256 Substantial 1941 - 1956 Brooklyn Dodger Yearbook
Collection w/variations (17 pcs)
Ex+.............. 600
Offered is an outstanding run of Brooklyn Dodger yearbooks. Covering the seminal years from 1941-1956, this run
is special in terms of both detail and condition. Presented
with both 1941s, the scarce 1942, both 1955s, both 1956s
and all seven 1950s, how often does this come around?
These vary from a higher-end VG to Near Mint, about
40% Ex-Mt or Near Mint, the balance VG or Ex. All will be
pictured on our web site. Consigned by a long-time collector
with a good eye, this is one of the best runs of its kind in
the hobby to our eyes. Lots of value but truly an evocative
collectible, you almost have to have this if you are a big
Brooklyn Dodger or 1950s baseball fan!
257 1957 Brooklyn Dodgers Yearbook
w/ sigs incl. Koufax & Drysdale9.................. 200
Terrific piece, this is a strong Ex-Mt/NM 1957 Brooklyn
Dodgers yearbook, sadly the final example produced.
Special as this contains no less than 22 signatures. Mostly in
Mint blue sharpie, some are also in vintage blue ballpoint.
Autographs include Koufax, Drysdale, Snider, Newcombe,
Bessent, Amoros, Rube Walker, Erskine and Labine. Often
found in terrible condition, this is one of the very nicest
condition comprehensively signed vintage team yearbooks
that we have ever seen. The winning bidder should really
enjoy this lot. JSA LOA.

something as nice as this. JSA LOA (full).
260Cobb, Ty
9.5................ 700
It is not every day that a new signed Ty Cobb artwork comes
to market; we are very proud to offer this great looking 8 x
10 original unpublished artwork, one-of-a-kind, by artist
Ray St. German. Offering two image of Ty Cobb, one a head
shot, the other the classic image of Cobb sliding into third
base, text details Cobb’s career highlights. Extremely attractive, this is one of the best of the series. Ty Cobb apparently
agreed, as he signed this Very Good I Think Ty Cobb in
bold and flowing blue fountain pen. Cobb images of this
quality and uniqueness are rare and desirable, I like that
this was signed in blue fountain pen and not his usual green
ballpoint ink, almost certainly dating it to the late 1930s or
1940s. A special piece from one of the greatest players in
baseball history, it will be interesting to see where this ends
up. JSA LOA (full).

Perez Steeles

So tough, this is one of the absolute keys to a signed set.
HOFer Earl Averill only had a few years to sign these, creating a relative rarity. Signed in black ink on the left edge, this
is a pleasing signuture that contrasts nicely against the very
clean postcard. This is a great chance to fill in a very tough
hole in your Perez Steele set. JSA LOA (full).

Awesome Ty Cobb cut, this is signed Ty Cobb Feb 25 27 in
fountain pen. Signed as a player, these are thousands of
times rarer than the ballpoint ink signatures from the
1950s and 1960s that always trade. Fresh to the hobby, our
consignor is actually from Georgia, so there might be a
great story here. Perfectly presented in a frame with a fine
oversize image, total size 11 x 16 1/2. This is one of the nicer
1920s Ty Cobb signatures that we have ever seen or handled.

357Collection of 8 Negro League

Letters
360Doubleday, Abner 9.5.............. 1000
The alleged founder of baseball, a Hall of Famer, the man
who fired the first shot of the Civil War and to whom the
location of the HOF can be attributed. Doubleday died in
1893 and is always a very desirable autograph. Usually found
on cuts, it is very unusual to find a full ALS, much less
something double-signed! Offered is a handsome ALS dated
November 25, 1858 on Bank of Bimghampton letterhead.
Content relates to some articles that might involve Doubleday. Signed boldly A. Doubleday at the close and also on the
reverse by Doubleday. JSA LOA (full).
3591941 Hot Dog 50th Anniversary Document Grand
Display w/Babe Ruth and Other HOFers (100+ sigs)
9.5.............. 6000
Great, great piece, offered is a 15 x 26 presentation scroll
from a 50th anniversary dinner in 1941 hosted by the Baseball Writers Association of America celebrating the Harry
M. Stevens company and specifically the hot dog’s relationship with baseball! The reads in part, “The Baseball Writers
of New York and their guests here...making obeisance to
their oblong of succulence, the Hot Dog, which for a half
century has been the backbone of our Great National Pastime”. Dated January 14, 1941, this remarkable document is
signed by over 100 dignitaries, not least Mr. Babe Ruth and
seven other HOFers: Bill Klem (rare, D’51), Ford Frick, Ed
Barrow, Joe McCarthy, Larry MacPhail, Frankie Frisch and
George Weiss. Other notables to the sports world include
Red Barber, Paul Krichell, Harry M. Stevens, Horace Stoneham and Al Schacht. Readers of baseball writing from this
period will recognize the signatures of Frank Graham, Tom
Meany, Dan Daniel, Roscoe McGowen. This is presented in
an enormous 46x36 framed display with the program from
this dinner and a wonderful 19x10 panoramic photo from
the dinner itself. The document itself has some general wear
but still looks great. Baseball and hot dogs do of course go
hand-in-hand, how great is to find something like this from
1941, a magical year in baseball history? The term museum
quality is often abused and stretched to the point where it
has no meaning, the offered lot more than earns that moniker, a grand one-of-a-kind piece pairing Babe Ruth with
Harry M. Stevens and baseball and hot dogs all together!

