Open registration begins Saturday, September 19 for all others. Registration is required for all programs. Programs begin Monday, September 28 and continue through the week ending October 31. (By registering for our programs, you are giving consent for your child’s photos to be used on our website, social media sites, and/or within the library.) www.alsiplibrary.info Follow us on social media Preschool Pals Independent 3-5 year olds, not in Kindergarten Tuesdays from 10-10:30 am Birth-23 months with caregiver Wednesdays from 10-10:30 am Preschoolers can jump into the fall season and enhance their pre-reading and social skills as we enjoy stories, music, and simple crafts. 2-4 years old with caregiver Wednesdays from 2-2:30 pm Books, songs, fingerplays, and activities are centered on letters of the alphabet. Get ready to sing, clap, bounce, and listen to nursery rhymes and simple stories with your baby. 2-5 years old with caregiver Thursdays from 10-10:30 am Toddlers will explore activities that engage the senses and help them understand the world around them. Best for under 5 years old with caregiver Fridays from 10-10:30 am Songs, games, and musical adventures for caregivers and little ones. Drop-in, limited to the first 24 children with their caregivers. (No registration required.) Wednesdays from 6:30-7 pm Birth-6 years old with caregiver Please join us for a fun and relaxing evening program for the whole family. We are a welcoming group who enjoy stories, art projects, toys, sensory activities, and more. You are welcome to drop in when you can. Urban Mini-Farm Patrons are loving our urban mini-farm. We will have the chickens on exhibit until October 6, 2015. If you would like to learn more about our Urban Mini-Farm, you can meet us any day that we are open at 9:30 am or 2:30 pm, out front at the chicken coop. Patrons of all ages will be able to help feed, water, and gather the eggs from the chickens, add to our compost or water our vegetables and herbs. We look forward to sharing the fun with you! Starting Saturday, September 12 be one of the first 15 people to pick up a scarecrow frame and enter our scarecrow contest! If you don’t get one of our frames, you can create your own, any size and shape! All entries are due by October 1. Winner will receive a gift card from Michaels. Winners will be displayed outside by the seating area. Open to residents only. Grades K-5 Tuesdays from 4-4:30 pm Grades K-5 Wednesdays from 4-4:30 pm Join this unique club and help us maintain our new garden planters, make bird feeders and discover what it takes to sustain our environment. Get ready to go green! Fall is a great time to get crafty! Join us to create fun pieces of art featuring favorite fall Grades K-5 Thursdays from 4-4:30 pm Travel the world without even leaving the library. Each week we will jet off to a new destination and learn about their culture while making a craft, and listening to stories. Grades 1 and up Saturdays from 10-11 am Grades 4-8 Thursdays from 6:30-7:15 pm October 8, 15, 22, and 29 Come explore the world of littleBits Electronics, discover, build, create, have Grades K and up Fridays from 4-4:30 pm Learn new moves and test your skills! Our instructor will teach a new move each week to develop your competitive edge. Chess teaches concentration, focus, logic, & outcome, while promoting the STEM initiative. For beginners as well as those with some experience. October 2.,9 & 16 only Win great prizes as we play BINGO! Grades 2 and up Saturdays from 11:15-12:15 pm (October 3, 17, and 31 only) Grades 2-5 Do you love Minecraft? Want to meet others who love it just as much as you? Join us at this club where we use the Minecraft server to create a safe and controlled environment for Minecraft enthusiasts. Because library equipment will be provided, a Minecraft User ID is needed from you. Saturdays from 2:30-3:30 pm (October 3, 17, & 31 only) Hang out and transform a Twinkie of your very own into a one-in-a-minion Minion and enjoy more Minion inspired activities. Teen Advisory Group 6th-8th grade September 3 at 7 pm October 1 at 7 pm Do you want to show off your leadership skills? Can’t get enough volunteering? Or are you simply looking for a way to be more involved with other teens at the library? There’s always something new and exciting being planned and you can be a part of that. Join us and share your opinions about what you’d like to see and do at the library. Grades 2 and up Saturday, October 24 at 3 pm Let’s paint something spooky! Get into the Halloween spirit by creating the scariest Halloween tree you can think of using acrylic paints. Each artist leaves with a painting to hang up just in time for trick or treat. October Date to be Announced Grades K-5 6-8 pm Albert Einstein said, “Science is exploring and exploring is fun.” The Super Science @ Your Library special program is for students in Grades K-5. The program will provide the students with hand-on experiments that will demonstrate the importance of science in their lives and encourage them to think critically and creatively.
