If I start putting one game being more important than the other I’ve sold my team short.” Thus, by default, the season-opener between the Syracuse University football team and Minnesota at noon Saturday (ESPN2) in the Carrier Dome is the most important game in Marrone’s career. Not because it is his first as a head coach. Not because it is at his alma mater. Not because his beloved Orange stands at a critical crossroads in its mostly proud history and it is Marrone’s job to steer it safely back onto the right path. Simply because it is the next game.