361Foxx, Jimmie (ALS, superb)
9.5................ 900
Rare, this is a full page ALS from 1962. The few times one
finds a real Foxx on a letter, it always seems to be a TLS. The
offered lot is very clean, and is signed Jimmie Foxx in large
and fine fountain pen. Interesting content as Foxx accepts
an invitation and writes in part I work in the sporting goods
dept of the May Co when I’m health enough. Very good
piece from this vital HOF slugger. JSA LOA (full).
362Heilmann, Harry
9.5................ 240
Fine former .400 hitter and HOFer, Harry Heilmann died in
1951 at age 56, creating a real scarcity for his autograph.
Offered is a very attractive two-page ALS with personal
content to a woman, perhaps his mistress. The writing is
beautiful, this is signed Harry H in bold blue ink. Letters of
this length from Heilmann hardly ever come to market.

363Hubbell, Carl (World Class, Incredible Content)
9.5................ 150
We all know the autograph of New York Giants HOF pitcher
King Carl Hubbell is common, and the minimum bid on
this lot might seem crazy, but just wait till you read this letter. Most letters from baseball players are short notes devoid
of meaningful or insightful comment, making the offered
lot so remarkable. This is an absolutely gorgeous full page
ALS dated April 22, 1978. Content reads in part: “When I
finally got a chance in the big leagues after five years in the
Minors and proved I was a big leaguer pitcher, I set a plan
for myself that I would not do anything to interfere with my
career in baseball on or off the field. The most memorable
moment in my career was the moment I knew my career was
over and I sat down and went over my career and baseball
life and was satisfield that I had fufilled the plans that I had
set for myself ”. Signed Carl Hubbell in Mint blue ballpoint
ink. One of the most interesting and insightful letters we
have ever seen from a Hall of Fame baseball player, this
really has to be in any serious collection of fine letters. This
was buried within a classic Barry Halper New York Giants
binder for almost 40 years! A gorgeous inscribed 8x10 accompanies the letter. JSA LOA.
364Johnson, Walter
9................... 750
Gorgeous Walter Johnson full ALS, this comes with the
original transmittal envelope which is postmarked in 1935,
so we have to believe this was written in 1935. Content
relates to former catcher Larry Woodall, whom Johnson
tactfully rejects for his Indian team in favor of younger
players. The letter has the usual fold lines and general wear,
but nonetheless displays quite well. The letterhead is from a
Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans, LA. Signed Walter Johnson
at the close, a huge and simply gorgeous Johnson signature
that is nice as you will see on a letter. With Johnson cuts and
3x5s regularly selling for over $1,000, letters of this quality
are amazing relative bargains in this market. Perhaps the
greatest pitcher ever, Johnson died in 1946. JSA LOA (full).

365Young, Cy in Folio!
7................... 300
Fantastic piece, this is a small 5 1/3 x 6 3/4 cardboard folio
with an image of Cy Young on the cover holding a bat.
Removed from a very, very old scrapbook, this little treasure
has a full ALS from 1931 on the inside! Dated January 29th,
1931, content is warm and somewhat personal. Signed Cy
Young with his usual inscription. All writing is in fountain
pen but the contrast is not perfect as it is on a darker medium. Still any Cy Young letter in this format is a real find.
This is completely fresh to the hobby. JSA LOA.
Signed Photos
366Alexander, Grover Cleveland
7................... 500
One of the great names in early 20th century baseball history, his autograph is always so popular among collectors.
People ask $1,000 for cuts and 3x5s, how often does a photo
come around? Offered is a very attractive 6 1/4 x 7 glossy
image of Alexander as a Chicago Cub. Signed in blue ballpoint ink, a pleasing signature that will look better in person. We have not had one of these in years. JSA LOA (full).
367Brandt, Ed
9.5................ 105
Something you just never see, offered is a very large 4 x 10
newspaper photo of Brandt making a play with Al Lopez.
Signed very boldly by Ed Brandt in dark period fountain
pen. Brandt died in 1944 at only age 39 and is a rare autograph on any medium, much less a single signed photo of
this size. JSA LOA.

368Cobb, Ty
9................... 750
Very unusual and interesting Ty Cobb signed photo, offered
is an extremely attractive 6x9 sepia portrait from 1951.
A fairly unique image of a more mellow Cobb, this is noted
Proof Illustrated Photo Services of New York. Signed by
Ty Cobb in fountain pen and dated April 8, 1951, a very fine
signature. The photo has some general wear and a corner
crease, but still looks great. Cobb signed photos are so undervalued in this market, and this one is real beauty.
JSA LOA (full).
369Lajoie, Nap
5................... 300
Charming deckle cut photo is just over 3x4 and offers a
classic b/w image of King Larry. Signed twice, the first is a
very large signature over the image that can only be seen if
tilted at a proper angle. The second signature is light but on
the bottom margin. Lajoie signed photos are quite scarce
and this one will not break the bank. JSA LOA (full).
370Landis, Kenesaw Mountain (stunning quality) 9.5.. 300
One of the most vital figures in all of baseball history, he
comes around on letters but is genuinely scarce on a photo.
Offered is a simply gorgeous 5x7 closeup image of this irascible judge and true driver of baseball history. Signed and
inscribed to a Milton and dated January 17, 1948. Signed in
gorgeous black fountain pen, this is special both because of
its quality and also because Landis died only the following
year. One can only imagine how Landis would handle the
current steroids era in baseball! JSA LOA (full).

