1. Level the area to be treated. Regrade
the slope and tamp the soil to the desired
shape. Remove all protruding rocks,
root stumps etc.
2. Do first seeding of grass at 10 g per sq.m.

direction of water flow. Adjoining nettings
should overlap by 15 cm or be stitched

slope for the purpose. Fill in the slots with
soil and tamp it flush with the soil surface.

5. Peg down the nettings using staples
of 3 mm steel wire or similar. Staples should
be driven down at intervals of 30-60 cm:
along sides and overlapping sections
at c/c 15 cm.
6. Do second seeding of grass at 10 g per
sq.m. after the MATTINGS is in place.
Finally, tamp the netting flush with the soil
surface.
7. Irrigate the slopes as required to promote
the growth of vegetation.
Coir Geotextiles are an effective way to prevent
soil erosion on slopes and re-establish natural
vegetation. The coir matting is easy to install,
and since it is biodegradable no work is
required after the initial installation.

Coir Logs are 100% Natural coconut fiber logs used for reducing slope lengths, slow flowing
water, protect erodible soils and encourage vegetation growth through biotechnical stabilization.
Coir Logs are economical, durable and biodegradable providing excellent structural stability and
resistance to forces of water action until the vegetation is naturally established. During the initial
installation process.
Coir Logs can be planted with seedlings and/or cuttings and inserted into the fiber core.
Coir Log applications occur in many stream bank, wetland and upland environments. Sediment
deposited in and around the Coir Logs provides an excellent growth medium for plants. As the
Coir Logs biodegrade, the plants develop a well-established root system in the sediment to retain
the soil in place.
Coir Logs are available in 6”, 12”, 16” and 20” diameter. The logs are typically 10’, or 20’ long.

Installation:
1. Locate Coir Log in path of downward side
of the water flow.
2. Place Coir Log in 2”-4” deep trench
to insure water does not flow under the
Coir Log.
3. Anchor log in place with wooden stakes,
or rebar approximately between 2’ and 3’
apart and 12” from each end for
best support.

stake directly across the log attached with coir twine.
5. Pound wood stakes into the ground until there is
approximately 2” to 3” of stake sticking above the

The following erosion products are designed to hold seed and soil in place until vegetation
is established. All of the natural materials are highly absorbent, holding many times their
weight in water. The open weave construction in our matting and jute products allow over
seeding after installation and after initial vegetation are established. All of these materials
are totally biodegradable, such as our jute, within as little as two years.

Coir fiber logs are long coir-knotted netting tubes filled with coir fiber. The logs are widely used on
stream banks, seashores, and lakeshores for controlling mudslides, as well as vast amounts of
loose sand in regions with diverse environmental conditions.

Natural Blankets
Coir, coir/straw, and straw blanket usage has
become very common among professionals in
various industries due to its versatility. Coir
(coconut fiber) is an abundant, renewable
natural resource with an extremely low
decomposition rate and a high strength
compared to other natural fibers. The
Sacramento Bag Mfg. Co. CC-4 100% coir
blanket is designed to hold seeds and soil in
place for severe 1:1 or greater slopes and as
channel lining until vegetation is established.
The SC-3 30% coconut and 70% straw are used
to control erosion on 2:1-1-1 slopes
and is designed to handle medium flow in
discharge channels and areas where protection
is needed for more than one season. The SR-1
and SS-2 100% straw blankets are designed to
last about 10 months on 3:1-2:1 slopes with
moderate discharges of water channels.

Jute is made from natural fibers of a bamboo-like plant and is rated as one of the most dependable
and proven erosion products available. Jute stabilizes the soil and promotes the establishment of
permanent vegetation on all types of slopes (road slopes, drainage slopes, landfill slopes, and
backyard slopes, etc.) Jute conforms to slope contours and surface irregularities. Jute stabilizes
surface soil on slopes with thousands of tiny check dams per square yard.

