask questions so you know why they are late. If there is a problem, take it to the Board and help it go away.
Reach out to the Higher Degree Councils if you need more assistance.

In order to receive any degree, the chapter must earn the Award of Achievement. The very first requirement is a gain in
membership of one or more members. Please help your chapter increase membership. You are strong enough to make it
happen!

Greetings all and it’s that time again, Yes, the Youth Awareness Program under the “Heart of the Community”,
The Youth Awareness Program, is a Win- Win program.
It provides the opportunity for lodges and Chapters to sponsor students to a Youth Awareness Congress and gain
Community Service Awareness. The Students have an opportunity to participate and possibly win a scholarship ranging
from $2,000 to $12,000 dollars. However; none of this is possible without your continued support, and we thank you for
all for what you do.
Last year we finally had a winner in California Nevada North after many years, out of the South Lake Tahoe
Moose Lodge, The winner Carlie Valney has graduated and gone to College with YA on her resume.
With that said, can the North do it again? Check out Carlie's picture and the group picture below. Tjis is last years
winners in Florida.
What is Missing here? How about you in the picture? As the case last year, Student who complete 3 kids Talks,
will receive a $50 dollar visa Card, and if you win for Californai North, You get to go back East and compete for
scholarships ranging from $2,000 dollars to $12,000. But the trip is still Free and expenses are paid, a WIN-WIN
situation.
Times and locations have a tendency to change so always check with the sponsoring Lodges or call the local YA
coordinator.
Currently we have Youth Congresses scheduled for Sunnyvale Moose o Lodgen October 25th in the AM, and Richmond
550 on October 25th as well. Richmond is scheduled for 10:30 -1:30 PM.
We have a YA Congress scheduled at the Grass Valley Moose Lodge on November 8, 12noon, and still looking at having
a YA Congress in Vacaville, or possibly Anderson Moose Lodge, In the same time period. When all the dates are set, we
will have them on the CNMA Web Site.

At our annual conference in Reno, we heard a lot about needing membership retention. We recognize this, we’ve all seen it happen, but what can we do about it? Moose International has identified this problem, but we must come up with the solutions. They have
provided us with many tools to help attack the issue; membership expiration kits and orientation programs to name a few. We have a great state membership team, take advantage of
them. Please use all resources to accomplish this undertaking. Please let me know what your
chapter and lodge are doing to keep our members renewing their dues.
The men’s official visitor in Reno, Byron Dalton, asked us to remember the mentors who tool us under
their wing when we first joined our fraternity. I had several and certainly remember them all. Aren’t you
glad for the mentors that guided you and set you on your moose journey? Doesn’t it make you want to be a
mentor to someone new in your chapter or lodge? So please start the mentoring process with those new
members. That’s how we are going to “BUILD OUR FOUNDATION’.
Congratulations to all the Jr. Graduate Regents that became our new “green cappers” in Reno. You have
taken the first step on your journey to your college of regents’ degree. Please continue your service to our
fraternity and you will reap the rewards of your hard work. Wear your necklace proudly anywhere you go
during your term as Jr Graduate Regent.
Congratulations to the Lodge Grant Program recipients for 2015 from California: Modesto, Apple Valley,
Burbank, Tracy, Placerville and Red Bluff. Please let me know how the renovations are going.
According to the calendar the season is autumn. Our days getting shorter also confirms it is autumn. I
so enjoy making a big pot of stew or soup or chili to consume on the cool autumn nights. Now I just need
the cool weather of autumn so my big soup pot can come out of storage. I love the colors of autumn, too.
It’s one of my favorite seasons.
It’s a time of celebrations. Our first chapter meeting this month is “Christmas in October”. We donate to
ensure children at Mooseheart and seniors at Moosehaven have a wonderful Christmas. Please be generous
in giving that night. Next we have Halloween, this is probably the kids’ favorite holiday. It’s also a good
time for us to let our hair down, get dressed-up (in a costume), relax and enjoy being a kid again. November
brings Election Day (in some areas), Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving. I am thankful that I live in the USA
and have servicemen protecting our county. I am thankful for my family and friends. I am thankful that I
belong to an organization that will open their doors at the drop of a hat to help anyone in need. Thank you to
Clearlake Oaks Lodge and Chapter for everything that you are doing and have done for the fire victims of the
several fires that burned through their community. And to everyone who has sent supplies and money it
makes me so proud to know that we band together when someone is in need.