384 Clemente, Roberto Signed 1962 Program 8.......... 400
Neat piece, this is a pleasing mid-grade example of the 1962
Pittsburgh Pirates team yearbook. The inside contents have
minute check marks on many images, the cover retains
vivid original color and presents quite well. This is special
as this has a very pleasing and attractive Roberto Clemente
autograph at the upper right corner. The autograph has a
great flow and is a classic Clemente exemplar. In addition,
the very tough Diomedes Olivo (D’1977 at age 58) signed on
the bat in the image. JSA LOA.
385Foxx, Jimmie Signed 1950 Program 9................... 180
Very unusual Foxx item, this is an original circa 1950
Bridgeport Bees Minor League scorecard. Signed boldly
by Foxx in pencil on the scoresheet, also with three other
unknown autographs. The Foxx is an attractive Jimmy Foxx
pencil signature and the scorecard itself is clean. JSA LOA.
386 Paige, Satchel Signed 1965 Globetrotters Program
9................... 150
Always desirable, offered is an original color Harlem Globetrotters program from 1965. The cover is loose, this otherwise looks great, with the usual suspects within. Signed by
Paige on the cover, a fine and flowing black ballpoint ink
signature. PSA DNA LOA (full).
3871977 Yankees w/Munson (incredible quality)
9.5................ 600
Awesome piece, this is a 16x20 cardboard page with the
Yankees logo from the 1970s in the center. An obsession for
the person who obtained this, there are an incredible
43 different signatures!, all in fairly well matched and Mint
blue sharpie. This stunner starts with Thurman Munson, a
huge and Mint signature, as nice one will see. This continues
with George Steinbrenner, Gabe Paul and Elston Howard,
a trio you do not often see on these items. Billy Martin and
Reggie Jackson are here too, with Tony Kubek, Yogi Berra,
the scarce Dick Howser, Guidry, Chambliss, Bobby Cox,
who you also never see on 1977 Yankee items and Pinella.
Truly a World Class 1977 World Championship Yankees
piece, this is for someone who only wants the best! Unique,
it would be hard to imagine anything else resembling this in
quantity or quality. JSA LOA (full).
Black/White HOF Plaques
388Clarke, Fred
9.5................ 150
Desirable piece, this is a very clean Albertype plaque. Signed

Clarke died in 1960 and is always desirable on this postcard.
D’1960.
389Crawford, Sam (double-signed)
9.5................ 120
Good piece, this is a very clean Artvue plaque signed on the
front and back by deadball era HOFer Wahoo Sam Crawford. Both signatures are in impeccable black ballpoint ink
and look terrific. Spotless quality, slabbed by PSA DNA.
390Walsh, Ed
8.5................ 300
Good plaque, this extremely fine HOF deadball era pitcher
died in 1959. Postmarked 1951, this has a very clean blue
ink signature in the bottom margin. Slight wear at the lower
left is the only distraction here. This is desirable as it is an
earlier pre-1954 Albertype. JSA LOA (full).

Yellow HOF Plaques
391Dave Bancroft
9................... 500
One of the absolute keys to a signed set, this is truly rare and
something that we have only handed a few times in 20+
years. The offered piece is a superb example, clean and
signed at the top margin in bold blue ballpoint ink. Bancroft was inducted into the HOF in 1971 and died in 1972,
he had only one year to sign these. A truly special piece, who
wants to add a true rarity to their signed plaque collection?
JSA LOA (full).
392Roy Campanella
9.5................ 500
Another rarity, people had Campy sign several things when
we did a few shows in the early 1990s, but these were among
the least popular due to the cost of his autograph. Missing
from almost all sets, these have brought thousands and
thousands the few times they have come to market. Offered
is a superb example, signed in perfectly bold and spotless
blue sharpie ink, occupying the entire top panel. Terrific
piece is something you just never see. JSA LOA (full).
395Jackie Robinson
9.5................ 400
Another vital piece, this one is signed on the back. The postcard looks to be perfectly clean and is signed Best Wishes
Jackie Robinson in especially bold and impeccable black
ballpoint ink. The terrific signature contrasts very nicely
against the perfectly clean white background. Tough item,
these seem to have utterly dried up in recent years.
JSA LOA (full).
396Jackie Robinson
9.5................ 600
Gorgeous Jackie signed plaque, the nicest one we have had
in years. Signed in particularly bold and clean blue ballpoint in the top margin; when these come to market, they
are usually signed on the back. Quality is exceptional, this
will be an upgrade for almost anyone. One of the absolute
keys to a signed set, this is one of the best possible flat items
on which to collect the autograph of this beloved and most
vital HOFer. JSA LOA (full).
393Gabby Hartnett
9................... 125

and happens to be very tough. Often with condition issues,
the offered piece is signed very neatly at the upper left corner in blue ballpoint. JSA LOA (full).
397Pie Traynor
8................... 300
Such a tough piece, this is one of the absolute keys to a
signed set. Lots of writing, this is signed With best regards
Pie Traynor in flowing blue ballpoint ink over the entire

around on yellow plaques. JSA LOA (full).

442Conigliaro, Tony and Billy
8................... 300
One of the oddest bats you will ever see, offered is a clean
earlier Yogi Berra store model bat. Not signed by Yogi, but
it is signed by the legendary Red Sox cult hero Tony Conigliaro and even by his brother Billy Conigliaro! The Billy
signature is very faint, but the Tony C. signature, while not
perfect, is more than fully legible and displays reasonably
well. Tony C’s signature is virtually impossible on a bat,
much less something with his brother, there are probably
only a handful of these in existence. This treasure came
from a world class Boston Red Sox collection and should
find a very happy home in the future we hope! JSA LOA.

