Family Resource Centre
Calendar
A few more weeks of the cold weather and winter will finally be over! Until then, get
ready for a fun filled march break! Happening the week of the 14th through the 18th the
FRC has planned some pretty amazing things! Spaces for all activities and outings are
limited so we encourage you to register as soon as possible. All outings are offered at no
cost as well as TTC tokens will be provided for the travel(s). All that’s left to do is either
pack a lunch or you can choose to purchase a lunch while we’re out. Due to safety
precautions all children attending must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
Also, the very successful Family Fun Night will continue each Friday as we come up with
new ideas for everyone to take part in! Remember: If you have any suggestions that you
would like to contribute for Family Fun Night, please let us know! 
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact one of the staff and/or drop
by to see us!

Healthy Eats Corner
Egg and Toast Cups
6 slices whole-wheat bread
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
1 ounce shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese (about 1/4 cup)
1/4 cup finely chopped tomato
6 large eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 bacon slices, cooked and crumbled
1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°.
2. Flatten each bread slice with a rolling pin until very thin. Trim crusts off bread. Lightly brush both
sides of bread slices with melted butter. Cut each bread slice in half diagonally.
3. With cut sides facing, place 2 bread halves in each of 6 muffin cups, making sure to cover bottom
entirely and allowing bread corners to extend above rims. Bake at 375° for 5 minutes or until bread is
slightly firm. Remove pan from oven; sprinkle 2 teaspoons shredded cheese into each cup. Top each cup
with 2 teaspoons chopped tomato. Crack 1 egg into each cup; sprinkle eggs evenly with salt and pepper.
Bake an additional 18 minutes or until whites are set and yolks are still a bit runny or to desired degree
of doneness. Remove egg cups from pan; sprinkle evenly with bacon and chives, if desired.

Ongoing Programs
Excel
Excel, our early years program, is designed to offer programming that both
reflects Ontario’s early years philosophy while also providing the necessary
skills to further one’s learning. In Excel, a specific focus on pre-literate and
numeracy acquisition skills is carried forward through a variety of activities and
learning experiences while the staff also pays particular attention to each child’s
specific learning trajectory.
Learning through Play time
Learning through play time is a drop-in program for parents and caregivers
with children 0-6 years old. We will be exploring the world of numbers, the
alphabet, and other thematic activities. Activity time can also be used for
parent relief with approved registration when a parent needs to attend
necessary medical appointments and other simple errands. *To reserve a
space for Activity Time please speak to a playschool staff regarding registration and
preferred times.* There are a total of 5 parent relief spaces available per session.
Family Fun Night
Join us on Friday evenings between 4-6 pm as we have a light dinner and
engage in various activities such as scrap booking, game night, and Lego
challenge nights. *Youth consent forms are now being distributed to parents
who wish to have someone underage be the designate authority figure for
their child(ren).* Please also note: If you wish to use our family movie night
as parental relief, you must pre-register.
Lending Library
The Lending Library in the Playschool Room (4110 Lawrence Ave. E.)
provides an opportunity where families can borrow a wide variety of toys and
books free of charge and return them in a timely manner. *We are now offering
thematic kits that can also be signed out!!*
