our story
A 2009 road trip across Texas and Louisiana,
ignited a passion to bring home the flavours,
culture and hospitality of the Southern States.
A year later the first Hickory’s Smokehouse opened
in Chester with the aim of pioneering authentic
Southern style barbecue this side of the Atlantic.
We return to the region every year to look
for inspiration and pinch an idea or two,
allowing our guests to discover the real taste
and atmosphere of the Deep South,
without having to leave our shores.

Here at Hickory’s Smokehouse, we ship wood
for our smokers all the way from the U.S.
The hit of a homerun, the slow beat of Delta blues
and the sweet, smokey heart of barbecue joints across
the region are all a result of American Hickory wood.
From drumsticks to baseball bats the wood
is steeped in history and culture and when we
saw the huge stacks piled high, we knew that
we had found our name.