Single Signed Baseballs
449Earl Averill
9...................... 300
Better ball, this was signed at the very end of his life.
A 1930s Indians HOFer, Averill died in 1983 and is a tough
single signed baseball. The offered ball is a pleasing offwhite OAL MacPhail model. This was signed in blue ballpoint ink cleanly at the time for a sportswriter. Nice Averill
single is much nicer than most that trade. JSA LOA.
450George H.W Bush
9 (Selig).......... 135
Desirable ball, these have totally dried up in recent years.
Signed on a very clean and white Selig model ball, the signature is in blue ballpoint ink. Fine quality signature of this
popular former President and political patriarch, these will
always be very popular. JSA LOA.
451Roberto Clemente
7.................... 1800
Vital single, Clemente tragically died in a plane trash in
1972 delivering supplies to earthquake victims. The offered
ball is a pleasing off-white Wilson Little League model.
Signed and inscribed on the sweet spot, this has an awful lot
of writing for a Clemente single. The autograph has a very
attractive look and feel, a bit light but fully acceptable to all
but super high grade baseball collectors. If you want a nice
Clemente single and do want to spend five figures, than this
ball is something to seriously consider. JSA LOA (full).
452Ty Cobb
9.................... 3000
Terrific Ty Cobb single signed baseball, this has as much
writing as you will ever see. Offered is a clean Official
League Genuine Horsehide baseball that is off-white and
clean. Signed and inscribed by Cobb to a grandson of a
Major in the Army, this is dated May 23, 1961 by Cobb.
Signed in attractive blue ballpoint ink, the autograph and
writing contrast very nicely against the ball. Terrific quality
here, also nice if you don’t want to spend $20,000 on a Near
Mint uninscribed version. A great value at current market
levels, this is a terrific Tyrus Raymond Cobb single signed
baseball, a most vital addition to any serious autographed
baseball collection. Please note this ball is also special in
that Cobb died less than two months after this was signed
(July 17, 1961). A great ball all around! PSA DNA (full).
453Joe Cronin
9........................ 50
Terrific Joe Cronin single, this is much nicer than 95% of
those that trade. Clean unofficial ball has a Mint blue sharpie signature on his usual spot on a side panel. This is one of
the biggest and best Joe Cronin autographs you will find on
a baseball. Fresh to market, this will be an upgrade for most
of you. JSA LOA (full).
454Joe DiMaggio 8 (to Bret Saberhagen)...................... 200
OAL Brown ball was almost certainly used in a game. Very
cool ball, as this is signed To Bret Continued Future Success
Joe DiMaggio in flowing black ballpoint. Saberhagen was
a 2-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion. Joe hardly ever signed baseballs like this; very, very
unique Joe DiMaggio single. JSA LOA.
455Gerald Ford

457Gil Hodges
7...................... 600
Rare single signed baseball from this beloved 1969 Mets
manager and Brooklyn Dodger star, this is something that
hardly ever comes around. The offered lot has condition
issues, so it will not be a $5,000 ball but still will capably fill
a most vital hole any serious Mets or Dodger single signed
ball collection. The ball itself is a toned ONL Frick ball from
the 1947-1951 era, signed and inscribed To Jeff in blue fountain pen. A true vintage Hodges single, the signature is more
than legible and has a nice antique feel. JSA LOA (full).
458Rogers Hornsby
7.5................. 1500
Key ball from a former .400 hitter and one of the greatest
hitters in all of baseball history. Always a super desirable
single, the offered ball is an official Southern Association
model that has general wear, likely from use. Signed on a
side panel, Rogers Hornsby 1955 in large and strong blue
ballpoint ink, this is a very strong signature. Very solid ball
overall, given the strength of the signature, we feel the mild
wear on the ball itself can be forgiven. An important single
signed baseball given the player, this could be the cornerstone of many a signed baseball collection! JSA LOA (full).
461George Kelly
9...................... 350
Elusive ball, this is missing from many collections. This
1920s HOFer died in 1984 and is almost always a forged
ball. Offered is a clean Official League ball, signed on the

Very, very nice example of this tougher single, terrific
quality. JSA LOA (full).

Desirable Mack single from 1933, this is signed and inscribed with lots of writing. The ball itself is an off-white

Mack single with an unusual amount of writing, nice piece.
JSA LOA.
463Mickey Mantle
9.5 (OAL Brown, No. 7)............. 250
Spotless Mantle single, the ball is perfectly white, bright and
immaculate. Signed boldly on the sweet spot, top quality
Mantle balls have become much harder to find in recent
years. JSA LOA (full).
464Mickey Mantle
9 (OAL Brown, HOF)............ 300
Always desirable and in demand, offered is a clean OAL
Brown ball signed Mickey Mantle HOF 74 on the sweet spot
in attractive blue ink. We had several of these years back,
this is the last one. The ball and signature present quite well,
this is a great ball to use to fill this most vital hole in your
HOF inscription single signed ball collection. JSA LOA.
459Waite Hoyt
9...................... 210
Undervalued single, we know these are not rare but still, this
is a HOFer and number one 1927 Yankees starting pitcher!
Offered is a clean ONL Feeney ball that is signed on the
sweet spot in attractive blue ballpoint ink. This has one
spot on the sweet spot, this otherwise looks terrific. Quality
single, this was signed for a sportswriter in the early 1980s.
JSA LOA.
460Travis Jackson
9...................... 225
Clean off-white unofficial ball. This has a solid blue ink
signature from this 1920s/1930s New York Giant shortstop
and HOFer. Jackson died in 1987 and is an elusive single,
this is nicer than most that trade. JSA LOA.

466Casey Stengel
8...................... 600
Always popular, these seem to have appreciated in recent
years. Offered is a pleasing ONL Giles ball from the 1960s,
signed, inscribed and dated September 2, 1965 by Stengel.
Everything is on one side panel, and the autograph contrasts
reasonably well against the clean ball. Nice piece.

468Rudy York
6...................... 225
Extremely difficult and desirable ball of this quality star
from the 1940 Tigers and 1946 Red Sox. Offered is a toned
Harridge game ball from a game played at Yankee Stadium
on August 11, 1946. York signed the opposing side at the
time, a light but certainly legible signature in period ink.
It has been years and years since we have seen one of these.