Xcel® Erosion Blankets
Xcel® erosion blankets are made of Aspen wood
fibers that cling to the soil. Xcel® blankets break up
heavy rainfall, which helps reduce sediment run-off.
The Xcel ® R-1 blanket is covered with a top
photodegradable plastic net with fibers evenly
distributed over the entire area of the blanket. The
Xcel® S-2 blanket has both a top and a bottom
photodegradable plastic net. It can handle flow rates
up to 7’ per second and slopes up to a 1:1. The Xcel®
SD-3 has heavy-duty plastic netting encased around the Aspen fibers’ top, bottom and
edges. The Xcel® SD-3 blanket can handle slope angles greater than 1:1 and water velocities up
to 12’ per second.

Xcel® Permamat
Xcel® Permamat is available in three distinct types:
Permamat 100, Permamat 150F and Permamat 200F.
Permamat 100 is ideal for reinforcing root systems on high
fill slopes and distributing excessive loads of saturated soils.
Permamat 150F is used where moderate-to-saturated fill
slopes are needed. Permamat 200F is used for heavier lift
forces than Permamat 150F and is especially effective in
protecting against scour and containing post-flood drainage
and slope.

Western Excel Logs and Wattles
Western Xcel excelsior logs are designed to fit across high flow
channel bottoms in order to slow down high water velocity flows,
and stop silt movement. They absorb water up to seven times
their weight. The Aspen fibers in the log offset undermining, over
topping, and blowouts. Western Excel straw logs and wattles
are designed to be used wherever straw/hay bales have been
used as a sediment filter barrier in the roadside ditches, medians,
swales, and around drop water inlets.

Woven Construction Fabric
The failure of an unpaved road system is often caused by the contamination of high strength
aggregate materials by weaker subgrade materials. Introducing a geotextile into the system at
the aggregate/subgrade interface can assist in maintaining the original aggregate thickness. In
weak subgrade situations the geotextile must reinforce as well as separate. Woven Geotextiles
are made from 100% polypropylene and comes with UV resistance and high tensile strength over
90 lb. and durability make it a good choice for soil stabilization and soil separation. The Econo
separation fabric is a permeable, woven, polypropylene Geotextile. It is designed for applications
where soil separation is the major function and strength is not a critical factor. Non-exposure to
UV is specified. The 3.4-oz and 4.8 oz can be used for light and medium road traffic and permit air
and water to pass through for proper soil absorption and prevent contamination of subgrade
materials causing failure.

Non-Woven Filter Fabric
The poor performance of load bearing structures such as road beds, retaining walls or building
foundations can often be traced to the presence of subsurface water and build up of pore water
pressure Non-woven Geotextiles can assist in the collection and removal of this potentially
damaging water. Non-woven Geotextiles used at the native soil/aggregate interface also protect
the drainage system from contamination by soil fines, while permitting free flow of water.

Spun-bond fabric is commonly used as a soil separator, filter fabric, or weed barrier. Spunbond
material has a high flow rate as much as 76 gallons per minute per square foot that makes it good
for filter/separator to stop soil from escaping around retaining walls joints or pavement applications.
Spun-bond works as a weed suppressant because it provides an even, dense surface that impedes
weed growth from below the fabric and retards weed penetration above the fabric. Sacramento
Bag’s spun-bond has an UV additive, which enables it to last longer than other filter fabrics do.

“SNAKE BAG™” GRAVEL WATTLE
The “SNAKE BAG” is designed to form 6 “gravel wattle 4’ in length and weighing approximate 50
lb. when filled with ¼” gravel. The “SNAKE BAG” can be used over and over again because the
“SNAKE BAG” is heat sealed to prevent rupture and is made of a high UV mono-filament weave
for strength and durability. The “SNAKE BAG” is designed for the first line of defense in filtration
in roadways and will trap particle sizes as small as .1 fine sand.
“Gravel Bag”
Sacramento Bag’s “Orange Gravel Bag” is made
of the same high UV mono-filament material as our
“Snake Bag” and is used where visibility and burst
strength are needed because of traffic problems on
the roadway running over the bags.
“Filter Bag”
Sacramento Bag’s “Filter Bag” is made of high flow filter fabric and is
designed to trap fine silt up to .01 mm. Use the “Filter Bag” around the
culvert for a last line of defense for filtration before entering storm drains.
Sacramento Bags “ Burlap Sandbags” have been used as a second line of
dense for a long period of time in the construction industry. “ Burlap
Sandbags” handle heavy flows of water and
filtrate particle sizes as small as coarse to
medium silt .05 to .02 mm in size, depending
on what material is put in the burlap sandbag.
Sacramento Bag’s “Woven Polypropylene Sandbags” are used
to divert water away from a culvert and to help form pooling.
They are very slow in filtrating water but do catch particle sizes
as small as fine silt or .01 mm in size.

