Seed products with the LibertyLink® (LL) trait are resistant
to the herbicide glufosinate ammonium, an alternative to
glyphosate in corn, and combine high-yielding genetics with
the powerful, non-selective, postemergence weed control of
Liberty® herbicide for optimum yield and excellent weed
control. LibertyLink®, Ignite® and the Water Droplet logo
are registered trademarks of Bayer.
SOYBEAN TREATMENT
CruiserMaxx® seed treatment is an environmentally safe insecticide, which provides instant, early-season, broad-spectrum pest
control, enhancing plant vigor and crop yield potential.
CruiserMaxx® is a neonicotinoid seed treatment insecticide. As
the plant grows, CruiserMaxx® is absorbed and distributed within the plant. The early-season pests, which suck and chew on the
crop during its most vulnerable and tasty phase during the first 30
to 40 days of growth are intoxicated when they feed on treated
soybeans. CruiserMaxx® also controls pests in the immediate
root zone.
Crop growth potential is enabled by early season vigor. There is
a visible increase in bloom and fruit development. The active
ingredient performs well under a wide range of weather conditions. Benefits to the crop include greater density, height, root
length, stem diameter, number of leaves per plant and higher
yield. Most of these benefits are generated by protecting the crop
for the first 30 to 40 days during stand establishment.
CruiserMaxx® has minimal impact on non-target organisms
because it is present only on the seed surface and inside the
plant. It is very safe for users and the environment.
CruiserMaxx® boosts plant development by inducing biosynthesis of specific proteins that defend plants against stress. Plants
need less energy to protect themselves and invest more in
healthy growth.

Technology value is driven by cost and return. Carefully consider production needs as you make technology decisions. Crop rotation, past history, and end use are
important considerations. Options for insect control should consider planter box, seed applied, and in-furrow options. Consult a SEEDWAY representative if needed.

1=BEST or TALLEST or HARDEST TEXTURE. 9= INADEQUATE or SHORTEST or SOFTEST TEXTURE ( 4=midscale = AVERAGE WITHIN A MATURITY BAND )
Relative Maturity: SEEDWAY rates hybrids in “days relative maturity” since it is most universally accepted in the region. This system compares hybrids accurately within the Seedway
product lineup. It should not be expected to compare directly to calendar days since corn varies growth according to environmental influences and management which are independent
of the calendar. The NY column rates relative maturity for NY, New England and high elevation areas of PA in days. CCB (central corn belt latitude) column rates approximate maturity
for OH,PA, MD, DE and VA in days. Consult a SEEDWAY representative for additional information, or call the SEEDWAY corn product manager at 800-836-3710.
EF = effective fiber, ENF = enhanced fiber when compared to average set of similar products including competitor checks