465Thurman Munson
9.................... 1500
A hallowed baseball, true Thurman Munson single signed
baseballs are just so rare and desirable. Offered is a true
condition gem, this is signed on a super clean Spalding Pro
League ball from the 1970s. Signed To Eddy Best Wishes
Thurman Munson, this is a gorgeous blue ballpoint ink
signature. This contrasts perfectly against the clean ball
and simply looks great. If it were not for the inscription,
this would be a $10-$20K ball, it is that nice. Balls like this
offer a great opportunity to fill in one of the most important holes in a Yankee single signed ball collection without
breaking the bank. PSA DNA (full).
467Pie Traynor
5...................... 600
Tough ball of this unheralded HOF third baseman, probably
the greatest until Mike Schmidt and George Brett came
along in the 1970s. Offered is a toned official ball that may
have seen some game use. Signed on the sweet spot, this is
a fairly bold dark ink signature that contrasts reasonably
well against the ball. While certainly not a Mint ball, this is
a more than respectable example of an elusive HOF single
signed ball that is missing from even many advanced collections. This has a solid signature on the sweet spot and is
completely fresh to market. JSA LOA (full).
469Collection of 11 Political Single Signed Baseballs
9.................. 150
Very unusual collection obtained by a well connected person
in the military. Balls are clean, signatures are generally very
nice. Content is as follows: Gingrich, Giuliani, Mondale,
Pelosi, Perot, Powell, Quayle, Romney, Rubio, Steele and
Sarah Dutchess York. Unusual single signed baseballs have
become extremely popular in recent years, this lot is nice as
it has two former Vice Presidents. JSA LOA.
470Collection of 64 Red Sox Single Signed Balls
w/stars
9.................. 200
Neatly presented in gold cubes, these are all identified by
name, which is always great. Signed on official balls, clean
lot of Red Sox singles from a world class Red Sox collection. Little to no duplication, players can be from the 1950s
through the 2000s, there may well be some scarce obscurities in the lot. A great value lot, with 16 better balls: Armas,
Boddicker, Boggs, Buckner, Carbo, Clark, Dom DiMaggio,
Doerr, Dropo, Ferrell, Fisk, Greenwell, Kell, Lyle, Scott and

471Collection of 24 HOF Inscription Singles 9............ 270
So popular these days, offered is a fresh collection of HOF
inscribed singles. All have the HOF inscriptions, condition
varies only mildly. Lot is as follows; Aparicio, Boudreau,
Carlton, Doerr, Feller, Fingers, Ford, Irvin, Kaline , Kell, Kiner, Marichal, Palmer, Perez, Perry, Roberts, B. Robinson, F.
Robinson, Schoendienst, Snider, Sutter, Sutton, Weaver and
B. Williams. This is simply a great start on an HOF single
signed ball collection and can save a collector working on

very well with these. JSA LOA.
474Boston Red Sox Vintage
Signed Signed Ball Collection (54 pcs) 9.................. 350
Neatly presented in gold cubes, clean lot of Red Sox singles
from a world class Red Sox collection. Loaded with obscure
singles one will probably never see, we have a listing of every
autograph for clarification. This lot is an amazing opportunity to fill in very difficult holes in a very advanced Boston
Red Sox signed baseball collection, and a dealer from New
England (or with many customers from that area), should
have a field day selling these as singles. Condition is clean,
most are on official balls, only a few are personalized, there
is no duplication. Exact content will be noted on our web
site. JSA LOA.

472100 Years Fenway Collection
w/Yaz, Ortiz & Pedro Martinez (11 pcs) 9.5................ 300
Very unusual collection of 11 Mint Selig 100 Years of Fenway baseballs. Condition is impeccable, the content here
is awfully strong: Yaz, Pedro Martinez, David Ortiz, Rice/
Lynn/Evans on one ball, Fisk, Rice, Marichal, Doerr, Jenkins, Dave Roberts and one other. I cannot imagine how
much this little run cost the collector who did these! The
condition is truly beautiful here, these would look amazing
the right display. JSA LOA.
4733000 Hit Club Run (17) w/Mays & Aaron 9........... 300
Extremely difficult run, each ball is on a higher grade official ball and is signed in bold blue ink. Presented on a fine
custom wood plaque, these look great. Lots of value here,
this is a run you just never see. Content is as follows: Aaron,
Boggs, Brett , Brock, Carew, Gwynn, Henderson, Kaline,
Mays, Molitor, Murray, Musial, Ripken, Rose, Winfield, Yaz
and Yount. How much would these run as singles in today’s
market? JSA LOA.

475Aaron/Leifeild/Secretarial Ruth
8.................. 240
Clean OAL Barnard ball from the early 1930s looks terrific.
Odd ball, this has a vintage secretarial autograph on the
sweet spot, a real Hank Aaron on the south panel just above
Lefty Leifield (D’1970). JSA LOA.
476Fine Vintage HOF Ball w/2 Jimmie Foxx’s 8.......... 540
Great ball, this is a slightly toned OAL Harridge model with
a tiny mounting hole on the sweet spot. Signed exclusive
by HOFers, there are 10 total signatures. Almost certainly
signed at a HOF Induction, the autographs are as follows:
two Jimmie Foxx’s!, Home Run Baker, Mickey Cochrane,
Ray Schalk, Lefty Grove, Paul Waner, Charlie Gehringer, Joe
Cronin and Carl Hubbell. As Cochrane and Baker died in
1963, this can of course be no later than that. The autographs are a pleasing 8/10 overall and this is one of the best
HOF balls from this era that can be found. This ball originated from the personal collection of team owner
Joe E. Brown. JSA LOA.

