Mentone Pony Club - D.C Report August
Hello Mentonians!
What a successful September rally! Held at the beautiful Tooradin Estate, it
was great to see everyone hard at work and trying something new, from
tackling new cross country jumps to learning how to lunge. We were very
lucky to have some high level eventers instructing and I hope everyone took
home a new skill.
With the weather warming up lately I hope all horses are being rugged
appropriately and washed down after a workout. Remember, they have been
heavily rugged for months and their skin needs to breath and would love some
sunshine! If you find the flies and other insects are starting to bother your
horses, adding about a table spoon of garlic flakes to their feed (can get from
most feed stores) will help keep them at bay.
I hope everyone is looking forward to being back at home for our October
rally. All riders should prepare to get back into theory as it is a vital part of
owning horses. And don't worry, it will be interesting!
Remember to love and care for your horse, no matter the situation,

FIRST AID
Expression of interest – We are looking for parents who have their LEVEL 2 first Aid
qualification that may be able to assist on rally days if required.
Please contact Chris Brown if you are able to help or are interested in obtaining your
Level 2.
Canteen report
Thank-you to Jo, Audrey and Helen for doing a super job at our
Tooradin Rally. This coming rally Clohesy, Daggett and Dentry
families are on duty. Please remember to bring a plate of food and
duty is from 9:00 am – 2:30 pm.

NOTES FROM THE SECRETARY
1. Summer Uniform (Mentone Polo top) is now required on Rally days.
2. Help Needed for Show jumping Day – We have our up and coming show jumping
day to be held on 25th October. We are looking for a couple of extra parents to give
Michelle a hand with organising/running the canteen for the competition. It would be
fantastic if a couple of mums could please help Michele as this is a huge job for one
person. Please contact Michele on 0418589030
3. Congratulations to Simon Rodgers! Simon has been selected to represent Victoria
in the National Mounted games competition to be held in Perth. Mentone Pony Club
is very proud of your achievements and wish Simon the Best of Luck competing at the
Nationals in October.
4. This is a reminder to all riders – If they have a fall on rally days it is a requirement
that they are checked over by our first aid officer before they re-mount their horse.
5. SETUP AND PACKUP- All families are required to assist with set up and pack up on
rally days – please don’t leave this to the same people each rally – Remember many
hands make light work.
