Be an Angel this Holiday Season
Make a Difference in the Lives of Homeless Pets
Dear FOHA Supporter:
Since 1973, Friends of Homeless Animals
has provided shelter, nutritious food, medical care, and rehabilitation to over
15,000 homeless pets. Pulled from kill shelters and surrendered by owners who
can no longer care for them, each year FOHA rescues over 600 cats and dogs,
regardless of age, breed, shyness, energy level, size, and medical condition. As a
no-kill shelter, our cats and dogs stay with us as long as they need to in order to
find permanent and loving homes, including pets with special needs.

It is only through the generous donations of supporters like you that we can continue to make a difference in the lives
of special needs pets like Rudy Nelson and Murray.
RUDY
Gentle Giant Rudy Nelson has traveled a rough road medically. Picked up as a stray,
this beautiful Neapolitan Mastiff mix was brought to FOHA in December of 2013. Underweight by thirty pounds, we discovered he was also heartworm positive. Rudy made
it through the heartworm treatment only to show signs of illness a month later due to a
diseased spleen, which was then removed surgically. Without your donations, FOHA would
not have been able to provide Rudy with the medical care he needed. We are happy to report
this beautiful boy is now happily settled into his long-term foster home where he hangs out
with feline and canine friends, takes long naps in the sun, and enjoys daily walks.
Handsome Murray was adopted out as a kitten in 2008 and
returned to FOHA in 2010. Anxious when he arrived, his admirers stepped up to finance
acupuncture sessions to help him through a tough adjustment period. The treatments
helped, and he has been able to adapt to living in a quieter room in the cattery. Murray
has now been waiting four years to find a pet parent who will take on a kitty who is not a
fan of change. He would do best in an adult-only, quiet environment where he is allowed
his “purr-sonal” space. Of course, Murray is welcome to stay at FOHA as long as needed,
thanks to our supporters who provide funding to care for our longer-term residents. Still, he
has his paws crossed that the holidays will bring a loving, patient adopter into his life. Please

FOHA’s holiday goal is to raise $200,000 by January 1st so that we can continue to provide shelter, deliver excellent medical care, and find loving homes for companion animals in need. Won’t you be an ANGEL to an

Donations Needed for Cattery
and Kennel Improvements
Jerry’s Place Is In Need of Replacement
Home to many of our senior kitties,
Jerry’s Place, a sun porch attached
to our back cattery, is in dire need of
replacement. The annex was a buildon to the back cattery building that,
unfortunately, has not withstood the
elements and the test of time. After
COOPER much research, we have determined
that the best course of action is to
replace the enclosed porch. As we work to fund the project,
we continue to care for the cats in Jerry’s Place and promise
them a more weather-proof place to call home.
Kennel Building #1 Renovation/Replacement
Two of our kennel buildings were constructed over 30 years
ago by the original property owner. Building #1 is in the
most dire need of renovation or replacement. Housing 24
dogs, the block building is dark, the concrete floor is crumbling due to drainage issues, and the claustrophobic design
is not optimal for showcasing our amazing dogs for adoption. There have been many improvements in shelter facility
design that we would like to take advantage of as we begin
to renovate our aging facility including sound proofing, solar
power, disease prevention, and comfort for the animals.