478Old Timers w/Foxx, Grove & Maris 8.................. 750
Fairly unique ball, this is a clear-coated OAL Cronin model
from the 1960s. Extremely desirable, this ball boasts 22
fairly bold period ink signatures, a few of which have bled a
bit (please consult the images of all panels on our web site).
There are nine HOFers and some fine secondary star players. The key to this ball is a superb Jimmie Foxx on his own
panel over the seal. Other better signatures include Greenberg, Grove, Dickey, DiMaggio, Maris, Johnny Murphy, Red
Rolfe, Joe McCarthy and Earl Averill. Fairly unique ball,
how many signed baseballs exist with Jimmie Foxx, Roger
Maris, Hank Greenberg and Joe DiMaggio together? In light
of this uniqueness and stellar star power, we feel the condition issues can be forgiven. Please note this comes in the
original box. JSA LOA.
480Ruth/Gehrig Signed Early 1930s Ball 3.................. 600
One one of the weakest condition Ruth/Gehrig balls you will
find, this is a completely toned OAL Harridge model ball.
There are over 13 signatures on this ball, with note to
HOFers Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe Cronin, Hank Greenberg, Mickey Cochrane and Rick Ferrell. Non-HOFers include Tom Bridges, JoJo White and Wes Ferrell. Please note
our photos will be enhanced so the autographs are visible
but the ball itself is fully dark and the autographs are not
easy to discern. Please note Ruth, Gehrig and Greenberg and
are among the clearer autographs on the ball. JSA LOA.
481Traynor/Prince (displayable as single)8.................. 225
Interesting ball from the Pittsburgh area, offered is an evenly toned Wilson Little League model baseball. Signed by Pie
Traynor on his own panel, this is 100% displayable as a Pie
Traynor single signed baseball. The opposite panel is signed
by legendary Pirates broadcaster Bob Prince and Frank
Thomas. JSA LOA (full).
477Giamatti/Feeney8.................. 200
Rare ball, this is an evenly toned ONL Feeney model that
probably saw some light game use. This is special as it is
signed on the sweet spot by Bart Giamatti (D’1989) and on a
side panel by Chub Feeney (D’94). The Giamatti signature is
large but not perfect, about an 8/10 in our view, and the Feeney is quite bold. Giamatti balls hardly ever come around,
especially something like this. PSA DNA LOA (full).
479Old Timers w/Jackie Robinson (16 sigs) 8.............. 500
Fairly unique ball, this is a clear-coated OAL Cronin model
from the 1960s. Extremely desirable, this ball boasts 16
fairly bold period ink signatures, a few of which have bled a
bit (please consult the images of all panels on our web site).
There are seven HOFers and some fine secondary star players. The key to this ball is a fine Jackie on the bottom of one
panel (Jackie is very unusual to find on these types of balls).
Other better signatures include a strong Paul Waner, Pepper
Martin, Ernie Lombardi, Joe Medwick, Rip Collins, Billy
Herman, Bucky Walter and Van Lingle Mungo. In light of
this uniqueness and star power, we feel the condition issues
can be forgiven. Please note this comes in the original box.

483 1924 Giants Team Ball
5.................. 500
Lower grade ONL Heydler ball has toning and general wear
but still presents fairly well. We believe this to be from
the 1924-25 New York Giants. Legible autographs include
extremely rare HOFer and esquire Hughie Jennings, Fred
Lindstrom, Frankie Frisch, Travis Jackson (slightly traced),
Irish Meusel (D’63), Heinie Groh, Walt Huntzinger and Jack
Bentley. There are 15 signatures according to the PSA DNA
LOA. The Jennings is at the top of one panel and is actually
a fairly nice 5/10, he is on the same panel as fellow HOF
Frankie Frisch. Please note Jennings, one of the great characters in baseball history, died in 1928 at only age 58 and is
an extremely desirable autograph on anything, especially a
baseball. JSA LOA.

484 1933 Senators Team Ball
6.5................ 300
Good ball from this elusive AL Champion team, I love that
this has Moe Berg along with 21 other team members. Better
signatures include HOFers Cronin, Goslin and Manush.
Other better signatures include Bruke, Boken, Luke Sewell
and Earl Whitehill (D’54). The ball is a very attractive
multi-color stitched OAL Harridge model. JSA LOA (full).
485 1942 Cardinals Team Ball
6.................. 285
The combination of Enos Slaughter and Ken O’Dea precisely dates this as a World Championship 1942 Cardinals team
ball. The offered ball has damage in one small spot but is an
otherwise fairly clean ONL Frick model. There are only 15
signatures but amazingly enough, virtually every key is here!
These keys include an outstanding Billy Southworth on his
own panel (incorrectly noted 1941 at the top of the panel)
that is 100% displayable as a single, Stan Musial on the
sweet spot, Enos Slaughter, the scarce Mort Cooper (D’58),
Marty Marion, Terry Moore and Johnny Beazley. Very tough
Championship ball, we have not had one of these in years!
JSA LOA.
486 1943 Cardinals Team Ball
8.................. 360
Very, very tough ball, this is a very desirable Championship
team ball. The ball is a very, very nice ONL Frick ball. There
are 25 very attractive and consistent period ink signatures.
Scarce Wartime ball, this ball never comes around in this
quality, if ever. Keys include a terrific early Musial, Southworth, Mort Cooper (D’58), Breechen, Marion, Kurowski
and O’Dea. JSA LOA.
487 1946 Red Sox Team Ball
8.................. 250
Very desirable ball of this key Red Sox AL Championship
team, this is BY FAR the highest grade one we have seen or
handled. Offered is a superb OAL Harridge ball with a full

