GREETINGS FROM THE
GENERAL MANAGER
First, let me say a very warm “Hello” to our purchasers who are reading Zen News for the first time. This
is the second issue of our newsletter, through which
we will keep you posted on the latest events concerning Zen Residence.
We held the official launch for our condominium
project from July 4 to 6. Because various people
were interested but could not make it to our premises
during those three days, we
extended our launch over the
following weekends – July 11 &
12 and July 18 & 19.
Overall, we had more than 500
visitors – many of them young
couples looking to get a place
of their own – coming to check
out our showhouse in Puchong.
To our purchasers who brought
family and friends, and to our
new buyers, “Thank you very
much for your support.”
As a result of the great response, we have sold 90% of

the units at Block A, and 80% of those at Block B.
Altogether, our 21-storey twin blocks have 286 units.
We are proud to say that most of our visitors were
impressed with what they saw at our showhouse.
Most of them felt assured by the added security
measures we have put in place for every quadrant on
each level of the condominium.
Many were excited about the sky shower and the
spacious lanai, which brings the outdoors indoors.
Others commented on the high-quality finish of our
interiors, particularly the kitchen cabinets and the
ceramic tiles in the bathroom.
We are happy to report that foundation work on
Block A is 100% complete and work on Block B
began on Sept 1. Work on the main building of Block
A started on Sept 9 and we target to complete it 24
months from that date.
Now to share something exciting. Celebrity interior
designer Eric Leong has described Zen Residence
as “a fine example of what Zen living is all about”.
In fact, he will be featuring our condominium in
the second episode of the “ID Show”, which will be
aired on Astro Wah Lai Toi (Channel 311) on Sept
20, 8.30pm.
Leong had visited Zen Residence in July with Kelly
Tham, winner of the Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant 2008, to film scenes for this new interior
design show.
The weekly programme sees host Eric visiting
locations (for example, showhouses, hotels and
restaurants) which have outstanding interior designs.
He talks about home decor tips and products – like
how to use accessories, furniture, lighting, paint
and tiles to make your living space more stylish and
comfortable.

Residence is unique.

YEN FOR ZEN
Ever heard someone say, usually with a soft sigh,
“This is so Zen”?
She could be referring to a cluster of bamboo
shoots on a patio; pebbles strewn across a
trodden path; a spiral of patterns on the sand;
water bubbling from a stream; a bonsai on a
windowsill; calligraphy framed on a wall, or a
single blossom in an ikebana arrangement.
What is Zen?
To put it simply, it is a philosophy centred
on the purity and beauty of nature. The Zen
approach emphasises that when we embrace
our surroundings in our daily life, we will find
serenity, inspiration and strength from being
at one with it.
There is an interesting story about drawing
strength from going with the flow of nature.
The Taoists claim that Confucius once saw an
old man falling off a waterfall, into a rapidly
flowing river. Miraculously, the man came out
unharmed downstream.
When asked how he managed to save himself,
the man said: “I allowed myself to be shaped
by the water and let it carry me along. After plunging into the swirl, I came out with it.”
In practice, Zen involves a continuous communion
with nature that enables us to tap its abundance,
which may not always be obvious, as we rush about
from day to day.
A verse, whose author is unknown, puts it
succinctly:
Lightning flashes,
Sparks show,
In one blink of your eyes,
You have missed seeing.
Sometimes, the connection with nature is meditative: you sit in a quiet garden and reflect on images
that come to your mind’s eye as you look around
you. Sometimes, it is intuitive: you catch the sun’s
rays on a moss-covered boulder and marvel at the
glory of light, which sustains life itself.
In essence, Zen favours the concept of less is more,
so nothing is flashy, forced or fake. The aim is to
keep things simple and natural, and suggest, rather
than reveal. What’s often surprising is that, through
this subtle approach, what you wish to convey often
comes out with amazing clarity.
Japanese gardens reflect this best, with neat grounds
that strike a harmonious balance with air, water,
light and sounds. The result is a sanctuary that
envelops every visitor with a sense of calm, comfort
and well-being.
And Zen gardens, especially, are famed for creative
landscapes that show the best of what nature has
to offer. No wonder people flock there to immerse
themselves in the energy and solitude of natural
beauty.
At Zen Residence, minimalist architecture combines
with open spaces, water elements and greenery to
create a buffer from the strains of the day. Here, you
will find a tranquil and safe refuge that you can truly
call home.