THE DRAIN DONUT TO GRATE
For filtration the filter uses high flow
woven or non-woven polypropylene
fabric. This fabric allows storm water
to pass through while holding back silt
and sediment.
Storm water must pass through the
filter to enter the catch basin during
normal flow levels.

1. Pull the basin grate and wrap
the edges of the filter around

“SNAKE BAG™” GRAVEL WATTLE
The “SNAKE BAG” is designed to form 6 “gravel wattle 4’ in length and weighing approximate 50
lb. when filled with ¼” gravel. The “SNAKE BAG” can be used over and over again because the
“SNAKE BAG” is heat sealed to prevent rupture and is made of a high UV mono-filament weave
for strength and durability. The “SNAKE BAG” is designed for the first line of defense in filtration
in roadways and will trap particle sizes as small as .1 fine sand.
Sacramento Bag’s “Orange Gravel Bag” is made of the same high UV mono-filament material
as our “Snake Bag” and is used where visibility and burst strength are needed because of traffic
problems on the roadway running over the bags.
Sacramento Bag’s “Filter Bag” is made of high flow filter fabric and is designed to trap fine silt up
to .01 mm. Use the “Filter Bag” around the culvert for a last line of defense for filtration before
entering storm drains.
Sacramento Bags “ Burlap Sandbags” have been used as a second line
of dense for a long period of time in the construction industry. “ Burlap
Sandbags” handle heavy flows of water and filtrate particle sizes as small
as coarse to medium silt .05 to .02 mm in size, depending on what material
is put in the burlap sandbag.
Sacramento Bag’s “Woven Polypropylene
Sandbags” are used to divert water away
from a culvert and to help form pooling. They are very slow in
filtrating water but do catch particle sizes as small as fine silt or
.01 mm in size.

REFLECTIVE BAND FENCE
Sacramento Bag reflective band fence comes in an 8” X 750’ roll for easy installation.
The fence comes with post pockets every 3” to make post attachment easy. The reflective band
fence can be also attached with a staple gun and can be cut to any length without the fence
unraveling because it is knitted. The fence is bright orange with two reflective bands for easy
visibility at night or day.

The BASIN BAG™ is designed for catch basin protection. It is reliable, economical and easy to
maintain. The BASIN BAG™ is made with a monofilament polypropylene which has a high tensile
strength, and a high water flow for filtering sediment. The BASIN BAG™ allows storm water to
pass through while retaining silt and sediment within the bag interior The BASIN BAG™ is designed
to be installed as one unit into the catch basin with the BASIN BAG™ attached to the grate. They

installation and is knitted to prevent unraveling. The high UV material will

“ORANGE SILT FENCE”
“ORANGE SILT FENCE” is designed to be used where silt fence and orange warning fence need to be
placed in the same location. The “ORANGE SILT FENCE” can be used around electrical areas while
construction is in progress, which will prevent silt run off into the road and finally into the storm drain.
“ORANGE SILT FENCE” is 3’ high x 100’ long and has a tensile strength of 100 lb. and lasts as long as
regular black silt fence.
Sacramento Bag’s “Pocketed Silt Fence has pockets placed on 6’ center and uses hard wood stakes
inserted into the pocket. The pocket helps the stake from tearing away from the fabric.
Sacramento Bag’s “Heavy Duty Silt Fence” has
hardwood stakes at 8’ centers and has a tensile
strength of 120 lb. Silt fence needs to be installed
stake facing away from the silt flow and contouring
to the hillside. Place silt fence along the dirt side
edge of a sidewalk to prevent soil washing into the
street.
Sacramento Bags “ Straw or Coconut Wattles”
are used around culverts or along the edge of a
sidewalk to filter and slow water flows into the
culvert. Install wattles in a prepared contoured
concave trench 2 to 4 inches deep along the
proposed installation route. This helps prevent
water undercutting the roll. Drive stakes on
alternating sides of the roll. When more than one
roll is used they should be butted up end to end
and not overlapped.