look great set against the high grade ball, an outstanding
appearance is offered. Keys include Ted Williams, Rudy
York, Joe Cronin, Charlie Wagner, Pinky Higgins, Johnny
Pesky, Wally Moses, Doerr, DiMaggio (only ch) and Zuber.
Again this is one of the very best examples of this key ball in
circulation to our eyes. JSA LOA.
488 1946 Yankees Team Ball
8.................. 180
Very, very tough Yankee team ball that hardly ever comes to
market. The ball is off-white and reasonably clean, with 20
generally very strong dark period ink signatures. Highlights
include the elusive Joe Gordon, Tommy Henrich, Bill Dickey, Charlie Keller, Johnny Murphy, George Stirnweiss (D’58)
and Spud Chandler. JSA LOA.
489 1947 Pirates Team Ball w/Hank Greenberg 6....... 300
Slightly worn unofficial ball may have seen some game use.
There are 23 period fountain pen signatures, notable for
Hank Greenberg on the sweet spot. Other signatures include
Greenberg’s protege Ralph Kiner, Billy Herman, Billy Cox,
Preacher Roe, Bill Salkeld (D’67) and Fritz Ostermueller
(D’57). The condition is rough but the ball is fully presentable. This is a very scarce ball from Hank Greenberg’s final
year in baseball, also notable for a Rookie Ralph Kiner.
JSA LOA (full).
490 1951 Red Sox Team Ball (2x Ted Williams!) 8........ 210
Bright and clean OAL Harridge model ball looks terrific.
There are 24 strong ink signatures; this ball is neat in that
a real Ted Williams was added later on just below a vintage
example. In addition to the very nice Ted Williams, this
ball has signatures of Earle Combs, Dom DiMaggio, Bobby
Doerr, Steve O’Neill (D’63), Vern Stephens, Ellis Kinder, Mel
Parnell, Billy Goodman and Johnny Pesky. Good ball as it
has TWO AUTHENTIC Ted Williams signatures. JSA LOA.

a clean off-white ball with 26 period ballpoint ink signatures. Loaded ball, keys include a fine early Mantle, Rizzuto,
Mize, Ford, Berra, Blackwell, Reynolds, Martin and Raschi.
The autographs contrast reasonably well against the ball.
Problem free ball with no clubhouse signatures, this is not
something you see every day. JSA LOA (full).
492 1954 Giants Team Ball
6.5................ 240
Popular Championship ball, this is a mildly toned and
clear-coated ONL Frick model. There are 28 signatures with
the usual stamped Durocher, a desirable real Mays, Maglie,
Wilhelm, Thompson, Westrum, Lockman, Irvin, Dark (2),
Rhodes and Lockman. JSA LOA.
493 1958 LA Dodgers Team Ball (1st year LA) 8........ 210
Good ball as this is the first LA Dodger team. Quality team,
there are a full 30 signatures on a slightly toned ONL Giles
ball. HOFers are Alston, Drysdale, Reese and Snider. No
Koufax, but this is otherwise loaded with Hodges, Gilliam,
Dressen, Walker, Roseboro, Podres, Howard et al. The condition is certainly not perfect but there cannot be very many
of these around with so many signatures. JSA LOA.
494 1959 Dodgers Team Ball
5.................. 150
World Championship team ball, there are 24 signatures on a
fairly clean ONL Giles model ball. The autographs vary
extensively in darkness, some panels look great, others are

Reiser, Snider and Roseboro. Four HOFers are on this desirable ball. JSA LOA.
495 1959 White Sox Team Ball
8.5................ 300
Extremely popular ball of this beloved cult favorite team
that lost to the LA Dodgers in the World Series. Very nice
ball, this is an off-white OAL Harridge model with 25
pleasing period ink signatures. Highlights include a fine
Nellie Fox, the key to the ball, Rookie Norm Cash, who is
VERY hard to find on these, Ted Kluszewski, Al Lopez,
Early Wynn, Billy Pierce, Luis Aparicio and Sherm Lollar.
Between the presence of all of the key signatures and the
general quality, this is a superior example of a classic
1950s Championship team ball. JSA LOA.
4961961 AL All Stars
Team Ball w/Mantle & Maris
7.................. 400
Extremely difficult ball to find, from a great year, this came
from the collection of Tigers manager Bob Scheffing. We
had a few of these, this is the best one. The ball is a game
used OAL Cronin model, with 24 signatures that vary.
This is special as it has a real Mantle and Maris from their
greatest season. From the collection of Tigers manager
Bob Scheffing, the Mantle and Maris signatures are fairly
pleasing. Other highlights include Ford, Berra, Ford, Elston
Howard, Brooks Robinson, Bunning, Howser, Wilhelm,
Paul Richards and Tony Kubek. This is the first time we have
ever had one of these. JSA LOA.
497 1962 Mets Team Ball w/Hornsby & Hodges 7.5.... 500
Key team ball, offered is a mildly toned ONL Giles model
with mounting holes on the top and bottom. Signed by 29
team members, this has the usual clubhouse Casey Stengel.
With that disclosed, this ball is still somewhat exceptional as
it offers autographs of Rogers Hornsby (D’62), Gil Hodges
(D’72), Red Ruffing, Richie Ashburn, Zimmer, Chacon,
Moorhead and Hemus. The signatures are all in fairly
consistent blue ballpoint ink. It is REALLY hard to find
these with Hornsby, Hodges and Ruffing, making this a very
desirable ball despite some admitted issues. JSA LOA (full).

Clean ONL Giles ball has a full 28 signatures. These vary in
color and darkness, but most are legible and nice. Keys include a real Maris, Brock, Flood, Cepeda, Carlton, Gibson,
McCarver and Shannon. Desirable ball on several levels, this
is a World Championship team ball and also it is very tough
to find this with Maris, Brock, Gibson, Carlton and Flood,
usually one or more of these keys is missing. Good ball.

