Linking lives to opportunity since 1954
2015 Annual Report
LifeLinks continues Six Decades of
Quality Service to the Community
Introduction
As I began to reflect on the year that has just passed, I realized just what an
extraordinary year it has been. Some of our most rewarding moments are
highlighted in the report that follows. In addition to all that we recount
here, know that LifeLinks has finalized our newest Strategic Plan, setting out
the road map for the immediate future. I’ve also reflected on our mission
and vision and how truly humbled I am to lead the incredibly talented and
dedicated people who work at LifeLinks. As with every organization, we face
challenges, but providing high-quality and personally valued services to our
individuals is what we strived for and I believe that we achieved, every day.
Everyone defines quality differently, but I view it as doing right by everyone
we support, in a way that is personally meaningful to them. Every day at
LifeLinks the personal commitment is obvious and the ability to inspire
others to push past mediocrity continues.
I hope that you will enjoy reading about what was accomplished during
our 60th year, and what our plans are for moving the organization forward.
I thank you, the people we support and the families, our employees,
volunteers, partners and donors. With your continued involvement and
support we look forward to another rewarding year when we will focus
on quality, maintain our passion for service and uphold our personal
commitment to each individual to live a full and rewarding life.
Jean M. Phelps, CEO
“We are proud to serve on the
Board of Directors and are passionate
about LifeLinks’ mission and the clients
we serve.” In the words of Madame Marie
Curie ‘You cannot hope to build a better world
without improving the individuals.’ To that end,
each of us must work for our own improvement
and, at the same time, share a general
responsibility for all humanity, our
particular duty being to aid those to
whom we think we can be most useful.”

Six Decades of Partners
Moving Forward
Moving Forward
“Quality is
never an accident. It
is always the result
of intelligent effort.”
John Ruskin
At LifeLinks we take tremendous pride
in our proven track record for excellence in
program quality that people with developmental
and intellectual disabilities, and their families, have
come to rely upon. The experience gained over the
past 61 years has been key in helping us to identify
the changing needs within our community and
to develop innovative solutions. As we look to
the future, these are some of the areas we are
exploring to expand our service options
into a wider circle of quality care.
Complementary Services
LifeLinks has offered the Shared Living
residential model since 2000. The many
benefits of this unique service model have been
recognized and often preferred by families, funders,
and individuals. Beginning this year, LifeLinks
expects to broaden this program by extending
Shared Living homes and family life to more
individuals within our service network.
“It’s not about
being the best.
It’s about being
better than
yesterday.”
We believe that we can build
upon services and supports we have
developed for people with intellectual
and developmental disabilities to design new
programming that will further enhance the lives
of those we currently support as well as new
populations. In the coming years we will explore
options for Employment, Adult Day Health,
Adult Family Care and Acquired Brain
Injury services.

Shared Living
Autism Services
According to Autism Speaks, “Ten years ago,
autism’s estimated prevalence was 1 in 166.
Today it’s 1 in 68 – an increase of more than
100% in one decade.” Given this dramatic shift,
there is tremendous need for services to support
persons with autism. LifeLinks will investigate
opportunities to create quality programming
for adults and children with autism.
