ESTHER WERTHEIMER’S PRESS RELEASE November 2009 Esther Wertheimer was in Italy. She was invited by the City of Florence to participate in the 2009 Florence Biennale with her sculptures; “Invictus, Five Dancers, and Madre Gambe Incrociate” were on display. At the end of the exhibition, the Biennale awarded her the “Gold Medal of Lorenzo il Magnifico” and a certificate to honor her career and work. Esther Wertheimer has been in a total of seven exhibitions this year and has no plans of slowing down with four more planned in the second half of 2010. On September 4th, 2009 Esther Wertheimer was invited to attend the 4th Annual “100% Pure Florida” Exhibition that was held at the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery in Melbourne, Florida. Wertheimer’s colored sculpture, “Madre Gambe Incrociate”, won best in show out of 99 artists and 277 pieces of art. She was awarded a solo exhibition for the month of June 2010. Her opening reception debuted on Friday, June 4th, where art enthusiasts and fans met Wertheimer and her artwork while she lectured about the history of her career and the creation process of her famous colored sculptures. Wertheimer was invited by the New York Florence Biennale to become part of their exhibition. She will be the only sculptor at this exhibition and only artist attending that was honored by the Florence Biennale. Esther Wertheimer’s sculpture, “Invictus”, was accepted and won the Honorary Nathaniel Kaz cash award at the 67th Annual Audubon Exhibition, which was held at the Salmagundi Club in New York, New York. The sculpture was on display through the month of October 2009. In Washington, Esther Wertheimer is also a part of an organization called ArtsWest Artist Association. Recently they held a group show for all the members called (dis)connect. Wertheimer’s colored sculpture “Hurdles/Leap” was featured for the show. As the group show is over, the sculpture is now located in the Gunnar Nordstrom gallery in Bellevue, Washington. On September 21st to the 26th, Esther Wertheimer will be having a twoperson exhibition with famous abstract painter, Jean Paul Riopelle. This exhibition will be sponsored by Galerie Lamoureux Ritzenhoff at their new location in old Montreal at the 5-star historic Intercontinental Hotel where her monumental sculpture “Airborn” will also be on display as well as many of her bronze and colored works.