34 signatures. The autographs are nice overall and consistent, the number is extraordinary. Keys include Cox,
Glavine, Chipper Jones, Smoltz, Maddux, Justice, Lopez,

have five HOFers and are still very popular, this ball is like
their 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers team, likely meaning great
demand in the future. JSA LOA.

first-hand reports from my friends on both national and
international problems. Signed by Eisenhower at the close, a
perfect Mint signature in black fountain pen, truly remarkable quality. Please note the speech referred to in the letter,
Atoms for Peace, was one of the most important ever given
by Ike and was a plea for peaceful use of atomic energy and
the legacy of his wise policies carry on to the present day.
Terrific Eisenhower letter with excellent content. JSA LOA.

So popular among collectors, these have always been hard to
find as the first Moonwalker was always a difficult signer.

Legendary American hero, the source of endless conspiracies due to her (presumed) death in 1937. Offered is a fine
looking 4 x 2 1/2 card with an extremely attractive black
fountain pen signature. This comes with an interesting TLS

classic autograph. JSA LOA.
513PhotoJohnson, Lyndon Baines (lot of 2) 9.5.......... 200
Terrific pair of LBJ signatures, presented on board with a
photo just above. From the 1960s, one is signed by Johnson
himself (swearing in after JFK assassination), the second
piece (colorful Western image) is signed and inscribed with
signatures with LBJ and his popular First Lady. Handsome
pair, ideal for display, these measure 7x9 and 8x10 total.
LBJ autographs are notoriously secretarial, these fresh to
market autographs are especially desirable for this reason.

5218 x 10FDR Supreme Court
(9 signatures, superb!)
9.................. 200
Offered is a truly remarkable item, an 8x10 page signed by
all nine members of the most impactful court of the first
part of the 20th century, the 1930s FDR court. This court
resisted FDR at every turn, FDR even ran against them
at one time and that led to his ill advised plan to pack the
court, one of his few political blunders. The image itself
is not signed, the signatures are all just below and amazingly enough, signed on just one item. These are the signers: Brandeis (D’41), Butler (D’39), Cardozo (D’38), C.E.
Hughes (D’48), McReynolds (D’46), Roberts (D’55), Stone
(D’46), Sutherland (D’42) and Van Devanter (D’41). In
addition to the great historic significance, these are rare
autographs signed all together, as most of the Justices died
in the 1940s, leaving a relatively small window to sign such a
79
piece. Great, great piece. JSA LOA.

526 Henry, Patrick Signed Document
9.................. 700
A perfect item for our times, this is a 12x16 Land Grant

of Virginia. Famed for saying “Give Me Liberty or Give Me
Death”, a remarkably topical quote in these turbulent times.
The document has been folded and has had some professional repairs to fill in holes and has a replaced seal at the
lower left corner. With that diclosed, this still has decent
eye appeal and most vitally, has a particularly bold and fine
autograph of this legendary Revolutionary War figure at the
lower right corner. This is a great addition to any historical

598 1936 Goudey History Aviation
Complete Set (10) - Oversize Issue NM.............. 150
Something we have not seen before, offered is a set of beautiful larger format 5 1/2 inch square paper premiums.
Printed in vivid 1930s color, this set is notable as it includes

601 1939 War News Pictures Complete Set VG-Ex.... 400
Key set, one of the most desirable of its era, this 144-card
Gum Inc. set lists for $4,400 in our old guide. Extremely difficult set to assemble, especially with the scarce cards from
109-120. An interesting set as the first 48 cards are black
and white, others are color and some have an orange border.
Missing numbers 109, 114-5 and 117-120, four cards came
back trimmed from PSA: 110, 111, 113 and 116 and card
numbers 132 and 134 came back 4s. Condition ranges from
VG to Ex Plus, mostly in the VG-Ex to Ex range, averaging
about VG-Ex overall. The backs are clean, this is a very well
collected mid-grade set.

to Near Mint, there are many very, very nice cards in this
colorful and interesting 1930s set.

bright white, the colors look great, condition looks to be
about 70%+ Near Mint, the balance Ex-Mt with a small
number of weaker cards. The backs are clean on this 96-card

on so many cards.

638 1970Rare Ali Quarry
On Site Original Fight Poster
Ex-Mt.......... 300
Terrific real Ali item, this is an original on site 14 x 22 poster for a fight between Muhammed Ali and Jerry Quarry
that took place on October 26, 1970 in Atlanta, Georgia. An
extremely attractive poster, this was designed by none other
than Leroy Neiman. The poster has a creative and colorful
visual of Ali towering over a smaller image of Quarry. The
poster itself has crisp edges and bright color, there are some
stray paper creases and one spot on the far left edge, it is
certainly more than clean overall. This is a historic poster
as this was Ali’s first first in three and a half years as he was
exiled from professional boxing for refusing to serve in the
Vietnam War (the fight actually took place while Ali was appealing his conviction for draft evasion). Ali won this fight
handily in three rounds. Condition is bright and clean, this
is almost begging to be framed.

Complete Wax Box w/114 Packs
Ex+............ 2000
Remarkable item, from a famous find decades ago, how
often will you ever see a full box with 114 packs? The box
itself is complete with all flaps but has been exposed to
some moisture over time. This is true for the packs as well.
The packs are tight and fairly clean, there is one card plus a
piece of gum in each one. Some packs have foxing and slight
damage on the edges from age and storage (some definitely
worse than others), but most are reasonably clean. We can
only hope the cards are perfect but nothing can be assured
of course! We are certain, however, this is an exciting
offering that is almost a find as full boxes with this many
packs from the 1950s hardly ever come to market. A special,
special piece, a great addition to any top quality unopened
or 1950s football/card collection.
