Seminar Highlights
The interior of a garage being converted into living space for Fred Clinton. The fireplace structure
will be located completely on the interior with only the chimney top on the exterior. The footing and
concrete base, and the rough block shell will be completed just before the workshop.

Day 1: Building a Priorfire Stretcher Firebox
The complete layout, cutting and building the Priorfire firebox set with the
firebrick in the stretcher position.
The firebrick will be cut on a wet saw and set in refractory mortar to form
this very efficient shape.
Learn and work with some real masonry masters.

Day 2: Building a Priorfire Carbolic Curved Smoke Chamber
The complete layout, cutting and building the Priorfire smoke
chamber with its unique “carbolic curved side walls.
This design provides the best performance possible for venting
a fireplace.
Building this design is advanced masonry and requires a real
leap of faith. You will be amazed that with the right instruction,
you will learn how to defy gravity and build this design.
Learn this advanced skill and use the principles to improve
smoke chambers in the field.

Day 3: Installation of a 10” Class A chimney system with masonry anchor plate
The fireplace will be vented with a 10” Class A chimney
system.
We will attach a masonry anchor plate to the top of the smoke
chamber.
Layout for all the pipe, fittings and components we will need.
Install the pipe up through the ceiling and the attic space.
Cut the hole in the roof, run the pipe and install the flashing.
Install a top mounting damper.
A manufactures rep will be there to assist and answer questions.

Day 4: Build a complete façade with antique brick, period color mortar and arch
The fireplace is located completely on the interior
We will layout and build a complete four sided façade using
antique brick with period color mortar.
String lines will be dropped as a guide to keeping the corners
plumb.
The façade will neck-down at mantle height, and the Class A
chimney pipe will get wrapped with brick to the ceiling.
We will also layout and build an arched fireplace opening.
This is a great way to hone those bricklaying skills.
Learn and work with some real masonry masters.
