Monthly programs are held from 7 to 8 p.m., the first Thursday of each month. Unfortunately, the first Thursday of January 2015 happens to be New Year's Day. "If you were present for the last KWG monthly program, you know our members voted overwhelmingly to either move the date or cancel the January meeting," Erin Rowland, current KWG president, said. January Workshop Focuses On Interviewing Skills And Article Writing By Adria Amos D ebra Dylan, co -editor of "KnoxZine," will teach a workshop to help writers improve their interviewing skills and article writing from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at Remedy Coffee, 125 W. Jackson Ave. Sponsored by the Knoxville Writers' Guild, cost is $35 for KWG members and $40 for nonmembers. "This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in improving conversation skills and clarity in writing. It is geared toward beginner or intermediate writers who want to improve and expand their body of work," Dylan said. In addition, "We will discuss the importance of reading and daily habits for inspiration, knowledge, and ideas. We will discuss preparation for different types of interviews; rapport with your subject; what happens when an interview is not working; how to stay organized; and overcoming common pitfalls when writing articles," she added. Dylan's work has appeared in "The Knoxville Voice," "Twisted Hillbilly," "EvaMag" and the state of Tennessee's history newsletter, "The Courier." In 2013, she and Buck Kahler launched KnoxZine.com, an online magazine celebrating the unsung heroes in our community. Tennessee Mountain Writers Presents January Jumpstart XV By Melanie Harless Make plans now to attend TMW's January Jumpstart XV, January 911, 2015 at the Best Western Morristown Conference Center at exit 8 off I-81 in Morristown TN. Concurrent workshops will be led by Jane Sasser in fiction and Bill Brown in poetry.