Making Silage Hybrid Improvements

INFORMATIVE SILAGE RESEARCH TIMELINES
BASELINE 1983
Dairy and livestock industry widely assumes:
“ Good grain hybrids are good silage hybrids. ”
1983 - LANDMARK STUDY
Vatticonda & Hunter - Can. J. Of Plant Science:
Compare grain yield and whole plant silage of
recommended grain hybrids, finding a weak
relationship. Much additional corn silage research
ensuues on environmental, and eventually genetic
influences, on silage quality. A new silage era begins.
1992 - HYBRID GENETICS / SILAGE QUALITY
Hunt, Kezar, Vinande - Journal Of Prod. AG.
Study yield, chemical composition, ruminal
fermentability of ear and stover - early effects of
hybrid / genetic influence investigated. Show
genetics contribute to corn silage quality.
1993 - CORN SILAGE FIBER QUALITY
Wolf, Coors, Albrecht, Undersander, Carter -Crop
Science - Comprehensive literature review followed
by their findings on environmental and genetic
relationships to quality. Conclude:
1 - “ stover digestibility is well correlated with whole
plant digestibility ” [ reaffirming multiple works by Deinum, Struik,
Bakker, Vatticonda, Hunter, Dolstra, Medema, et al ]
2 - “ increasing grain yield may not lead to increased
whole plant nutritional quality ”
◄
►3 - improvements in whole-plant nutritional quality may be achieved by improving stover digestibility
without sacrificing grain yield ”
Grain percentage of a silage sample by itself is
insufficient as an indicator of whole plant energy
potential available for milk production.
Because focus on grain percentage ignores:
1- digestibility and utilization of fiber
2- digestibility and utilization of grain
3- digestion kinetics that influence rate of passage and utilization of all nutrients
Our focus in selecting and developing elite silage products involves choosing
genetics with proven track records for high whole plant yield potential and
digestible fiber, while maintaining grain yield. Grain yield and stover digestibility are independent so it is possible to combine high whole plant yield,
digestible fiber, and high grain yield ! The SEEDWAY Leafy series is a good
example.
On the contrary, focusing solely on grain percentage leads down the path of
reduced whole plant yield and hidden fiber digestibility shortcomings because
modern grain hybrids are selected for shorter plants, rigid stalks, and grain
yield. It is the easiest path to high grain content silage. But, at what cost to
yield, cow performance, and farm profitability ?
Elite SEEDWAY silage specific products can make milk at lower cost for
Northeast growers, all else equal. Especially where acres are limited. In many
cases they make more milk per cow, depending on ration formulation and
management. Look for these indicators of total silage energy potential.
EF
Effective Fiber Hybrids
ENF Enhanced Fiber Hybrids
Our rating system identifies forage quality of seed products by
dual testing with NIR (lab) + “in situ” (in rumen) technology.
Critical notes: standard nutrient content testing by lab. wet chemistry or NIR, while necessary for
ration formulation, predicts energy content, though it does not measure energy directly.
Prediction technology is improving. However it is not yet totally reliable in predicting future feeding value to a cow. This technology limitation makes it necessary to “tweak” cow rations on an
on-going basis. Thus, lab. ( NIR ) plus cow ( in situ ) dual testing is a more complete characterization of silage sample differences because nutrient content and digestibility characteristics are
combined. This is generally too costly for routine use. It often reveals hidden fiber digestibility
strengths and weaknesses. Lower digestibility is common in modern grain hybrids and costly to
detect. It is even more costly to supplement purchased nutrients to substitute for poor digestibility fiber in the ration. We recommend taking the guess factor out of silage production. Grow recommended silage specifics for those high value silage acres.

SucraSEEDTM ULTRA SWEET
HSG Ryegrass Blend
High-sugar grass (HSG) mixture for silage and haylage.
High levels of sugar provide bacteria with greater energy
source which translates to faster and better conversion of
freshly harvested plant material to highly digestible silage or
haylage. The grasses’ high sugar reserves make lush, thick
stands that withstand hot, dry summers and cold winters.
More sugar provides the grasses extra energy for quick regrowth after cutting and the aggressiveness to crowd-out
weeds. HSGs are proven to increase livestock yields.
SWEET N-R-Gee
Exceptional palatability and digestibility. Excellent vigor and
drought tolerance. Superior regrowth. Use for silage, hay and
grazing.
FSG 214 BMR 6
Hybrid Sorghum - Sudangrass
This hybrid produces a high tillering high quality forage that
has excellent early vigor. The high leaf to stem ratio means that
you can count on high protein. The digestibility of this hybrid
has been increased by 20% due to the BMR 6 trait. The dry stalk
gene allows a more timely harvest and helps to get the crop
baled and out of the field before it gets rained on while drying.
Typically this hybrid is used in a rotational grazing or 1-3 cutting system allowing you to produce the maximum amount of
forage.
PRO-MAX BMR
BMR Low-Lignin Hybrid Sudangrass
True sudangrass with bmr trait. The next level in high quality
summer forage for direct pasture or hay production. Reduced
lignin content, improved digestibility, greater animal preference
and improved animal performance.
SWEET SIX BMR 6
Hybrid Sorghum - Sudangrass
This hybrid produces a high tillering high quality forage that
has excellent early vigor. The high leaf to stem ratio means that
you can count on high protein. The digestibility of this hybrid
has been increased by 20% due to the BMR 6 trait. With the dry
stalk gene it allows a more timely harvest and helps to get the
crop baled and out of the field before it gets rained on while
drying. Typically used for rotational grazing or 1-3 cutting system allowing you to produce the maximum amount of forage.
GREENGRAZER V
Hybrid Sorghum - Sudangrass
Alfalfa Ryegrass Mixture
Developed by Cornell University, N-R-Gee alfalfa was bred
from high quality, high dry matter digestibility and yield
potential. Ability to regenerate branch roots following damage of stress for disease, insects, weather and wheel traffic.
Good disease package. SucraSEEDTM Ultra Sweet ryegrass is
a High-sugar grass (HSG) mixture for silage and haylage.
Combined, these two high-end products have the potential
to produce top yields and high forage quality. Seed at 24
lbs/acre.

