IndyCar racing series to return to Road America
The IndyCar racing series
will return to the Road
America road course
racetrack in Elkhart Lake in
2016.
The event is set for June 2426. In addition to the Verizon IndyCar Series,
all three levels of the Mazda
Road to Indy will compete
on race weekend.
Road America is a four-mile,
14-turn racetrack that was
established in 1955.
Road America hosted
IndyCar races from 1982 to
2007.
"We know how revered Road
America is by our drivers,
teams and fans and
we're confident it will be a
great event on the 2016
Verizon IndyCar Series
calendar," said Mark Miles,
CEO of Hulman & Co., the
parent of IndyCar and
the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. "We're thankful to (Road
America president and general
manager) George Bruggenthies
and his staff for their collaboration in bringing IndyCar back to
one of the most iconic road
courses in North America."

Sssshhhhh! Can you keep a secret?
Our spies have gotten intelligence that some PCAMilwaukee Region members
have been spotted scouting
Porsche-appropriate backroads
for a potential tour next May
(yes, that’s 2016! ).
Our eavesdropping equipment
has heard some curious words
being thrown about including
something about an on-water
conveyance that has a positive
first-name association with a
well-known Porsche family
member, a city with connections
to Frank Lloyd Wright, a
winery that holds an annual car show on their
grounds, a walking tour of
a historic Wisconsin city
that has a connection to
early lead-mining days, as
well as a two-night stay in
a historic Illinois city with
ties to riverboat days, a
former U.S. President, and
the Civil War.
If you don’t participate, your
excuse can’t be that you weren’t given adequate notice). In
fact, our PCA-MR drone has
captured photos that lend
some credence to this intelligence.
We have suspicions that this
could be a prelude to a Great
River Road Tour – Part Three!
If you’re at all intrigued, you will
want to hold the dates of Friday, May 20, through Sunday, May 22, 2016 open on
your calendars. Stay tuned;
we’ll report additional intelligence as we get it!
Drive to brunch, follow-the-leader style
Join us for a drive to brunch Sept. 20. Start at Black Canyon 300 E .
Summit Ave, Wales, for cars and coffee and
then do a follow-the-leader drive to brunch at
Fox and Hounds, Hubertus, near Holy Hill.
$14.99 per adult.
Schedule: Cars & Coffee starts at 8 a.m.
Drivers' meeting at 8:45 a.m. and depart for
the driving tour at 9 a.m.
RSVP by email: [email protected] due Thursday, Sept 18.

September 2015 Steinlifters
DE event declared a big success
By Terry Royals, DE chair
More than 100
registered drivers
participated in a
safe, exciting
driving
experience.
Wow, what a perfect day
(especially if you like it a little
warm) to be at Road America.
We hosted a Drivers Education
event on Aug. 14 that included
more than 100 registered drivers. As in years past there was a
strong focus on growing the
number of participants, especially first time drivers. (We had 34
new participants. Yeah!) As we
know, after the first time on the
track, they will return.
In addition to the drivers, we
were joined by 35 veterans who
enjoyed a driving tour as passengers in Porsches during the lunch
hour. U.S. flags were displayed in
their honor. This is always a
heart warming experience.
Thanks to all those who took
some time away to drive them
around.
Putting
on such
an event
is not a
one person job.
This year
was filled
with volunteers,
new and
old. Some of the things our volunteers helped with included:
1. Assembling check-in bags
2. Registration
3. Marketing the event
4. Handling the many pieces of
paper that come to us
5. Tech inspection (CS MotorSports)
6. Addressing the multitude of
requests
The one special volunteer we
want to mention by name is Al
Wagner. This was Al's last DE
event as a volunteer (but we
hope not as a driver) and speaking personally, as the DE Chair,
I (we) am going to miss him.
Al has become a great friend
and someone I know our club
can count on for his organizational skills and ensuring everything is accurate throughout the
year. The one thing you might
not know, is that Al takes between 40-60 hours of his time
the week prior to the DE event
to ensure novice pairings are
appropriate, solicits additional
instructors and most of all...he
makes sure we are set up to
have a GREAT event.
Al, thanks for your help in bringing our DE program back to
life...we are going to miss you.
Participant expresses thanks
A participant wrote this note following the
event: "Thank you Alan and the Milw. Porsche Club for allowing me to drive the track
and serve a veteran. His name I believe
was Carl and he lives at the Milw. V.A.
center. He seemed to enjoy it, although his
speech was limited. I also brought along a
friend, a Vietnam vet. He also got a good
ride in a silver Porsche. Lord willing we will
do it again next year. Thanks again, Ken
Dressler.
Look for more photos of our DE
fun in the next issue of
Steinlifters.
Porsches show off on Club Saturday at the Milwaukee Masterpiece
Patti O’Krongly (above), region member and one of the
many volunteers who worked at the Masterpiece, checks in
Porsches and guides them to the designated parking area on
the show field.

Milwaukee — for more photos.

event kicked off the Masterpiece weekend. Photos by

Porsche Rennsport Reunion V
September 25-27, 2015 Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Rennsport Reunion is the
world’s largest gathering of
Porsche racecars, renowned
drivers, and Porsche collector cars. This September the
event returns to the historic
and picturesque Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for an encore.
Hosted by Porsche Cars
North America, Rennsport

near-racing
speeds, on a fabled racecourse.
Visitors will also
be able to examine these fabled
racecars up close

enthusiasts, and
drink in the atmosphere of
Porsche enthusiasm.
After staging the first three

Daytona International
Speedway, Rennsport Reunion IV moved west in 2011
to Laguna Seca, offering a
vast array of West Coast car
aficionados and Porsche enthusiasts a the opportunity

invited race participants, as well
as special activities celebrating each of the six decades of
legendary Porsche racecars.
Hundreds of Porsche owners
