(Fi^.l) IPS mount -•I# 4mm (Fig.l) (Fig-2) 2 Insert tke IPS mount to tke indoor power system (IPS). Make sure tkat tke koom is pusked into tke IPS ky 22 mm. if it is too kard to insert tke mount, trim tke mount sli^ktly witk a knife or sand paper. (Fi^.2) Temporarily pull tke IPS out for easier assemkly procedure of tke fuselage. (FiS.3) 3 Drill a small kole for tke pusk rod (kotk ri^kt and left fuselages ).(Fi^.3) (Fi^.4) 4 Trim tke control korn of tke Frame A round skape as skown tkat will ke tke tail skid.(Fi^.4-(l)@(3)) 5 if you are ^oin^ to use 2 ckannel transmitter ,it is required to use GWS (Fi^.5) Auto Cut-off Unit AC-50E (or AC- lOOE). To install tke unit , cut tke fuselage out alon^ tke kollow lines as skown. (Fi^.5-(1)(2)(3) ) G Apply enou^k ^lue to grooves for tke mount and tke tail skid as well as all surface to ke joined. Tken, place tke mount and tke tail skid in tke place and join tke left and rigkt fuselages firmly. Put paper tapes, 3-5 places as skown, around tke fuselage until glue cures completely tkat will, at least, take a kalf an (Fig.6) kour. Make sure tkat tke IPS mount is located along tke guide line for tkrust angle.(Fig. 6) Install tke 4 cowling mounts (8x8mm)and tke 2 strut mounts(10x30mm) using GWS glue as skown. Make sure tkat tke tapes skould ke applied to flat surfaces , not groove side . (Fig. 15,Fig.l6 ) (Fig. 16) 2 Carefully kend tke elevator (40 degrees up (Fig. 17) and down eack side) and tke rudder (40 degrees rigkt an i left eack side) ky kands several times until tkey move comfortakly. (Fig.l7,Fig.l8) 3 Make sure tkat elevator and rudder are (Fig. 18) moving smootkly witkout any stress. a PAINTING (For painted version ,disregard this section) 1 Ckoose an emulsion paint suitable {or polystyrene (i.e. TAMIYA-PS spray paint etc.) 2 Before painting, wipe all surfaces of tbe fuselage, wings, stabilizer and fin witb medical alcobol and remove any oil, dust, dirt etc. 3 Spray a paint as ligbtly as possible in order to beep flying weight lighter and paint wing and stabilizer on tke upper surfaces only. Each additional painting will increase its 4-, weigbt by about 15-25 grams that will affect flight performance and characteristic. \ r (Fig-20) \ (Fig.l9,Fig.20) 4 It is very important to beep adequate distance between tbe spray nozzle and tbe object ( 20 30cm ), otherwise styro-foam (fuselage) may get damaged. HORIZONTAL STABILIZER AND VERTICAL FIN (Fig.21) 1 Use a triangle to determine tbe center of tbe horizontal stabilizer (upper side) as shown. Using a knife or a file ,make tbe stabilizer mounting surface flat , then apply GWS glue to tbe mounting surface and put tbe stabilizer to tbe place. Make sure that tbe stabilizer is glued to tbe fuselage securely and horizontally. Until tbe glue cures , put a few pins to secure as shown. (Fig. 21,Fig. 22 ,Fig. 23) {Fitf.22) 1..^ (FiS.23) (Fig.24) 2 After tke stakilizer is securely ^lueJ, apply tke ^lue to tke vertical fin ( ^ray coloreJ. area ) and install tke fin to tke fuselage. Make sure tkat tke fin is glued to tke fuselage firmly and vertically. Also, make sure tke fin is perpendicular to tke stakilizer as skown. (Fig.25) (Fig.24 ,Fig.25) MAIN WING MOUNTING For mounting tke main wing on tke fuselage, insert two kamkoo sticks (3 x 85mm) to tke koles on tke side wall of tke fuselage and apply glue to secure. (Fig. 26,Fig.27,Fig.28 ) (Fig.26) (Fig.27) (Fig.28) INDOOR POWER SYSTEM (Fig.29) (IPS) , COWLING, PROPELLER AND SPINNER . (Fig.30) 1 Holding tke IPS mount (wooden part), insert tke mount to tke Indoor Power System (IPS). Make sure tkat tke mount is pusked into tke IPS ky 22mm. Do not skorten tke antenna or coil it as tke ran^e will ke reduced. You may ke akle to cut tke antenna a kalf (no otker len ^tk) on tke GWS PICO 4-ck receiver only at your own risk. ( FIG.38 ) 3 Insert tke control korns into tke slots on tke stakilizer and find and fix tkem witk tke retainer. ( Fig.40/A-10 ) 4 Bent tke one end of tke pusk rod (Z skape) and make a V skape kend(5 —7mm) in tke pusk rod as skown, tken kook tke pusk rods into tke control korns temporarily. It may 30-60 minutes for a complete cure. (Fi^.41-(i)(2)(D®) 3 We would recommend to ^lue tke center struts to tke underneatk of the upper win^s first and ^lue tke side struts on tke upper surface of tke lower win^s. After a complete cure of tke ^1ue, tke upper and lower win^s can ke assemkled to^etker witk GWS ^lue. It is