N-R-Gee Alflalfa
SucraSEEDTM Ultra Sweet Ryegrass
Small seeded. Thin palatable stems. Very fast regrowth. Higher
populations grow finer stemmed forage which dry faster.
BDL 234
Leafy BMR Sorghum - Sudangrass
High yield potential brown midrib sorghum x sudangrass
brachytic dwarf for maximum leaf area and standability. High
leaf-to-stem ration. Shortened internodes enable closer cutting
and grazing. Seed 10-30 lbs. per acre.
Early planting is NOT an option with sorghum and sorghum x sudan
products. They must be planted in warm soils. May 20 is the absolute
earliest after soils are warm. Also observe sorghum / sudan feed warnings to prevent Prussic Acid Poisoning.
(1) Avoid large nitrogen applications prior to expected drought periods.
(2) 2, 4-D increases Prussic Acids for several weeks after application.
(3) Do not harvest drought damaged plants within 4 days of good rain.
(4) Allow at least 7 days killing frost before chopping.
(5) Cut at higher stubble height, nitrates accumulate in the lower stalks.
(6) Wait 6 weeks after ensiling to allow Prussic Acid to dissipate.

SG Brand SOYBEANS
SOYBEAN TRAITS
CruiserMaxx® seed treatment is an environmentally safe insecticide,
which provides instant, early-season, broad-spectrum pest control,
enhancing plant vigor and crop yield potential. CruiserMaxx® is a neonicotinoid seed treatment insecticide. As the plant grows, CruiserMaxx® is
absorbed and distributed within the plant. The early-season pests, which
suck and chew on the crop during its most vulnerable and tasty phase during the first 30 to 40 days of growth are intoxicated when they feed on
treated soybeans. CruiserMaxx® also controls pests in the immediate root
zone.
Crop growth potential is enabled by early season vigor. There is a visible
increase in bloom and fruit development. The active ingredient performs
well under a wide range of weather conditions. Benefits to the crop include
greater density, height, root length, stem diameter, number of leaves per
plant and higher yield. Most of these benefits are generated by protecting
the crop for the first 30 to 40 days during stand establishment.
CruiserMaxx® has minimal impact on non-target organisms because it is
present only on the seed surface and inside the plant. It is very safe for
users and the environment.
CONVENIENCE i New seed offers high quality and
high yield potential versus bin-run i New seed ensures a
reliable seed supply in many maturities.
ECONOMICS i New seed yields 1.8 bushel per acre
more than bin-run i Bin-run planting rates are generally
15% higher than new seed.
LIMITED WARRANTY BENEFITS i Dealer agronomic support before and after the sale i Risk management
benefits of Roundup Rewards® (over $600 million paid to
growers since 1997). New Innovations i Royalties
provide for research and development of new traits and
higher-yielding germplasm i SEEDWAY and Monsanto
are committed to our customers’ success.
SEED STEWARDSHIP POLICY Seed containing the
Roundup Ready® trait or Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield®
trait are protected under numerous United States patents,
including Patent No. RE39,247. It is unlawful to save
Roundup Ready® or Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield®
soybeans for planting or transfer to others for use as a
planting seed.
CruiserMaxx® boosts plant development by inducing biosynthesis of specific proteins that defend plants against stress. Plants need less energy to
protect themselves and invest more in healthy growth.
140,000 SOYBEANS PER UNIT
CUT COSTS Order exactly the seed you need i SIMPLIFY Remove the guesswork of seed size and count per pound
SAVE TIME Cut time spent calculating each seed lot and adjusting the planter i PRECISION Plant accurately to uniformly prepared seedbed and eliminate excessive seeding i 140,000 SEEDS/UNIT - 1 UNIT/ACRE Adjust planting rate based on conditions, Penn State University recommends 140150,000 seeds/acre for best stands and yield potential, most varieties available with pre-inoculation for convenience.
