Pre-Engineering introduces college-bound students to the field of engineering
in a highly-interactive, hands-on learning environment. All classes use state-of-the-art
industry software and hardware.
Why take Pre-Engineering in high school?

Am I eligible for Pre-Engineering?
Incoming high school freshmen must have completed Algebra I with an A or B and be accepted
through the MNTC Pre-Engineering application process.
When can I enroll?
You must apply for Pre-Engineering online at mntc.edu/eng-apply. The online
application will go live at 7:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015. You or your parent/guardian
can complete the online application by using the URL above or by scanning the QR code
to the right. If you need to use the Internet at school, please see your school counselor
and they will help you get your application submitted. Be sure to submit your application
as soon as possible, because space is limited in this class.

Getting started
Prerequisite: Freshmen must have completed Algebra I
with an A or B and be accepted through the MNTC
application process. Students who begin as freshmen may
complete up to seven engineering courses in this four-year
program.
Freshman (Level I)
What: Introduction to
Engineering Design (IED)
Where: Your high school
campus
Info: Learn design and
manufacturing processes,
career exploration, and
computer aided drafting
and design (CADD). Earn
one (1) computer science
credit.
Sophomore (Level II)
What: Principles of
Engineering (POE)
Where: Your high school
campus
Info: In this applied physics
class, learn about kinematics,
Newton’s Laws, torque,
statics, materials, strength
and properties, and discover
how to incorporate them
into the design process.
Also includes system control
programming, and more
career exploration. Earn one
(1) computer science credit.

Start as a sophomore or
junior instead!
Sophomore and junior courses are
taken in the morning or afternoon on
the Moore Norman Technology Center
Franklin Road Campus in Norman.
Students who begin during their
sophomore or junior year may complete
up to five engineering courses in this
two-year program.
Prerequisite: Sophomores and juniors
must be concurrently enrolled or have
completed Algebra II and be accepted
through the MNTC application process.