essential tkat you need to wait for a complete cure of tke ^lue kefore proceeding any furtker steps. (Fi^.41 -(^® ) (Fi^.42) FINAL ASSEMBLY After a complete cure of tlie ^lue, you can put two wing togetker ky gluing tke siie wing struts as skown. Before installation of tke wings to tke fuselage, make sure tkat all struts are securely glued to tke designated positions of tke wings. (Fig.42-(i)) Slide tke fuselage tk rou gk tk e wings carefully and use 2-4 rukker kands and kook tkem crossed as skown. (Fig.42-(2)(1)) Drill two 1.2 mm dia. Holes on strut, and fix tke strut witk 1.4 x 9mm screws. (Fig.42-(4)) Once again, ckeck all struts if tkey are well glued and examine an entire kalancing of tke wings. (Fig.42-®@) 5 Take tke paper tapes off used for reinforcement and temporary fixing of tke struts. (Fig.42- (6) ) G Attack all decals as per pictures on tke front cover of tke instruction manual and display Decal (TIGER MOTH 0O®:o [7031 17031 ® © r 7031 © AUTO CUT-OFF UNIT If you are usin^ 2-cli radio (transmitter), it (Fig.47) is necessary to use GWS Auto Cut-off Unit tkat will cut off tke power supply to tke motor wken a voltage of tke kattery pack ^oes down to certain point, yet it will reserve enou^k power for tke reseiver and \ servos. O^FF START Apply GWS ^1ue on tke Lack side of tke GWS /iu/o-cttf name plate (GWS AUTO-CUT) and stick on tke side-wall of tke fuselage. •' Temporarily put paper tapes on tke Auto Cut-off Unit until tke 2.TO RECEIVER 1.TO MOTOR completely. (Fi^.47- ue cures ) For connection and wiring of tke Auto ON OFF Cut-off Unit, please refer to tke drawing START oeao • GW8 Auio-cU^ on tke left. (Fi^.48) 3.TO BATTERY PACK (W/BEC 6.0-7.2V;W/O BEC 4.8-6.0V) (Fi^.48) BATTERY PACK (Fig.49) For you convenience, we su^^est to put tape as skown to remove a kattery pack from tkekolder easily. (Fig.49) Caution (**2): Do not use any larger size kattery pack tkan we recommend (6.07.2/110-150mAk) for tkis model due to some proklems, space for a kattery pack and location of tke C.G. Point. TIPS AND HINTS PREFLIGHT CHECKS It is always recommended, tkat you ckar^e your transmitter and receiver katteries as well as tke kattery pack for tke motor kefore attempting to fly your airplane. (Fig.50) Tke Center of Gravity (C.G./kalancin^ point) is located 35-~45mm kack from tke leading edge of tke lower wing. After all radio gear and tke kattery pack is installed, ckeck tke C.G. point of your airplane. If tke kal ancing point is offset, move tke receiver and speed controller forward or vice versa until you find tke recommended kalancing point. (Fig.50) WARP ATAPE FOR EASY MOVEING. Ckeck tke radio gear and tke linkage tkorou ^kly on tke ground and make sure tkat all tke control surfaces are working properly and correctly kefore attempting to take off your airplane. We recommend tkat you skould ckeck tke range of your radio kefore tke first fligkt of tke day. FLIGHT Always turn on tke receiver last after turning on tke transmitter, and skut off tke receiver first kefore turning off tke transmitter. You can take off your airplane from tke smootk surface ground, normally 1-3 meters for run and take off. If you are kand-launcking your model, move tke tkrottle stick up fully and see if tke motor is running at tke maximum rpm. Tken, tkrow your model to tke air korizontally as skown and apply up elevator as model climks at a skallow angle, if you launck your airplane at a steep angle, upward or downward, it may result in a crask of your model. ® If you are only Leginner for tke radio control model flying, do not attempt to fly your model witkout any assistance or advice from advanced and expert fliers. ^ Do not fly close to kuildings, electric power lines, or roads. Do not fly near otker people wko are not aware of wkat you are doing. WJMWMM witw WMMMm ©m ©mmb . • Fly on a calm day. Gusty winds will make it kard for you until you learn to control your aircraft well. Turkulence caused ky wind klowing over near ky trees and kuildings will make it very difficult for you to fly. Pick an open area and wait until tke wind is calm. • if you are going to attempt to fly your airplane in tke indoor arena, closer attention and more safety preparation must ke made in order to avoid any possikle casualties or damage to property. if you are flying at a field witk otker modelers, DO NOT turn on you transmitter until you are certain tkat no one else is using your ckannel.
