Parks & Recreation Spring - Summer 2015 Catalog Come Play, Learn & have some Fun! Message from the Director I t is an exciting time to be in Isle of Wight County! The brand new concrete Nike Skate Park was opened this past November. Skateboards and BMX bikers are enjoying the new ramps and rails. We have also been hard at work renovating the buildings at Nike Park. Please consider these new spaces for your meetings and receptions. Looking for a great place with tons of activities for your Spring Breakers? Check out the Spring Break Camp at Nike Park, your kids will thank you! Summer will be right around the corner so don’t forget to sign your children up for our Summer Blast Program at Carrollton 2 | Isle of Wight Parks & Recreation Elementary and Windsor Elementary. Children will participate in sports, games, crafts, and weekly field trips. This is a very popular program so sign up early and lock in your spot. We will also offer soccer camps, and other special interest camps to fill your days. Did you know that there are public beaches in Isle of Wight County? One of the best kept secrets is the beach at Fort Boykin Park. The beach is tucked away in the northern tip of Isle of Wight County. Make sure you bring a wagon to tote your beach supplies because it is a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the ramp to the beach, but the scenery is amazing. Tyler’s Beach also combines a public beach with boat ramp and commercial marina on the northwestern part of the County. Also check with our partners in recreation the Town of Smithfield, the Luter Family YMCA, and the Athletic Associations. Whatever you decide to do this spring and summer, remember to take time to recreate.
